Leah’s Pralines

I ordered pralines for my wedding favors from Leah’s. They took my order over the phone and had it ready for pick up as promised. I received glowing reviews from my wedding guests about the pralines.

Every New Orleans trip I make, I stop by Leah’s for their addictive pecan brittle, and often try other items and each becomes my new favorite. I came in with a friend while wandering around the French Quarter on my first day in town and I bought a number of pecan brittle packages but also got a dark chocolate pistachio bar, a dark chocolate turtle, and a dark chocolate toffee. I split the three candies with my friend and we both really enjoyed devouring them. I knew she would because I remembered from when we were roommates in California that she had a taste for chocolate toffee. Ex-​roomie commented that I always find the best food places in whatever town I’m in and I told her that I indulge my vices all in one week during my annual trip to New Orleans and it’s a good thing we were walking around for 2 hours to work some of it off.
In the past, I’ve enjoyed almost everything there from frosted pecans, chocolate almond bars, cajun mud, pralines, chocolate pralines, creamy pralines, pralettes (mini-​pralines) and the decadent chocolate-​dipped pecan brittles. Later in the week, I came back for more pecan brittle to send home with friends on their flight back to the East Coast.

We checked out multiple places selling the infamous NoLA pralines, but found the actual pralines waaay too sweet. So instead, on the advice of a friend, we stopped by here to try the pecan brittle. AMAZING! All souvenirs for friends, family, and coworkers: purchased. Knocking off one star because it’s pricey stuff, haha.

A cute little shop that offers a wide variations of different unique treats. They offer tasting that you can try! Personally I am not a big fan of Pralines but if I have to pick a my fav it would be coconut or pecan pralines. The desert which I would highly recommend in this shop is Chocolate Dipped Oreos. It’s soooo delicious and satisfying! It tastes like a piece of heaven.

Pralines are good, however the people who work there are rude and impatient. Especially the young lady with the short hair.

These pralines really are the best in NOLA as far as I can tell. I pick some up every time I visit the area.

Get the bacon pecan!!! I got the bacon praline which was like omg what the goodness is that!!! Also the frosted pralines, orange spiced pralines and praline petites! The people working there were so sweet im going to come back on my next trip!

This shop is very small but they have loads of pralines. I didn’t venture off to try anything aside from the traditional ones and they did not disappoint. They were a bit expensive but it was worth it. We got a package of the small ones for $ 10 and a dozen regular for $ 25. So we walked out paying around 40 for pralines… but we had told people back home we would bring them some. If you just want a taste and don’t want to spend too much I’d just get the small ones. I think that’s what we will do next time. Overall very good and we will be back!

EXPENSIVE. Would’ve loved to try the bacon brittle, but $ 10 for a small bag?! Crazy pants!
We got a single praline and a small bag of brittle. Appreciated that this place was;t mass produced and you could taste the love, but still, was hard to swallow that price tag.

Oh dear Lord in heaven!!! DUDE, bacon brittle… need I say more?! They make this stuff fresh in house and it is like a dessert lovers crack it is so good! Its a bit pricy at 10 bucks for 5 ounces, but let me tell you, why don’t you just splurge a little bit and get you about 40 dollars worth, because if you don’t, you are going to with you did. The saltiness of the bacon with the sweetness of the brittle is a match made in heaven. I can’t forget to mention their pralines, I did like that as well, but the bacon brittle won me over!

You simply cannot go to New Orleans without buying some pralines! This was my first visit to NOLA and my Northern Cali friend asked me to send him some pralines. I bought a box of them to give as gifts. I’m not a huge praline fan… unless it is praline and cream ice cream. However, I tried one… and then another. The people who received them as gifts were happy and there is one still lurking in my pantry :-)

We happened upon Leah’s pralines when booking our wedding directly across the street at Antoine’s. Convenient! We ordered custom-​labeled traditional pralines as favors for our guests and although we purchased 20 extras, they were gone before the wedding was over.
Everything at Leah’s is amazingly fresh. I would guess they made our pralines day-​of.
We may or may not have also wandered in later for some bacon pecan brittle and fudge.

