Muddy Mutts

Muddy Mutts has saved my life, and my back! I used to dread washing my 70 lb. mutt in my tub at home because it was a back breaker, a constant battle with my pup, and not to mention my house smelled like wet dog for 2 days. It’s $ 10 to use the facility which includes your own gated stall, a raised tub with steps so your fur baby can easily walk in, a collar that hooks to the wall so they can’t escape, brushes, tools, and towels. The only thing I have to bring is his medicated shampoo, but if your dog isn’t as high maintenance as mine you won’t even need that. My favorite part is the industrial drier that’s so powerful water just blows right off his fur. They even have aprons to use so you don’t get soaked while washing. It’s great because I can be in and out in 20 minutes instead of dropping him off at the groomer for half a day. They also have a retail area where you can buy food, toys, treats, ect. This is a brilliant business idea. I just wish I thought of it first! Also, you get your 10^th wash free!

Very cool idea, and wish this were in Houston. I know they have do it yourself dog washes at some of the pet stores home, but I really liked this one. We came here on our first day in New Orleans, as being in a small car with my dog for almost six hours made me realize that he’s kind of stinky!
First off, the price is great! I paid a little over twenty dollars for a bag of dog food and a wash with a de-​shed shampoo and conditioner. The walk in tubs are ginormous, and as far as I know, there’s no time limit for how long you can be there. Aprons and towels are provided, so you literally don’t have to bring anything but your dog. The only thing I didn’t like was that the dryer only blew out cold air. I have a cocker spaniel with medium length fur, so it took a little longer to get him mostly dry, but again, there’s no rush, so I worked with it. It’s a few days later, and my little guy is still very soft, and not at all stinky!

I’ve always wanted to open a place like this so I’m kinda upset that someone did it before me. Lol BUT — Kudos! It’s so convenient! The hours are awesome! Monday: Closed, Tuesday-​Thursday: 1:00pm 6:00pm, Friday-​Saturday: 10:00am 6:00pm. And!!! Drum roll please? Sunday: 10:00am 2:00pm! The prices are so reasonable and the tubs are high so your pup is more than likely not to jump out.
So the prices first depends on the size of your pup. I believe* it’s small, medium, large, and extra large. And prices obviously varies with that. I’ll edit my review with the specific prices and include pics. But each ad signal wash will be $ 5 and all washes include: shampoo, aprons, ear and eye washes, nail buffers, brushes, and unlimited access to tubs and dryers.
It was my first time going, but needless to say — I’ll be back! It’s difficult to bathe my girls at home so Muddy Mutts is a godsend. Haha! Try taking a bath for a full grown Siberian Husky that’s coat seems to be ALWAYS blowing, and a full grown Pitbull/​Lab mix that wiggles non stop! Anyways, Muddy Mutts is awesome!

I wash my dog at home, but I get my dog food from Casey at Muddy Mutts. She took the time to explain the options and helped me find exactly what I was looking for. We went with a grain-​free, natural dog food with added vitamins & minerals but no artificial preservatives, flavors or colors. No corn, wheat or soy and it’s made in the USA. Very comparable to Blue Buffalo but cheaper!

Great place to give your doggy a bath! If you don’t have a place, bath, or hose, it’s here! There’s 4 stalls that are huge and raised up, so not a whole lot of squatting and bending is necessary. They provide bathing supplies, aprons, gloves, brushes, and a dryer. It’s really nice!

This is the place. Really nice staff, clean wash stations, reasonable prices, accommodating. Great place to take your dog especially if you are traveling like I was.

Muddy Mutts is great! The staff is great and the equipment is top-​notch! I definitely recommend it. It’s much easier than bathing at home or outside with the hose.

After a romp through the soggy dog park last night, I blanched at my gal pal that we would be going home with smelly, muddy dogs. «Let’s go to Muddy Mutts real quick!»
I didn’t know what kind of place we’d be pulling up to at 7:30 at night on a Tuesday, but Muddy Mutts would have exceeded any expectation I had. The place is well lit and absolutely adorable. The bath area is separated from the storefront by a white picket fence and the floor is astro-​turf. The place was spotlessly clean and really well organized.
The employees didn’t bat an eye when we rolled in 30 minutes before closing time. They judged both of our dogs to need the «medium» package which included 8 oz of shampoo — this was MORE than enough for my 60 lb Labrador. They have 3 standard shampoos to choose from (2 aloes and one coconut — I absolutely chose the coconut), and additional shampoos and conditioners to add on for a fee of $ 1, $ 2, or $ 3.
The bath area is set up pretty ingeniously — your pooch walks up a set of stairs right into the tub. I wish there was a way to partition the dog into the tub instead of just hooking a slip lead around their neck. My dog’s first instinct was to turn around and walk out of the tub! Anyway, the employees deliver to you a basket with the shampoo you chose in the appropriate bottle size (use the whole bottle!), mint-​scented ear cleaner, eye cleaner, nail files, a brush, and cotton balls. The stations were already equipped with scrub brushes, aprons, and towels. Each station has a blow dryer as well.
This was so much nicer than washing my dog on my knees in the bathtub at home. I barely had to bend at all while washing him, and each tub has a hand held shower head attachment for easy rinsing. Just knowing that I’m not clogging up the tub and I don’t have to clean the bathroom is piece of mind!
My pup pouted just right when we were done to get a hedge hog shaped dental treat on our way out the door, bringing my total price to $ 14.65! I can’t wait to go back — I definitely want to try the conditioners!
This would be a fun place to bring the kids, and this is a great option if the pooch needs a bath but you don’t want to pay $ 40 for a groom!

Muddy Mutts rocks!
I’m currently fostering a dog who has a propensity to get smelly pretty fast but I live in a small studio in the Quarter with no hose that isn’t conducive to washing her. A friend recommended Muddy Mutts and I was happy to make the trip out to Lakeview to check it out.
It is a small business on the quiet, slow end of Harrison. The interior is bright and welcoming and the girl at the front was so sweet and accommodating. She understood my foster was skittish and walked me through the whole process.
I didn’t realize it was «do it yourself» until I got there which was a daunting concept considering my killer hangover on a Friday morning, but the super easy set-​up made the whole process a breeze. There was a rubber apron for me to wear to protect my clothes and a bunch of tools (bath mitts, combs, brushes, nail files, etc) to use. The big walk-​in bath basin had a removable shower head and the wash I selected came with a complementary bottle of shampoo. They also have ear cleaner and eye cleaner (for smaller pups with angel eyes) and cotton balls.
After the wash they have a hose dryer right there on the other end of the tub to dry your dog quickly. My dog was scared of it so thankfully they had a stack of towels stocked as well.
The front of the store has a bunch of different toys and treats and they even had a section for cats, which I appreciated! Lastly, the prices were more than fair. My wash cost $ 12.
I can’t recommend Muddy Mutts enough!
