Omni Royal Crescent Hotel

says 4:00pm, we got to the Omni around 10am with intentions to just hold our bags and go grab brunch and explore the city. Surprisingly, they went ahead and checked us into our two booked rooms! The young lady at the front desk was really friendly (happy belated birthday by the way). Since the rest of my family was arriving later that evening, she made notes on their reservations to be on the same floor (not guaranteed though).
While my mom’s reservation was hassle-​free and on the same floor, there was some miscommunication between Expedia and the hotel, which became a really frustrating situation for my sister. She decided to just join us for dinner and deal with it when she got back. Luckily, the manager talked to Expedia and eventually got it sorted out. A star is definitely lost from this interaction since they made her book another reservation when she arrived, causing her to get charged twice from Expedia (I had already talked to both the hotel and Expedia several hours earlier and was told everything was good to go).
The good: most of the staff is fantastic, especially the valet. Everyone was welcoming. Hotel is clean and a good size. I’ve stayed in NOLA several times before at nearby hotels, the room size at this Omni is spacious enough to move around. TV’s are rather small, don’t try catching a football playoff game in your room with others — it’s a bit of a damper. Location, however, is the best thing about this place! You’re right next to an awesome breakfast place (see review on Majoria’s Commerce), a couple cute coffee shops that aren’t Starbucks, The Ruby Slipper, and probably only 5 – 12 walking minutes away from the casino, Bourbon Street, and French Quarter.
Oh yeah, wi-​fi is free from Omni members (free to sign up). This is the same for all Omni’s I’ve been to across the country.

The hotel is ok. Rooms are very small. You pay for wifi but it doesn’t work. The valet service is horrible since the cars are probably parked in The next state over and they charge you 35.00 a night! Hotel seems expensive for what you get. Over 1600 for 3 nights at 2 rooms.

Lobby is fairly small; I came in after checkout/​before check-​in so I don’t know what it’s like when busy, but probably a bit of a madhouse.
Just checked into my room and it was a full instead of the queen I reserved. After checking my reservation, I called down to confirm that this particular hotel wasn’t just using a different definition of queen than the rest of the country. She said that it was indeed a full, and she put me there because it was ready. I’m not exactly sure why they would assume someone would want a different room type than the one they actually reserved, nor do I understand why she wouldn’t mention it to me before sending me upstairs with my luggage… but at least when I called down she said I could change rooms and it was no problem at all to do so.
This hotel was not originally an Omni, so it may not be as fancy as some people would expect or prefer, but it suited my needs well. It’s quite close to the Quarter without having all the noise, rowdiness, alcohol and smells of vomit (thank god).
I have seen a lot of complaints about the shower situation. To be honest, it didn’t bother me one bit. Perhaps it’s because I’ve used the same type of shower/​door in Europe, or perhaps I just don’t splash around all that much in the shower, but I didn’t end up with water everywhere except that which came from exiting the shower.
I found this place on
, which I had not used before. It was good hotel, helpful staff. I was able to leave my luggage for a while after checkout (an hour or so), and the woman at the desk made sure to ask if I was a Select member so I could get my glass of orange juice delivered in the morning and my free in-​room wifi. All in all, I thought this was a very good experience and I would have no qualms about staying at this hotel again on my next visit to New Orleans, or recommending it to others who want a good hotel that’s a nice mix of close enough but not too close to the action.

The staff was truly superior. The location ideal. The only reason we gave it 4 stars is that the doors were a little thin so for a light sleeper (which I’m not) they might have been annoyed. Yes, rooms are in the small side and window view was of a brick wall — I’m thinking those reviewers don’t travel to older cities very often because that’s pretty much a given.
It was immaculate, and since we stayed up late to see some shows, the blackout drapes were a God-​send. They made every possible accommodation, allowing us to check in early, and providing excellent recommendations, not just touristy ones (though we had to push a little to persuade them we lived in NO for years and knew our way around town). All in all, an ideal experience. We will be back (though direct through the hotel, where nicer rooms can be reserved for a comparable price — turns out those third party deals don’t get you the best).

