History

Established in 2013.

Paul Chiriaco, owner of Maggs 940, located in the Marigny of New Orleans at 940 Elysian Fields (formerly John Pauls Bar), found the perfect spot, right in between the historic Treme and French Quarter at the beginning of the revitalization of the Treme area. Seeing that this was going to be a booming area again, he dug his heels in and renovated the existing building and created Paulie’s Restaurant and Pub!

Had a good time here, got pretty loaded and saw some pretty good punk bands. WARNING!: There is no nearby store so if you intend to drink under the I-​10 you’ll need to get beer and smokes elsewhere… The closest store I could find is on Basin St. by the police station, and not only is that place a magnet for stew-​bums and crackheads there are also obviously cops all over that particular area… so I’d advise getting your supplies elsewhere. If you’re looking for what I can only assume is phony crack, there were several helpful young men nearby that night who I’m sure would be more than willing to rip you off… WARNING: Do not buy crack from random people on the street in New Orleans)
The bar itself is nice though with a balcony and a beer garden, (no smoking inside which is irritating…) and the beer prices weren’t too bad. Didn’t get any food so I can’t comment on that… I’m sure I’ll go back though and I’ll update this review then.
