History
Established in 2007.
Inner Recess was conceptualized and initiated many years prior to moving to its current location. Its founder, Aaron Thornton, worked in New York City for major and indie labels, studios and tech companies before embarking on his independent music production venture.
A relocation from Brooklyn to New Orleans in 2002 inspired refreshing developments to his musical approach. As time progressed, he found that his ever expanding collection of recording equipment and instruments had outgrown the bedroom it lived in. After an exhaustive search, Aaron stumbled upon the perfect studio space (the former Pelican Recording Studio location) and wasted no time moving in.
Through a partnership was formed with the prolific and innovative producer Prospek (Guerilla Publishing Company), the IR family expanded and flourished among new acquaintances.
Since its inception, Inner Recess has worked with many of New Orleans’ talented artists and musicians.