This is not a 4 stars hotel like other Omnis for sure. The room décor is nice like other ones but the bathroom is so disappointed. Bathroom has a stupid layout and cheap materials. Front desk lobby is so small, only 1 person working there. It’s like a small motel.
Bathtub has just one glass door that opens out. Don’t know why they do that because it makes it harder to get in the shower. What’s wrong with having a curtain like all other hotels?

The location of the hotel itself was great as it was about a 2 – 3 block walk from the French Quarter. It was nice as the smells and crowds of the French Quarter didn’t travel to the hotel.
The hotel room itself was fine — nothing spectacular. We booked a double occupancy room which ended up being tucked WAY in the back of the hotel building. Because we were hidden away, our room was skipped for cleaning on one of the days. Not cool. When we pulled back the curtains of the very small window we had, all we saw were the windows of the other rooms that had the same view, a massive drain pipe, and the parking garage. So, natural light was not something we had much of. The bathroom was weird — the shower only had HALF a door. Imagine a shower with a sliding door, usually the part that moves and the part that doesn’t are two separate pieces of glass. This shower only had the non-​moving piece of glass installed so when you showered, water could easily flood the bathroom floor.
Since we booked the room via Rocketmiles, we already paid for the hotel ahead of time. However, about a week later, we received a $ 200 charge from the hotel — no bill or statement about these extra charges so we tried calling the hotel for three days straight — no answer. Even tried checking different sites via Google to make sure we had the right number — all listed the same number.
Got in touch with Rocketmiles to explain what had happened and if they could possibly get in touch with Omni for us — success! HOWEVER, when they told us what the charge was, it was not pleasing. They told us the charge was for parking — valet parking for 5 nights, $ 39.20/per night. Great! An explanation. BUT WE DID NOT BRING A CAR. We flew in from Boston and took a cab to and from the airport and have the receipts to prove it.
No idea if it was a complete mistake on the hotel’s part or if the people in the room next to us gave our room number, but during checkout, there should have been a final summary of charges if there was anything extra other than what we initially paid for. Since we weren’t given any final papers, we checked to make sure our check-​out was complete and they said it was.
We will never consider staying at this location again.

Everything was great. Staff awesome, room fine but I can’t believe an Omni property doesn’t have High Definition TV. Not only was it NOT High Def it is ANALOG. Trying to watch the Saints but impossible. Couldn’t recognize players. Gives a whole new meaning to «Who Dat». I understand you think you can get away from spending the money because most people are out and about but sometimes you need a little break from the excitement of the French Quarter and want to chill in your room. Come on it’s almost 2016.

This hotel was awesome. It was a great price; booked it through Groupon. It was within walking distance from Bourbon Street and the French Quarter/​Market area (about a 15 minute walk). The room was probably one of the nicest rooms I’ve ever stayed in, (and I’ve stayed in A LOT of hotels!) Tall ceilings made everything feel very spacious. The bed was very comfortable and clean. The only issue I had is the lighting, there are 2 or 3 main lamps, but they don’t brighten up the room completely. Oh, and there is free Wi-​Fi but it barely worked in my room (second floor).
I would DEFINITELY stay at this hotel again and recommend it to everyone visiting the area.
The staff was great and accommodating. I arrived early, at 8am, and wanted an earlier check-​in. Check in is usually at 4pm, but my room was ready at 12.

Booked 3 rooms with double beds and requested roll away beds a month before we arrived in July. When we checked in they only had rooms with one bed and the rollaways were not available. We had to book extra rooms to accommodate our party.
Good location but everything else was not up to standards. Don’t waste your money. Stay somewhere else.

We booked this hotel for a getaway with my husband and I which is something we rarely do. When we walked in the room the carpet was very loose. But the room was clean but when we tried to shower it was broken. We called twice to fix it and no one came up to fix it. We found out the night manager lied to another manager about coming up to check and see what was wrong with it. He never came up to help us either time we called. No refund was offered. They did offer breakfast but we already had breakfast plans. Not at all what I would expect from an omni.

What a pleasant surprise on this hotel. Rates were very reasonable during our summer break that I thought it might not be good. However the service was excellent and the location is hard to beat. Walking distance to the French quarter and the large casino in NO.

