Good place to come watch a game with plenty of crowd. Some great local brews on the tap menu. Only ordered the truffle fries(which were pretty damn good, I thought), but heard great things about their food from a local regular. Went alone on vacation and there were a lot of friendly locals at the bar. There’s also nice outdoor patio seating with big screens outside. The place did get pretty packed and service was a little slow as a result. I do like being able to hear the commentary when I go out to watch games though, and the place was too crowded and noisy for that(which also makes it fun on the upside).

This place is an absolute joke. This will be the third time I’ve waited over 30 minutes only to be told that we cannot order food because«the kitchen is backed up.» Our waitress told us the kitchen staff quit. We’ve heard the same story 3 times. If the owner ever reads these, you should know that you are a pathetic excuse for a business owner and you deserve the loss of business coming your way for treating your staff the way you do.

When that crave hits… You’ll never beat Happy Hour Oyster deals. Sip up and get those chargrilled for $ 8.00 a dozen Or Raw $ 3.00 ~ What! ~ Great staff. patio bar… right on St. Charles Ave. I’m loving it…

I wanted to try the famous chargrilled oysters that Louisiana had to offer and some friends took us to this place on a Friday night. I was happy to be seated pretty quickly after arriving and that excitement soon went away after the wait for our food. We ordered some alligator sausage and sweet potato fries to start with two doze oysters. The sausage and fries came out in a timely manner. For the price, the sausage was definitely not worth it. The fries tasted kind of cold too. We finished those two dishes pretty quickly and the waitress came out to say the oysters will be here soon when she cleared our plates. «Soon» apparently means an hour because it took forever for our oysters to come out. The oysters were good and had lots of parmesan cheese shaved on top. Sauce was tasty to dip the bread in too. Our waitress seemed kind of checked out and I didn’t really care for her apology at the end.

I have come here many years and it is one of my favorite spots. Particularly for their happy hour oysters at $ 0.25 each they are hard to pass up. Unfortunately the last two times I have come they have been out of v stupid requested beers and when I found one they had it was flat. Today I ordered 4 beers until we found one that was available. Craziness. They were also out of crawfish tonight which was frustrating The price is moderate and the food is fine. Good for porch sitting and oyster eating…

I’ve been here twice now and I feel like it’s just a good spot to grab something to soak up the alcohol. Service is slooooow and food is just okay. I prefer the chargrilled oysters to the raw ones because the raw ones are not cold which freaks me out. Their crawfish are good enough for me and were a pretty fun activity for my group because we’re from out of town, but I wouldn’t get them if it was just for a couple of people. All in all, I think I will probably pass on this spot next time I’m in town

We were lucky to get seated relatively quickly for this spot and got two dozen orders of grilled oysters, the alligator sausage and some sweet potato fries. The food was yummy, the oysters come topped with cheese, the sausage had a nice little kick and the sweet potatoes were standard. The three stars was for the service. Although we were seated quickly for a group of four our waitress seemingly forgot about us and it took a long time for the oysters to come out. Maybe we caught in on an off day but reading the other reviews it seems like it’s a trend

So sad to see this service in NOLA. If the staff spent a fraction of the time they spend talking to each other on their tables this place would be okay. Oyster deal is good but oysters aren’t very cold and the charbroiled ones are a sad display. Come on people! New Orleans has some of the best food and service in the country and these BARTENDERS didn’t even ask if I wanted a drink. Sucks to see what a could be a good place go down the shitter. Don’t waste your time or money. There’s plenty of other great spots.

This is a great hole in the wall place that was recommended to us by a local. They have a great happy hour special consisting of a dozen oysters for $ 3(raw) and $ 8.50(charbroiled) when an ADULT beverage is purchased. Pretty small so it can get a little cramped because it’s always busy but the wait time hasn’t been more than 15 minutes. Food comes out fast! Great place if your looking for booze and oysters!

Would definitely come back next time I visit Nola though this is my 2nd time in 4 days!

