New Orleans Downtown Marriott at the Convention Center

Most of the staff were great however, the room had issues with soundproofing. The air vent was like a direct speaker from a room above having a teen party (cheerleading competition at the convention center), from around 9:00 pm to 1:00 am! We complained but got no help and no compensation at checkout.

Great price, good rooms and for the most part good service. Lots of people stay here because it’s so close to the cruise ships but the truth is that it’s not an easy walk. I was very disappointed that the hotel did not have s shuttle. The person at the front counter told us it was just a short walk across the street but obviously they’ve never done the walk because they’re building on the way and it’s very difficult to walk there with your luggage.

Staying here for a wedding in the downtown area. Rate was decent and location is good. Hotel very outdated and room was not very clean when we checked in, I requested additional cleaning services the next day, but not much was different. Very friendly staff, but valet service is very slow, please don’t be in a rush. It’s really close to Harrahs and the Riverwalk outlet. Nice city view and it’s sort of noisy. There was lots of complimentary drinks and snacks during our stay. Parking is 38.00 a day!

The best venue we have ever booked in 12 years hosting national events at every major city in he country! The hotel is beautiful, the staff executed flawlessly and had such an amazing attitude of kindness and support. It was truly a pleasure to work with such a professional team. My clients are all multi million dollar businesses. They are franchised car dealer ships from all over the country and some of them have never been to New Orleans before and were so impressed with their experience! My event manager Jessica was AMAZING! She was so helpful and so kind as was her entire team. Joe (The GM) is a great leader and very lucky to have such an amazing team representing hi and the Marriott! I highly recommend this place if you want to host a workshop or conference or if you want an awesome hotel in the heart of New Orleans!

Very nice hotel. Warm, welcoming lobby with full bar and restaurant off it. I had a corner room that was large, well laid out and very comfortable. The bed was very comfy and the linens were too. Not happy the hotel fire alarm went off at 3:00AM for about 20 seconds. That’ll get you to bolt upright in your bed! The restaurant menu is diverse but land towards seafood naturally. The bar is undersized for how big the hotel is and it was packed when I was there. Still got my drinks ok though! I like this hotel all in all and would definitely return.

Breakfast is what I look forward when I stay at hotel or even at Super8. When I am paying for the breakfast I expect even more… My Sunny side eggs are greasy. Hash browns are dry… Not a pleasant stay for the prices.

Service was great. The rooms were clean and modern. They have a gym (with towels and mini waters) and a pool.
The location is really convenient to a mall, nightlife, and the cruise terminal. My family and I stayed here for one night after a drive down from NYC to NOLA for our cruise. There was ample street parking on Sunday, which was a plus since we didn’t have to pay for valet or a garage. It was a bit of a walk to the French Quarter, but only about a 10 minute drive. There are many restaurants and bars nearby the Downtown Marriott — even Harrah’s Casino is only a block away.
The bellhop was friendly and helpful in assisting our luggage to our rooms and suggesting things to do and see for our short stay in NOLA.

The location of this hotel is perfect if you are attending anything at the convention center, literally walk across the street. The staff was extremely helpful and kind. Every morning they went out of their way to say «hello» and «have a good day.» One evening during my week long stay it poured rain. The staff was very kind to make sure I had an umbrella over my head when getting into a taxi.

Perfect location directly across the street from the Convention center, and in August that’s essential in NOLA!
Staff are very friendly, helpful and services are outstanding. Comfy bed, Thann toiletries and the concierge lounge is fantastic!

This hotel was so so. I would likely not return. The bathroom was nice and modern, the beds comfortable and the front desk staff friendly and helpful. However, the room itself wasn’t the cleanest. In addition we had to request a feather free bed 3 times over 2 days before we finally got someone to take care of it. Meanwhile, my daughter suffered as she’s allergic to down. I requested to have the broken privacy lock repaired twice, but it was never done. We were given one bar of soap and some shower gel. The second day the shower gel disappeared with no new soap or shower gel taking its place. Two requests finally got us more than we needed. Another morning we had no washcloths, despite hanging ours to reuse. I’ve read about good views, but we didn’t get one of those. We overlooked an alley with a building under construction. The construction noises started early in the morning.

Perfect location of you are going to the convention center. Very friendly and helpful front desk staff. Comfortable rooms.

The staff were very helpful and hard working, despite an obvious understaffing problem, and the hotel room was great. My only very major issue was that we were unable to access our room before Orpheuscapade because it wasn’t ready when we arrived to check in at 4:15 (actual check in time was 3). The front desk person said that there were 20 people ahead of us waiting for their rooms. They said they would call us when the room was ready, and that there were nice bathrooms upstairs we could change in (which is what we had to do, as the event started at 6). I had to call the front desk while at the ball around 10 to make sure we had a room to go to, which they confirmed was ready, however no one from the hotel called to tell us this. I suspect the room was actually ready for us while we were changing in the upstairs bathrooms.
We live in New Orleans and work full time, so the only two reasons we needed this hotel room were for a place to quickly change before the event and a place to crash after the ball, the first of which was not met. So essentially, we paid $ 300 to change in a hotel bathroom. I could have changed in my own bathroom at home and taken a cab after the ball for $ 30. The excuse I received from the front desk upon checking in at 1 AM was that the hotel had to «flip 331 rooms for the large influx of guests, due to Mardi Gras».
Mardi Gras happens every year, and your hotel is situated directly across the street from the Convention Center. If you can’t handle the influx of guests, perhaps you should reevaluate your business practices.
We will not be returning to stay at this hotel for Orpheuscapade, nor for any other reason. I highly recommend others to either book elsewhere or arrive a day earlier than your event to avoid having to put on a ball gown in a public hotel bathroom.