I stayed here for a conference recently. The location was fine — close enough to both the conference center and the French quarter. My big complaint is that there was an inch long dead cockroach in the bathroom that was there when I arrived on Thursday. I decided to leave it to see how long until it was noticed. It wasn’t gone until Sunday. So that was at least 3 cleanings, 4 if you count the one before I arrived. Definitely not what I would expect from an Omni or any hotel for that matter.
Otherwise I had minor issues with the room — for example — the switch on the hairdryer was broken off but in the on position, so the only way to turn it on and off was by plugging and unplugging it. Without the cockroach, I’d give it 3 stars.

Stayed here in October through a blind booking on Expedia and my boyfriend and I loved it! The staff was incredibly friendly and remembered who we were/​our names. We had a king size room — it was clean, cute, and extremely comfortable. Loved the big windows. The location was great for us.
I would definitely consider staying here the next time I am in town!

Love the property and location. Always get a great night sleep. But it’s the services that have me shopping elsewhere. This place has the worst valets on the planet! One time they left someone’s keys in my car. Another time they Took the antenna off mine and didn’t put it back on. Today 45 minutes waiting… my car is here no keys no valet. Finally found my keys. Great now it’s raining go to get in MY car can’t quite do it because valet moved the seat all the way up close… I’m 6’1″… Move seat back, now quite wet I finally am on my way. If this were the first time I would feel different. But it’s not. It a consistent issue with this location. I’ve filled out surveys and no one does anything to correct the problem.

My wife and I recently stayed at this lovely little hotel, and the proximity to everything you want to see and do, is really unbeatable. The hotel itself is very quaint, with a very personable and accommodating staff. The room was very clean, and the maid service impeccable. There was a good sized fridge, which they referred to as a ‘chiller,’ but we kept everything we wanted in it, and it kept everything fresh to our satisfaction. The room was big, with a large window, which looked out onto the street. It was fine, and if you’ve been to New Orleans before, you already know their streets are narrow and somewhat resemble alleys in big cities. We found it nice, but there was really no view beyond the street and a few highrises peeking through the limited spaces. It was fine since there was plenty of light coming into the giant window, which was the width of the room, and tall. The room had a big desk, bedside end tables with drawers, plenty of dresser space, a large closet with a clothing bar and a safe, as well as an iron. There were comfortable robes too.
I should also mention that the shades and blinds for the room were great, and on very sunny days where we wanted to sleep late, after we stayed out until all hours drinking and eating, the room was kept dark and cave-​like. The thermostat in the room was also very adjustable, meaning you could warm it very quickly to a very warm temperature, or cool it down so a Polar Bear would put a jacket on to be comfortable. We loved the temperature control in the room. It’s important to be comfortable when you sleep, and my wife and I like the room cold, and the bedding warm, and this hotel delivered both. Great temperature control and range, and fantastic sheets, pillows, cover and comforter.
The TV was a large screen with a good amount of channels, and even free movie channels. Where a lot of hotels offer minimal channels, the Omni Royal Crescent was kind enough to offer access to real movie channels, free of charge. There was no hidden incidental charged to my card after our stay. There is a $ 50 a night deposit for incidentals, like all hotels have, but they returned the full amount, so I know they didn’t charge for the movie channels, which we did make use of a few times.
The bathroom was nice, but a little tight around the toilet because the sink ledge was so large, and protruded a bit, but it was fine. The shower was great, with decent spray strength, we both like a sprayer that will strip paint when turned up enough, and this was not of that caliber, but it was adequate. My wife had no complaints about the shower spray. The shower stall was a stone enclosure, and the tub tiles and floor were in perfect condition. There was also a convenient hair dryer. We like a nice bathroom, and this one delivered the goods.
The hallways were clean and charming, and the elevator waiting area was cute and cozy, a little nook with a mirror to primp before heading out to the French Quarter, or elsewhere. The hotel’s lobby was nice too, adorned with a beautiful old clock, some interesting wrought iron fence work, beautiful marble floors, comfortable and elegant furnishings, as well as some very nice chairs and a comfy couch.
The hotel also had a health club which we saw, an additional charge, but we didn’t use it, and a very nice top floor deck lined by trees, and sporting a very large hot tub. The hot tub even had access for disabled people with a device that lowers a chair into the tub. It was really cool to see that. The deck itself was really nice too, a decent view of the surrounding area.
This hotel also has a bar and burger restaurant in it, called ‘Dress It,’ that looked and smelled really good, but we didn’t get the opportunity to enjoy it.
The overall quality of the hotel, combined with a very reasonable price, I absolutely recommend this hotel. The one problem is, you have to pay for internet, unless, and this is key, you sign up for Omni Hotels Select Guest program, which is free, and the first perk they deliver, is free internet. It took me five minutes, or less, to join.
I want to mention that one of their staff members in particular, a charming fellow named Dermot, was hilarious and incredibly personable. I have to say, and I believe my wife would say the same thing, all of their staff was top notch. We went out late one evening, past 2a, and I promised to get the desk concierge a Red Bull, but I forgot, and my wife didn’t remember either, so when we came back, I felt so bad after remembering, I went right back out to get the Red Bull. The concierge insisted I not go back out to get it, and that it wasn’t that important, but they were really all so courteous and professional, that I felt it was the least I could do. Great hotel, great location, great price, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for one of the best values in New Orleans. Solid 5 stars overall!