Slow slow service. I attribute to not enough oyster shuckers at happy hours, which are 4 to 8. The oysters are not clean, with endless grit. The food is ok otherwise, but with so many choices, why settle. I’ll hunt out other ouster options next time. Red Fish Grill maybe.

I’m giving this place 4 stars because our server was fantastic, it made up for the hour and half wait(I know right? but we über’d there and really wanted oysters) and of course the prices. I’m pretty sure it took us that long to get a table was because it was for a table of 8. Happy hour special is from 4−8pm. Dozen oysters for $ 3, but you must order an alcoholic beverage in order to receive HH prices. Ordered the white fruit sangria but fruity wines are not my thing, still chugged it though haha. The crawfish was alright, I still like Texas crawfish better — it’s always soaked in flavor. But it did have a good spice to it! Alligator sausage smelled great, but tasted like your average sausage. It’s just a busy place in general, so arrive early if you don’t want to wait too long. Server mentioned ahead of time that the wait will be long because their shockers are working their butt off(and there were two) so you have to understand. I’m glad he mentioned it though, it was a nice heads up. Nice experience, probably wouldn’t come back if we’re in town unless it’s with a smaller group(so it’s easier to get a table) and if we arrive early! No complaints really, our server and food really made up for the long wait.

The scowl on the hostess’s face is pretty ridiculous. We probably should have turned away from that moment but we heard about this place from a Thrillist article so we decided to try it. Every server I saw working was a bitchy teenager who obviously did not want to be there. After being given a 25 – 30 minute wait time with many visible tables open we were then seated at a dirty table.(It should be noted that both my husband and myself have worked in the service industry, so we would understand if they were actually busy but everyone just seemed to be standing around doing nothing but gossiping) So after I cleaned my own table, our server greeted us(after audibly commenting to the hostess«are you fucking kidding me») and took our beverage order… they were out of the first 3(three!!) beers I tried to order that were all listed on their current draft list. We finally got our happy hour oysters a good 40 – 45 minutes later, which were fine, but you can easily find better or just as good at much friendlier places. After paying the server didn’t bring our credit card back with the receipt! She had to search the bar because she left it by the register. All in all I say just skip this place, they have happy hour but so do most restaurants we found in New Orleans and they all have much better service than this place.

Went here for hh oysters yesterday. The hostess is as unprofessional as they come — totally bored and inattentive and got into a fight with a server while everyone watched. The chargrilled oysters were soaked in some disgusting imitation butter and seemed like they were boiled. The raw oysters had grit. They ran out of crackers. The only redeeming quality was Jeremy our waiter — poor guy doesn’t have much to work with. Stay away — go to Luke instead.

I dunno about this place… girl at the front first completely ignored us while sticking her hand in the crayfish pot and was eating the crayfish. She then told us an hour wait. Shortly after told a another couple it was a 40 min wait. My mom asked her which was it… she sputtered 40 to 60 minutes. Surprised she knew an hour was 60 minutes. And I’m a little grossed out that staff is just all up in the crayfish with their bare hands. And apparently everyone ahead of said forget you and left. We finally got sat and were left waiting to be served, which never happened. I assume the crayfish boil was delicious… the staff sure liked them, just continued grabbing some mudbugs after clearing tables.(That grossed me out and we left)

