Love this place. The man that checked us in was delightful. We stayed in room 22 & the view from the balcony was beautiful and the room was huge-​tiny bathroom but that’s to be expected in a house that old. Loved the communal kitchen. Very comfortable & private stay. Great location. No complaints.

Not a bad stay. Staff was very attentive. Room 35 was fine, however the room is too small for two queen beds. There would definitely not be enough room for 4 people. The bed was very comfortable, but I honestly didn’t feel the bedding was that fresh. Not dirty, just, I don’t know– did not have a fresh clean smell. The bathroom was extremely small. Hot water took awhile but when it finally got hot it was nice and hot. Air conditioner worked well. There were two closets which was nice, but no dresser. The wire shelves in the big closet were really really dirty. There was also a lot of dirt up the stairs and it just looked like the common areas up stairs needed a really good vacuuming/​cleaning. The décor is lovely, although the lighting is a bit too bright and garish. The coffee was very good. The breakfast was nothing special, mostly basic stuff you would have at home, but the fresh biscuits were very good though! No real space to eat, just one table. You kind of needed to take your stuff back up to your room. Wifi did not work in our room. The location is just off all the craziness on Bourbon, and there is the oldest bar right next door the Lafitte Blacksmith which was very cool and always packed with people. Oh, one small anecdote about whether or not it is haunted. In the middle of the night I was awakened by what sounded like 3 or 4 women’s voices singing. It sounded like hymns or something. I sat up and looked around and kept hearing it and then it stopped. Have no idea what it was. If we go back to New Orleans, we wouldn’t mind staying here again, but would not seek it out specifically again.

We just got back from our trip and stayed at the Lafitte Guesthouse for 5 days in the haunted room 21. All I can say is that this is one of the best places I have ever stayed. It felt like home. Seriously. The staff was friendly and talkative, the open communal kitchen was filled with sodas, juice, water, fruit, and snacks all for free. When we woke up in the morning, it was to the smell of coffee and bacon. Our private balcony was fantastic, we used our computers on it to check mail and play games. The wifi wasn’t bullet proof, but it was good enough. We had some ghostly happenings in and around our room, so we were super stoked about that. Some say that the bar next door is loud– to them I say wear earplugs, it isn’t that bad and it is great to sit up on the balcony and people watch. Unless someone else pays for my trip and I don’t have a choice where I stay, I won’t ever stay anywhere else! Can’t wait to get back there.

We stayed at Lafitte Guest House the weekend after Christmas. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would very likely return — if they get the wifi issue fixed.
We had rooms 40 and 33; 40 is the attic room and perfect for a family with children. There were two beds in there and plenty of room to drop an air mattress (or two!) if you needed.
Here are some random thoughts in no particular order:
LOCATION: brilliant. At the «quieter» end of Bourbon Street. Everything is within walking distance. French Market 5 minutes, Jackson Square 10 minutes. Probably an excellent place to book during Mardis Gras, though like everywhere else the rack rates double. We considered switching our February booking from the Roosevelt to LFGH, but didn’t want to pay more than we already were.
PARKING: they do have a small lot; you leave your keys so they can shuffle cars around. I thought the $ 30/​day parking fee was ridiculous, but. what can ya do. Not many other alternatives that we saw.
STAFF: very friendly! From booking to check-​out, they went our of their way to make our stay a good one.
WIFI: sucks. It didn’t work very well at all while we were there; couldn’t get it in our rooms. This would stop us from returning if not fixed.
WATER: as stated by others, you need to wait a few minutes for it to heat up. Once it does. it does!
After reading some other reviews I realize the wifi is an ongoing issue; staff told us it was «recently» broken. We won’t consider staying at LFGH again until we see reviews that state it is working.