Stayed here last weekend. It was OK. While the lobby and entrance are nice, the rooms are OK.
As a platinum Marriott member, an upgrade, if available, upon check-​in is granted. The upgrade was to an «executive room» two FULL size beds! I would’ve likely been better off keeping the original rooms. Wasn’t too happy about that.
The concierge lounge was TERRIBLE! The food and the service.

This is the second time in two years we have spent one night at the New Orleans Downtown Marriott at the Convention Center. Not the biggest, not the newest hotel in NOLA, but perfectly positioned — for us – to access to the convention Center, Riverwalk and the Cruise Terminal.
We find the rooms very clean and comfortable … just what you world expect at a Marriott. I have to agree with the other Unilocal reviewers, who feel the hotel is understaffed. it certainly feels that way.
And this morning, the Concierge Lounge was a disaster. I felt very sorry for the one overworked and under appreciated Concierge, struggling to clear tables and keep the breakfast bar stocked, as families pushed in, demanding and whining and grabbing. Hey Marriott, on a Saturday, you know the place is going to be packed, you should of staffed at least one busser and two Concierges to handle a packed house.

Not a bad place to stay at all. The room must have been recently remodeled and good size. It’s great if you want to hang out in the warehouse district. There are lots of bars and restaurants within walking distance. If you want to go to the French Quarter, it’ll take some walking. So it depends on what you’re looking for.
They have a Starbucks onsite. There are a lot of art galleries on Julia street, which is walking distance. And the River walk mall is across the street.
I would totally stay there again.

Service at the front desk and in Wolfe’s (restaurant) is somewhat lacking. On day two of our stay, as we did with day one, we informed the server that we had purchased the breakfast with our room. Despite the fact that we checked with the front desk to confirm that we did not need to do anything special, we were charged additionally for this breakfast.
On day two, we also were greeted by the hostess at breakfast, but not by a waitress until we had finished our meals.
On the final day, I brought the wrong charges to the attention of the front desk, and the clerk there was not exactly rude, but sort of acted like we were inconveniencing her by having to take the extra charge off of our bill. I explained the issue, and she said nothing, just took the bill and disappeared into the back room for a few minutes. She came back out a few minutes later, and simply asked «checking out?“I said «not yet,» we just wanted to verify that the breakfast was taken off the bill. She said nothing again, then vanished into the back room again, again returning a couple of minutes later with a revised bill. Not exactly the friendliest to service.
Also, during the final hours of our stay, someone attempted to get into our room, presumably to make it up. Checkout is at noon, it was only 9:30, and we had the do not disturb sign on the door.

This Marriott was OK. Good location.
Parking was odd b/​c it’s offsite & they do warn you that it could take up to an hour to get your car. Day after Mardi Gras with groups of people leaving I think it only took us about 15 minutes.
I also dropped off my luggage before check in & they hounded me with calls until I returned. Kind of weird but better that than forget me.
Got a call at 7am that the top floors had flooded & engineers would be coming by. Our check out time was shortly after so we just left but didn’t see any evidence of flooding.
Did see lots & lots of boa feathers under the beds so not sure how well they clean.

My most recent visit to this locale was for Continuing Legal Education… We were in the upstairs area for our classes and it’s very nice up there… The chairs were comfortable and we had access to free wifi so you could check work email as well as other things to occupy your time while you obtain your mandatory hours… They had the typical spread of croissants, muffins, fresh fruit, tea, 4 different kinds of Starbucks coffee… I only drink coffee if it’s after midnight and I’m at a Waffle House in the company of ladies who dance for money… but if they ain’t there I’ll still drink coffee…
I was glad to see our hotel hosts offered a bottled water option cause that’s what I prefer when I’m attending one of these programs…
Also back in Feb ’12 I slept a drunken few hours here after attending the Orpheus Ball post-parade…the room was nice, bed comfy… good stay!
The locale is good… need a taxi to the Quarter if that’s your bent but right behind you is the Warehouse District and a close walk to Ernst, Manning’s, Grand Isle, Vic’s Kangaroo, Lucy’s…also if you go out the back thru Wolfe’s, Rock’n Sushi and The Root is right there a short jaunt to your right… To your left from the front of the hotel down at the corner of Julia you have access to the Riverwalk plus a Mulate’s to eat should you desire… Also this location has an in house Starbucks accessible from the lobby or the outside on Convention Center Boulevard…

I would recommend this place if you were going to be stuck at the Convention Center the entire time you’re in New Orleans and just wanted to crawl to your room to sleep at the end of the day.
Checkout time seems to be rather hectic, and a little under-​staffed.

I think this is the place to stay in the Warehouse District. I love the location right across the street from the Convention Center and right behind Fulton St. (which has quite a few wonderful bars and restaurants).
Pros:
— Simply refreshing beds!
— Helpful and friendly staff
— Clean rooms
— Great location!
— Lots of meeting space here
— Business Center and Gym
Cons:
— No free wifi in the rooms ($ 14.95/day)
— Valet service is kind of slow considering they park the cars only two blocks away.
— The food at the restaurant is a waste of one’s appetite but I think the staff is great.
Overall, a solid hotel with wonderful beds!