Arrived a little early, but after dropping our car and luggage with Valet we headed over to the French quartered and walked some till our room was ready. Given we got there two hours early, the room was ready really quick.
Staying over the Christmas holiday it seemed like we had the whole second floor to ourselves. Pretty quiet, and they were happy to accommodate my Boston Terrier while we were there. Would definitely recommend for a convenient hotel just outside the FQ if you’re looking to be close in the CBD, but not surrounded by drunks and tourists.

It’s a little far from where you want to go, but the rooms are clean, nice, and the distance from the action of the French Quarter can be a nice reprieve. If you’re looking to be in the heart of the French Quarter, this is not the place for you, it’s only a 10 – 15 minute walk, but at 2am, it can get a little sketchy because it’s much more quiet. The staff was very nice and helpful, with fantastic personalities. There is also a big jacuzzi on the roof, and a nice gym with a sauna. Cell phone service stunk for tmobile and verizon wasn’t much better, and the WiFi was unreliable in the hotel. Probably wouldn’t stay here again, but this is a nice, average hotel for the right person if the price is right.

Large rooms, classic NOLA architecture with high ceilings and crown molding. Comfy beds, great service and easy valet parking. If you are not a Select Guest member you are missing out on free wifi, free morning beverages (including red bull, juice, coffee, sodas, etc.) and free welcome ammenities.
The DressIt Restaurant and Bar are a bit off the beaten track so never crowded but the service is beyond compare and the food and drinks are very high quality for reasonable prices.
I’ve stayed here 3 – 4 times in last couple years and often find rates that are scary low. Like how do they pay their staff low. But they apparently would rather have guests than not when it is slow in city and my work takes me there in off seasons. The rooms are usually without a view, but consequently they are very very quiet. The AC gets very cold if you want, and the rooms have a mini fridge for leftovers or drinks.

I was very pleased to get this hotel as I booked via Priceline — I bid $ 92/​night for 4 nights and paid $ 437.28 after taxes and fees.
The hotel was pretty perfectly located. A few minutes walk to the French Quarter, but not in it so we could sleep at night. I received a room on the 8^th floor, and the room was spacious and had a Nespresso coffeemaker.
I also had free wifi and a free daily beverage delivered due to the free hotel rewards program.
The staff was great, namely Elrey. Always in a good mood and greeted us every time we came and went from the hotel.
The only negative was when we left the green beads on our door (awesome idea) to indicate we needed housekeeping. We left at 2pm and came back at 8pm to find our room uncleaned. They were able to take care of this in the evening after I called.
I also called for more Nespresso capsules and was brought packaged coffee after a 45 minute wait. I guess other rooms don’t have the Nespresso machine, but they fixed this as well for me.