I have stayed at the LaFitte Guest House many times for the Halloween Parites in the French Quarter that benefit Project Lazarus. The Guest house itself is comfortable and clean in a prime location actually on Bourbon St. It is close enough to all the action sights and attractions of the French Quarter, but also far enough away from the noise for it to have a peaceful atmosphere for a restful night’s sleep.
The front desk staff is not on the ball, so you’ll have to watch your reservations and billing carefully and keep accurate records… because they may not. More than one party checked in the same day as I and found their reservations were lost, and they had no accommodation waiting for them. I didn’t wait around to hear the outcome of their story.
Friends of mine were also staying there in another building across the street. They arrived at the proper time to check in, but had to wait over 3 hours for their room to be cleaned before they could be shown to their room. After they’d finally moved in and settled into their room, the manager informed them that they were shown into another guest’s room by mistake and were taken down a narrow alley to the back of the same building to where their room actually was… and it still was not clean or ready for them. The maids were still in there working after all that time wasted. This is unacceptable.
I had paid for my room well in advance and brought all my e-​mails of «payment in full» with me. I had no problem checking in on my October 2014 trip.
On a past visit the front desk staff tried to tell me I still owed them money upon check out. I pulled out my e-​mail receipt and showed them I had paid in full and they backed down. I don’t know if it was a scam or if they really were clueless as to what was going on with their reservations, but since then I’ve made it a point to cover my ass when I travel just in case these incidents arise. The staff is my only complaint about staying at the LaFitte Guest House. – they were polite, just clueless and unprofessional. I really do not know if I will stay there again. There are so many other places to explore in the French Quarter.
The grand parlor has been redecorated since my last stay. It once resembled a beautiful manor house from the 1800’s, but its now stark white and looks very much like the Coven house from American Horror Story, season 3. The parlor is also used for an art gallery for local artists.
In closing, I have enjoyed past visits to this B&B. My 2014 really made me wonder if I’ll ever return. They really dropped the ball during this visit.

I’ve stayed here twice — Pre and post remodel/​ownership. This is a lovely place with historic charm coupled with relaxing balconies over looking the FQ/​courtyard which leads to quaint French doors to assigned room. The exposed brick, the period furnishing, the crispness of the white walls/​linens balanced by the bursts of color from artwork (s) hung on wall is visually pleasing. The customer service and free wifi throughout the facility compliments the décor. The free goodies in the kitchen is a plus. Breakfast is pastries, bagels, cereal, select fruit, OJ and some damn good coffee. Occasionally, there may be hot breakfast (usually upon request). I stayed in Room 35. The only negative I have is that WiFi is spotty in that room; however, If I was desperate for some WiFi, the front parlor served my needs and they have a computer with a large monitor for your use.

After hearing about LGH, my family and I changed our hotel to stay here and we’re glad we did. The place is stunning! We stayed in the attic room (Room 40) and despite the flight of stairs and the slow to warm water, it was a perfect stay. The staff is friendly, warm and helpful. The charm of the hotel cannot be beat. And the views from the attic!!! Best in the Quarter! And the beds… they’re amazing!
Our only real complaint (and it wasn’t the hotel’s fault) was the noise on Friday and Saturday that came from Lafitte’s Blacksmith Bar across the street. If you don’t like noise and are staying on the weekend, make sure you pick a room that doesn’t have windows facing the bar. Other than that, the hotel is extremely quiet. Most days we never heard or saw another guest.
TGH is perfect for families that want to be close to the action on Bourbon, but not in the middle of it. It’s also a perfect romantic getaway. Highly recommend it to anyone!

