New Orleans Carriage Cab

The driver, a young man from Bulgaria, couldn’t be bothered to stop playing the poker game on his smart phone as he navigated through traffic. When we asked him to put the phone down, he then spent some time trying to find music on his phone. This was the first, and last, time we used someone other that United Cab!

If there was a zero, I would check it. Online reservations were unanswered. A phone reservation went unanswered. Don’t even bother attempting contact.

No stars. absolutely the worst cab service. I made a reservation online for a cab and they never showed up. gave them another chance made a reservation online again to around 4:30pm to be picked up at 9:30 pm for work. driver called said he was two or three minutes away. never showed and phone kept going to voicemail and once again can’t get to work. will not ever be using this company again. and don’t leave anything in cabs on accident you will never get it back

Be careful with Dimitri, he took us for a ride the wrong direction… remember companies we have phones with GPS… so get your selves some ethics and don’t try to take the long route… when I said something he got annoyed… not a great choice for a ride… but what can I ou choose from… permit number 4LDR-​9 927…when I asked if I should consider his driver number he said you won’t remember ah but I do have a camera.

Couldn’t give them zero stars or minus stars. Horrible. Cabs not maintained. Driver was nasty and called me an assh0le when I refused to let him charge the fare on his personal square reader instead of the cabs terminal. He wanted to make sure I couldn’t complain or get money back. Knocked my wife’s bag over on purpose upon departure.
His trunk alarm beeped the entire way from downtown to the airport. I complained and he said «oh well, I can turn the radio up, too bad». That is against taxi regulations in NOLA.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

DRUNK DRIVER!
After an exhausting day following a car breakdown in the countryside, we hailed a cab from this company near an Uptown auto shop. Driver introduced himself as «Jason.» Cab was in terrible condition: trash on the floor, awful smell and a big gash in the seat. Driver pulled out a full Coca-​Cola bottle, the old glass kind, and took a swig then announced «it’s only soda!» though I hadn’t said anything. Driver repeatedly missed turns even though I insisted on taking a particular route (such as turning onto St. Charles after we asked to take Claiborne). Driver continued to drink from the bottle while driving. We finally arrive home and he says don’t worry about the fare, «just give me whatever cash you got.» I didn’t have cash. Driver insisted he’d give us a half-​rate, though I hadn’t asked for a discount. I think he was trying to be a nice guy but also covering up for bad behavior yet to dawn upon me. Paying with a card took a while, we didn’t receive any discount but I just wanted to get out of that cab. The card payment finally went through and we hopped out.
Soon as we stepped out of the cab I realized what was going on. Our driver was drunk, continuing to drink and still picking up passengers. I was thankful we made it home alive. In the future I’d rather walk than travel with this company again — I wouldn’t want to face the risk!

Spent about 20 minutes getting a ride from a driver with this company that fits the definition of the most ignorant, arrogant, bigoted, and dangerous person I have ever had the displeasure of being in a car with. Some of the winning moments included his having the music cranked so loud that I had to ask him to turn it down to let him know our destination. His response was fully disgruntled. He proceeded to share with us his horrible opinions about transgender and gay lifestyles while looking to us for our buy in. His trip to the airport prior to picking us up which included his paranoia of using the bathroom there and why he proudly carries a gun. His screaming and yelling at traffic in the Quarter when a horse drawn carriage didn’t move fast enough. When asking where we were from, followed up with «do people carry more knives or guns there»? The comments about both his big future in daiquiri sales in Atlanta and other options that might «just get a n*gga locked up». If this weren’t enough he failed to run the meter, stopped unexpectedly at a hotel and said «I’m gonna use the toilet, I’ll be back in 5 minutes», and displayed none of the required credentials for even driving a taxi. His only, and I mean only saving grace was that he didn’t try and rip us off with the fare.

Cab driver was obnoxious and appeared visibly drunk. He claimed to not have a credit system, but then when we asked for change from the order, said he had none either. I hope nobody for uses this service for both your safety or your wallet.

The most horrible taxi drive ever!
The taxi driver was speeding as crazy and dangerously tailgating cars on our way from the airport. On my pleas to drive safer, he reacted with anger and, as I continued insisting on more careful driving, he started slowing down on the left lane of the Interstate (I-​10) and threatening to let us out right there. Well, my promise to call police kept him on driving…
During the rest of the trip he was extremely angry and was shouting that nobody could tell him how to drive and he didn’t care what I thought about his driving style because only he with his experience could know what is safe and what is not… Well, eventually we got to the destination and nobody got hurt…

Why doesn’t Unilocal have a zero review option? My life was threatened last night and the driver’s license plate number is QTNX 1480 if you see that license plate it is dangerous for you to get in period. I wanted to have a dinner at the grape vine restaurant last night at 9:00pm so I walked over to Harrah’s hotel in the convention center and this huge red SUV pulled up and I got in hoping to get to the restaurant on time before dinner stopped being served. When he dropped me off I handed him my card and he seemed agitated. There were no credit card machines in the vehicle and I explained I don’t carry cash on me. He got all huffy with me and pulled out his credit card square so he could swipe my card but the card was declined odd I though I know I had funds in it. I gave him a different card and again he swiped it too fast and I asked If I might try so when I tried to help he threatened me and said you ugly woman you filthy ugly woman if you don’t fucking get out of my car I will kill you. I had tried to suggest the atm machine at the hotel right next to us but he kept yelling at me and calling me ugly repeatedly so I jumped out took a photograph of his license plate and called the number on his vehicle which is (504) 207‑7777. This guy then got out of his car and tried to hit me but two drunk guys were walking down Orleans Avenue right as he was attempting to grab me and I ran into the restaurant all shaken up. Thank God i photographed the license plate number. I called the dispatcher and she pretended to care but told me the owner of this company will call me today early in the morning and he never did. I also filed a complaint by email on their website twice and never heard back from anyone. I had to call the compliance board and I am willing to now testify under oath but I may not wish to stay in New Orleans that much longer. It’s dangerous here when cab drivers can create racial slurs against you. I did not include all of what he called me but do the math he obviously did not like my last name for certain reason and he was itching to hit me hard. Do not use this service this guy as i recall did not have his badge on the back of the seat at all it was like he was purposefully hiding something and the fact that he did not have a real credit card machine on the back of his seat is also illegal in New Orleans. His square did not work at all I called my bank and they told me they did not even see the transaction go through. It was a stupid $ 5.00 cab ride I tried to tip him $ 3.00 if he hadn’t kept calling me an ugly woman and an ugly beast and simply asked if we could pull cash from an ATM machine this could have been avoided. Do NOT use this cab for that matter no one seems to care anyway since the owner never once called as promised.