Firstly, I’ll start off by saying I believe the Blind Pelican is great and better than what my 3 star rating would imply. I’ve been here many times(always for their Happy Hour Oyster deal — from 4 – 8 every day, 25 cent raw oysters!) and I really enjoy both the restaurant and the food. It’s got a great patio area for sitting outdoors when the weather is nice and the food is exactly as advertised: cheap oysters(not the juiciest or the plumpest, but you won’t find cheaper ones anywhere else!), a decent selection of beer for HH, and mostly good food(I was not blown away by the Cuban, which I felt was on the dry side — but I’ve had their Duck sandwich, which was delicious, and their Crawfish Quesadillas which were excellent and well-stuffed with cheese, peppers, and crawfish) The main reason why I only gave 3 stars was because I feel the Blind Pelican doesn’t have much consistency. Obviously there are going to be long lines for HH due to the 25 cent oyster deal, but wait times can exceed anywhere from 30 min to 1 hour. They don’t take your phone number to call when your table is ready, so you basically have to stand outside the restaurant waiting for a spot to open up instead of being able to go elsewhere to kill time. In terms of the food, sometimes the quality can be hit or miss too — obviously with 25 cent oysters you can’t expect much, but some oysters platters are not cleaned well and filled with grit. OVERALL: 3.5÷5. Good restaurant(I would recommend it!) with great value and good food/drink options for a chill night out with friends, but ultimately the inconsistency in service prevents me from giving it a full 4 stars.

I came here for the happy hour special(Everyday 4 – 8PM). Of all the places in New Orleans, Samuel’s Blind Pelican has the best deal. 25 cents an oyster or $ 3 a dozen! They even do chargrilled oysters for $ 8.50 a dozen. With each dozen, you are required to order a drink, but I don’t see that being a problem for anyone. I came with the my sister right at 4PM and there were already a lot of people. We were not able to get a balcony seat, but it was okay. We both orders a drink and we got one dozen of the raw oysters and a dozen of the chargrilled. The raw oysters were just alright. I was pretty impressed by the chargrilled oysters. It had really good taste! The bread that came with it was also good for soaking up some of the sauces. If I return, I would probably to just get two dozen of the chargrilled next time. Visit here for a good deal!

You can’t get a better deal than the happy hour oysters at the Blind Pelican. Raw oysters are 25 cents each and char broiled oysters(which are INCREDIBLE — order extra bread to dip into the super delicious and cheesy oil thats left over) are 75 cents each. They also have good deals for buckets of beers. The one negative about this place is that it is super crowded any day of the week, so get there on the earlier side to make sure you have enough time to enjoy the happy hour deals.

If you’re an oyster fan, this will probably be a 4, as their ouster specials are really good. I was on the hunt for a soft shell crab po boy as a nice woman I’m talking to has been hyping them up, and it was like the only kind of po boy I hadn’t had this trip. Also as I was flying today, I didn’t want to be hauling my luggage through bourbon, nor dropping close to $ 20 just on the sandwich. Based on the reviews and the location to Avenue Pub, Blind Pelican was my spot. I arrived right before a storm hit, just as disappointment hit as I asked the bar tender if he had soft shell crab. Negative! With the rain coming sideways and hungry, I went with the cochon de lait, with a side of alligator hash, and a beer. The sandwich wasn’t bad, but wasn’t mind blowing. The alligator hash, however, was fantastic. Large bits of alligator sausage with hash browns with bell pepper and spices. Worth getting! The beer was also nice, and should have checked that in on Untappd. The bartender and servers were nice, and the place smells great and looks like a great seafood dive bar. If in the immediate area and looking for something simple and quick, I recommend it.

While we did eat here, we had such a bad experience and I really think it was just a bad night so I’m going to strictly review the bar, since we spent like 2 hours there before dinner. Ok, so we head in, 5 of us girls. They have AWESOME craft beers on tap. I LOVE that they categorize by location. Luckily some people left the bar so we grabbed a few bar stools. I picked the bartenders brain about beers and we immediately became best friends. THEN he told us he used to bartend at Woodys(philly bar) and used to live right near me! Oddly enough, he lived in every city that all 5 of us are currently in(all over the country). I think we were talking to him more than each other. We asked for recommendations for bars later that night and he told us about a great bar with very educated breeders(straight men). LOL still dying about this breeder/non breeder thing. There was a major mix up with our table situation and he immediately had the manager help us out. My reccomendaton, go to the bar during happy hour. Learn about all the amazing craft beer Louisiana has to offer. $ 3 raw dozen oysters, the chargrilled ones were amazeeee ps!