I LOVE Lafitte’s!!!
PROS:
–On Bourbon just far enough from the craziness so you can sleep in silence, but just close enough that you only have to walk 5 or so minutes to get to all of the best areas in the French Quarter
–Beautiful rooms with incredibly comfortable beds, cable television, great room upkeep (cleaned daily)
–Communal kitchen with an oven, microwave, full sized fridge that are welcome for all to use; also included are snacks left out on the counter all day & night for guests to enjoy for free & a simple but tasty breakfast made by housekeeping each morning
–Great employees… the concierge was always SO kind & extremely helpful!
–Beautiful garden/​courtyard, multiple balconies, and gorgeous lobby room in front of house (with television & radio for guests to use) that anyone can enjoy at any time
CONS:
–Bathrooms are quite small & my room only had a stand-​up shower, no tub (though that’s to be expected in the Quarter… everything is old & most bathrooms are tiny)
–I had a bedroom off of a balcony (room 25) & the wifi on my floor didn’t extend to my room so I had to go out to the garden or lobby area to use internet. Not a huge issue for me, but would be if you were planning on getting any work done during your stay.
–No phones in each room; not a big deal but just kind of weird.
I would without a doubt visit Lafitte Guest House again & again & again. I love it there! It’s like a home away from home! And with the Groupon I got, the price cannot be beat for such an incredible value! Give them a shot!

My wife and I stayed here last summer. I had meant to write a review but I got busy and did not accomplish that. Now I just booked a room for this summer so here is why we are return guests for three nights. We had a wonderful two night stay last July. The people who work here were welcoming and friendly and very informative. I loved that I can park in the little parking area and then just walk around the French Quarter. Our room was gorgeous and the bed was amazing comfortable. This is a very romantic atmosphere if you know what I mean and I’m sure you do. We loved having breakfast on the balcony overlooking Bourbon Street early in the morning when the French Quarter was totally quiet and no one was up yet. Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop Bar is right across the street and that is my fav place to just hang out in the French Quarter with the locals and have a drink (some drinks) and listen to jazz on the piano. Lafitte’s is down at the quiet end of Bourbon Street so it does not get too loud or rowdy down there. So, anyway, this is why we are returning guests. Can’t wait! Note: Last summer, renovations were ongoing with scaffolds and workers starting at like 8:00 am but they were doing a great job so small price to pay for a more beautiful place.

Had a delightful time here for a fraction of the price of the nearby Hampton Inn. Rooms are clean and comfortable, although yes, you have to be a bit of a contortionist to use the toilet in the extremely small old-​timey bathrooms. I loved the communal kitchen – it was well stocked with snacks and the morning coffee and toast were delightful either on the balcony or back in the room. As other have said, yes, you’re on Bourbon Street, but the quiet end, far from the vomiting masses. There’s a classic bar, 24 hour diner steps away, and you’re close to all the major attractions. A really great stay.

Gracious hosts and staff and a lovely property. Exceedingly clean and well taken care of. The art is worth the trip. Location is wonderful. We were in room 21 which has a balcony overlooking Bourbon street. Perfect for breakfast, a late afternoon drink and people watching. Just far enough from the action of Bourbon street. Be sure and get there early enough to get parking in the small lot. Once you park you won’t need to access your car again if you want to stay in the French Quarter as the neighborhood is very walkable. By the way we encountered no ghosts.

The staff is as friendly and helpful as it gets. Loved the location. Had the 4^th floor room and the view over the City was amazing. Will definitely stay here again.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in April and loved it. We got a great deal, we walked everywhere we wanted to go. I prefer to stay with friends or family when traveling, I generally don’t like hotels but this felt very homey, and also private.

I dont know what all those old picture are but this boutique hotel is stunning.
Perfectly located on Bourbon, but at the end of the all the craziness, Still a tad loud but nothing that bothers you, only makes you want to enjoy the French Quarter more.
The rooms are beautiful and filled with Character AND CLEAN .

The 2^nd flood communal kitchen is perfect for having a place to leave left overs or cook a complete meal in the brand new full kitchen, oven, microwave, pots/​pans, dishes and more.