Huge variety of pralines and other chocolates right off of Bourbon St. The creamy pralines were good but the dark chocolate turtle was excellent.
We loved that they offered samples and a basket of «reject» pralines for $ 1.

Oh man the magical aromas that lured me in from the Quarter and seeing the sign that said «We have Bacon Pecan Brittle.» I had to walk in and see what this was all about. The smell of the bacon instantly makes you kind of hungry. It smells so darn good! At first glance looking at the ingredients: Bacon Pecan Brittle? Doesn’t that just stir your curiosity? Sampled it and I was like «damn!!! That is Fleur de Lis delish!» The combo works beautifully. I’m in SoCal and I can still relive that moment. This is a great gift fr the Quarter so pick up a bunch and share Leah’s luv.

I was looking for something sweet to take home with us and there are surely plenty of praline shops to choose from in NOLA. Leah’s isn’t another souvenir shop, it’s a candy shop. Cute with lots of treats but they focus on the good stuff. I find praline to be a bit too sweet and indulgent for me. But the brittle, love! Salty sweet is my favorite kind of sweet. And they let you sample them. It’s a bit pricey, about 10 bucks for a small bag. Happy I got some though!

Stopped in twice last week and fell in love with the bacon brittle. The vreamy praline is is a sweet, gooey, buttery love fest as well but the bacon brittle is orgasmic!
Staff super friendly and hslpful land they let you sample just about anything in there. This is what baffles me about the ridic review left because the pralines weren’t «chewy» but an employee told her they were… First of all, it’s a matter of individual perception and all you had to do was ask for a sample OR just buy 1 to see if you liked it… Le sigh… s

If You have a sweet tooth, don’t go in here! You will walk out with a bag full of items that you just can’t resist, like Bacon Pecan brittle. Everyone knows you shouldn’t eat such a thing don’t they? I don’t personally like Pralines all that much, but this shop has many other things that I do like.

First and foremost, I LOVE NOLA!!! I had to shout that out.
ok​.so I recently went to Nola again and went directly to Leahs Pralines. Imho, I have to say her Pralines win over Southern Candymakers, NOT that I’m knocking SC because they are good also. They are my second favorite actually. There is just something about the smooth creaminess and flavor of Leahs that make her pralines so decadent with that melt in your mouth goodness. I was there EVERY DAY buying up batches to bring back to NYC for myself and as gifts for friends. I even held on to a couple of pralette bags (mini pralines that you can pop in your mouth) that were meant to be given away cause I refused to part with them. I also bought bags of her PECAN and BACON brittle!!! Sweet and Salty with tiny bits of bacon beggin’ to be sucked down… JUST AMAZING! You best believe when I am done with my last two, the Miss Piggy in me will be ordering them online.
So if you ever get the chance to go to an amazing city such as NOLA, RUNNNNNN to LP and tell them Maria sent you… lol

I hate to give such a poor review, but I feel customer service and HONESTY!!! Are the best quality to have in a business!!! My mother and I walked into this store, and we asked the lady working if they had chewy pralines! YES there is a huge difference and this does exist!!!
She stated clear as day to my mother, we don’t have chewy pralines! A gentleman came from the back speaking loudly, yes we do it’s all chewy, everyone is different etc…
So my mom being nice decided to purchase it since he was so DARN SURE!
We paid $ 28.87 for 12 pralines that weren’t chewy! We left came back to Unilocal and found LAURA’s which is the BEST SHOP for everything pralines and authentic candies! My mom was embarrassed and was even wiling to trash the candies instead of retuning them!!! (HELL NO)
I went back and told them I needed a refund! I was told OMG that’s a first, we never did a refund on candy! After all it’s candy!(yes the gentlemen) did the talking! I said I came in no more then 2 – 3 minutes ago, so it shouldn’t matter! Box is sealed and never opened!!!
Needless to say I got my money back, and a valuable lesson!!! Never go to this damn candy shop!!! I hope the owner reads this because he/​she needs to know the employees they have!!!
