Knights of Chaos Parade

Sandwiched between Knights of Babylon and the Krewe of Muses, I found this parade to be great. They have a theme of a mild parody going on with the theme of chaos. It was random, it was crazy. I loved the floats in this parade. From Donald Trump and his hair to «bike lives matter» (bike themed) to the White House being Bill Clinton’s pimping pad, the subtle and sometimes blatant humor was awesome. Of course the bands were great, the marching and dancing troupes were lively.
This was my first year of coming to this parade and I am glad that I did. It made me happy, even though the crowds can be thick with the build up to Muses which is the parade that follows. Just as a reminder: please be nice to others. I know that seems to be a theme of mine, but a little kindness can go a long way.

Chaos is just that… chaos. Sometimes they throw well and move quickly as a solid leadup to Muses. And sometimes they are cheap and take for-​ev-​er. One can never tell with Chaos, but I guess that makes sense.

Just a bunch of drunk dudes that could barely stand up, much less throw beads. The only thing I got from the parade was the view of their ass-​cracks as they would bend over to get even more Budweiser. DISGUSTING and very stingy with the throws. Overall the floats were good satire but the people in them were just a bunch of pigs. The two parades around it (Muses and Babylon) were fantastic though. This one was just a let down.

I enjoyed chaos because they actually threw to crowds. Yes they were drunk but they were throwing beads and souvenirs left and right. I will definitely say this. Babies are a must. The riders were looking for the babies and kiddies, so definitely have a baby. Just grab a kid and say «let’s get some stuff»!. You’ll thank me in the long run. I’m telling yah! I just really loved the atmosphere about the parade. Everything turned out well. I enjoyed it!

Chaos is a fun parade with lots of local satire. The floats are fun but often zip by to quickly to allow you to fully read/​digest the joke. So look out for card decks to explain all the floats. My mom was gleeful to get a pack last night.
I do feel bad for Chaos sometimes. While it’s satirical, it’s considered second to Krewe D’Etat. It’s sandwiched between the traditional Babylon and the mad-​popular Muses and so I think they get short changed.
It’s a good parade with good bands and, last night, in my area, they were generous with throws.

Knights of Chaos parade. Ugh. Jerks of Chaos maybe. Douchebags on some tractor-​pulled floats perhaps. This parade is situated between two cool krewes, Babylon and Muses, and I feel like they are out to make both of them look better. I do like the floats of Chaos, they are usually pretty sarcastic and funny, but the riders are a bunch of rude dudes. I just imagine they are a bunch of crusty old white men or frat boys looking for pretty young things to drool over. Gross. Throw beads to kids who want them, not to the hot girl who is just trying to let her nephew enjoy the parade. This is the worst parade of the season, and on one of the best days. Do yourself a favor and watch Babylon then go get some dinner and more booze while this one is rolling so you’ll be prepared for Muses.

Got some cool stuff including a colored cup with silver writing. Nothing to write home about though, but worth it to get there early and reserve a spot for Muses.

For us this parade was better than Babylon simply because our «catch» was better. The floats seemed to go awful fast again, the bands were great, and we were still able to give up some sacrifices to the bead tree a win win win parade.

History: The highly secretive Knights of Chaos, formed by former members of the Knights of Momus, first paraded on the traditional Uptown route in 2000 and does not unveil its theme until the procession takes to the streets.
Did you know: Secrecy and satire are the hallmarks of Chaos, which first paraded in 2000.
This year’s floats will be interspersed with several bands and marching groups. Of the 220 members of Chaos, about 20 of the lieutenants, along with the captain, will parade regally on horseback. The identity of the king of Chaos is never revealed.
Baseball-​type collectible cards, depicting each float and with a description of that particular title, will be thrown by Chaos members. This tradition began in 2006 and was the first of its kind in the history of Carnival throws.
Plentiful beads and trinkets are also promised, including Chaos Orange Demon lighted beads, plus plush Chaos knights, float-​specific cups and more. Also expected to be thrown to spectators will be doubloons and many trinkets signifying the generosity of the riders.

Krewe of Chaos, you suck.
Seriously. You are the meat in the sandwich of two awesome parades… Babylon and Muses, and you can’t manage to throw anything good? Come on! In Babylon, I was so weighed down with throws, I had to drop them off in my car before the next parade. Out of all of your floats, I got 5 pairs of beads. FIVE! Talk about lame.
Members of your crew seemed more intent with drinking than with throwing and when the float would stop, they would just stand there drinking their Bud Light and not throwing anything. What gives?
PLEASE fix this before next year! Uptown people want throws and you are the opening act for MUSES! Act like it!

The Knights of Chaos present what is by far my favorite Parade of the Carnival Season. The sort of wit and old school Momus style mockery and satire they use make for the prefect parade theming.