LOCATION
Situated at the far end of Bourbon (next to the blacksmith bar), the location is perfect. Easily walkable to «the action» on Bourbon Street, far enough away you can ESCAPE the action on Bourbon and get a good night’s sleep.
ROOMS
Our rooms were «courtyard rooms.» The rate was cheaper than the mansion rooms, but the quality of these rooms was also a step down from the rooms in the house. I was blown away by the mansion rooms (GORGEOUS!) that had been remodeled. Our rooms were fine. Beds were delightfully cozy place to retreat at the end of the night. There were, however, a few cosmetic things that needed attention. A chunk of drywall missing in bathroom, broken moulding, paint drips, mildew on shower grout. Nothing horrendous… just not as nice or well-​kept as the mansion rooms. My understanding is that the new owners plan to remodel all the guest rooms – and I have no doubt these rooms will be up to par once they get a makeover. Toilets are CRAZY close to the wall, so be prepared for some finagling if you have to sit down. Seems like an unavoidable «old timey» quirk no matter which room (s) you are in.
WIFI
Free wi-​fi on each floor. Such a nice touch!
BREAKFAST
Free breakfast in the shared kitchen was a delight. Gave the hotel a European feel, and inspired guest interaction each morning. Be sure to enjoy your breakfast on the kitchen balcony overlooking Bourbon Street.
*Note: Another nice feature of LGH … snacks and beverages are available in the kitchen around-​the-​clock at no extra charge.
PARKING
Off-​street parking is available for $ 20 per day in the hotel drive. You may get blocked in by other guests, which involves a little car shuffling (LGH employees take care of it) to get out, but it was really great to have our car at our disposal throughout the vacation.
PRICE
Hard to beat the price. It’s a bit of a hidden gem. Staff is wonderful, location is great. Would definitely recommend to friends.
Room Tip: Until the courtyard rooms are updated, I would highly recommend paying for one of the remodeled mansion rooms.

Really, my stay here can be summed up in 5 words: Slightly run down and overpriced.
Hopefully the new owners will bring the place back to life. Until then, it’s not recommended.

I use to stay at Lafitte’s (prior to Katrina) and it was great. Breakfast served to your room each morning, friendly staff and the place was always well maintained.
Now, forget it. Breakfast which consists of coffee and stale biscuits are serve yourself in the kitchen and while the housekeeping staff are funny, and friendly the desk staff won’t even look up at you. The new management is letting everything fall apart. Missing lightbulbs in almost every light in my room, the balcony was crumbling away, paint peeling everywhere and mold on the curtains. Seriously, if you don’t want to run a boutique hotel don’t buy one. I will never go back. By the way it’s currently for sale at a mere $ 2.5 million trouble is it will need at least that much just to make the repairs!
Go elsewhere it’s not worth the money.

A group of us booked 5 rooms back in October for President’s Day weekend and got our confirmations, so we went ahead and booked our air travel. THREE MONTHS later, we get an emails completely out of the blue saying that our requested rooms were not available and that they were completely full. No explanation and no apology for letting us know that we had no hotel rooms mere weeks before a sold out holiday weekend. The kicker is that one of us was confirmed for a certain room, but they told someone else in our group that they also had the exact same room (they are not a couple.) We all had booked separately, so they managed to completely screw up 5 different room reservations.
This place used to be great, but with the management change, they can’t seem to find their own asses with both hands and a flashlight for the simple and crucial aspect of reservation management, which for a hotel is an epic fail.
If you decide to book here, BEWARE and be sure to have back up plans.

My wife and I stayed here from 12/24/10−½/11. We found the place to be charming and the staff pleasant and helpful. The location is great; close enough to all the Bourbon Street action to walk and far enough away to escape when you’ve had enough revelry.
We stayed in room 21, which has a balcony overlooking Bourbon Street. Plenty of room and a decent view, but not a balcony you would throw beads from if this is what you’re looking for.
After a quick search, I discovered that the previous owners sold after Katrina (2006.) While I enjoyed my time here, the current owners appear to have scooped this place up and have been simply sitting on it for the last four years. It is definitely run down and in need of restoration and repairs.
If the dwelling was better maintained, I would have given it 4 stars. They loose one for it’s proximity to the Lafitte Blacksmith Shop Bar (very noisy until 2:00am or so) and two more for lack of attention to repairs and upkeep.