Used their service 3 times this past weekend without any issues. 1^st time was by accident as our scheduled cab from United was late then picked up the wrong group a half a block away. Thanks for verifying the names jackass. Anyway we flagged down a guy from here and was very happy with his professionalism. Got us to the wedding with minutes to spare. So scheduled him to take us back to the hotel after then to the airport yesterday. Since airport run was flat fare he gave us quick tour of Tulane and some other local history while bypassing the Saints traffic. Thanks Martin!

Horrible cab service – yet another reason for Über and Lyft to make it to NOLA. Cabs are ALWAYS very late and frequently cancel. Drivers are brusque and rude, and have «broken» card readers suspiciously often.
The only bright side is the cars seem to be clean and relatively new compared to one I’ve picked up in the quarter or uptown.

I ordered cab service on Wednesday morning from my place in Kenner to the airport (approx 5 miles) at 6am. The driver passed me twice even though I was waiting out front by the office waving my arms with my cell phone lit. Never bothered to call, only finally did I get to cab when calling the company twice and actually walking out of complex. By then he was over 10 min late. He didn’t run the meter and then charged me $ 25 for a 5 mile cab ride when it’s only $ 30 to go all the way from airport to French quarter. Then said he couldn’t take my card because he didn’t run the meter and I had to go inside airport while he held my luggage hostage when I was already late because of him and pay a $ 3 service fee to take cash out of the ATM! Unreal. Worst service ever and am pretty sure I got ripped off seeing as no meter was used. I will NEVER use this can service again. If you want to be on time and not ripped off I suggest you look elsewhere.

People make sure that you never leave/​forget anything a their cabs because they will not try to help you get it back even if you call them within minutes of noticing that you forgot your item in their cab. They won’t even check their cameras that are in the cabs to see if they can help you. BAD business.

I ordered a taxi through Taxi Magic and it never showed up. I ordered it at 5:30 for a 6:15 pick up on a Sat evening (not during a major event). I got the confirmation from Taxi Magic that New Orleans Carriage Cab would be picking me up at 6:15. I called Carriage Cab at 6:15 and they said they were not taking reservations today and that I would need to wait another 15 – 30 minutes. They could not tell me why Taxi Magic said that my cab was reserved through them. I will never use Taxi Magix or Carriage Cabs again. I will just continue to call United directly which is not perfect either but at least better than this mess.

Imagine, if you will, having to arrive at the airport at 5am. You think to yourself, hmmm, I should stay near the airport and have a taxi pick me up at 4:30 so I can have plenty of time to get there. What could go wrong?!
Like the previous reviewer, I was also worried about getting a taxi in the early morning for a super early flight so I booked the day prior to my flight and asked for a cab to pick me up at 4:30am. Granted, I booked through Taxi Magic, but Carriage Cab was the company that they used. Anyway, at 4am, I received a text saying that my cab had been cancelled. No explanation. I called the company and they said that they were not sure why I had received that message and that the driver was on his way. 4:30 rolls around and NOTHING. I called back at 4:36 and they told me that the cab was on his way. NOTHING. They called me at 4:40 and asked if the taxi had arrived. It had not and they told me that they would re-​dispatch a driver and that it would be there in 10 minutes. 10 minutes went by and, not surprisingly, nothing. At 4:50, I received another call, this time from the driver. He said he’d be there in 10 minutes. As I had to be at the airport at 5am (I was only about 10 minutes away from the airport), I told him to forget it and I was fortunately able to find alternate transportation. I can’t even imagine the state I would have been in had I not been able to find transportation.
The only nice thing I can say is that the people from the main office were pleasant enough. However, I can’t say I would ever trust this service to get me someplace on time.

I was beyond impressed by their service, that it motivated me to get on Unilocal after a good two years absent. I went to NOLA alone for a week in February. I was worried about a taxi taking me to the airport at 4am and after reading numerous reviews on Unilocal,the taxi’s in the area either didn’t show up or came late on reservations. I found their site by random and filled out their online reservation form. When I filled out the form there wasn’t a section for the date needed for the reservation so I called them to ask if I missed it or can inform them of the date. The lady on the phone was informative and assured me that she would pass on the information to the driver.
The morning on my reservation at 4am, the driver called me at 3:30am to let me know he was on his way, I told him I would be outside because I didn’t want to miss the taxi, he insisted it didn’t seem safe and said he would call me when he was outside, 15 mins later he called me and meet him at the door and helped me with my luggage. I was beyond floored because in California if you aren’t outside they just keep driving, and I was alone and it was 4am and I wasn’t staying at a hotel. Believe me it was appreciated! I will be only going through these guys for my taxi in NOLA. A+
