Inn on St. Peter

Two Blocks from Bourbon Street. Staff is absolutely awesome. If you go talk with Billy the Maintenance guy. Will tell you a few places that are a little more Quarter and pocket friendly. We stayed in a room with Access off of Burgundy which has a bar across the street so it was a little loud but we knew that going in.
The parking is about 5 blocks away but is secure. You have to pay for it but if you are going to the French Quarter this should not be a surprise. Talk to the staff before you go! They all seem to want you to have fun and enjoy yourself so they will steer you in the right direction. This was a family trip in the off season but even then Bourbon street is still at least PG-​13 so if you take your kids make sure you are aware of the goings on. We had no problems at all. Will go back and stay at one of the Inn’s.

3.5 stars rounding up because… location, location, location! Nothing beats being close to all of the action yet far enough when needed to be. Just 2 blocks away is Bourbon St., plus the ever famous Pat O’Brien’s as well as Preservation Hall are both on St. Peter (same as the hotel). We had two nights where our last stop was at either of those places and I tell you, walking home to your hotel in less than 10 minutes after a long night with booze is something you would very much appreciate at the moment.
The boutique itself is small, housed in a historical building beaming with that distinct French Quarter flare. By that, I mean 2 stories with a balcony on the 2^nd floor overlooking the street. The inn has a courtyard inside with the rooms surrounding it. Our room was on the 1^st floor which I didn’t mind but let me warn you, it can get noisy in the morning since just across our room is the courtyard door that leads out to the street. We could hear the housekeeping lady talking loudly to other staff or guests arriving/​leaving. If you’re not a morning person, request for the 2^nd floor.
The accommodation itself feels a little cramped which is weird because the bathroom is very spacious. We had a full size bed which was comfy enough and I knew this wasn’t a place I would be expecting to have a memory foam mattress. Pillows could be newer and fluffier if I must say.
Offering daily housekeeping, I expected the room and bathroom to be cleaned as if each day we were a new guest checking in. That wasn’t the case. Our bed was well-​made but the room and bath was sloppily cleaned without refilling the Keurig machine supplies and toiletries. There was one night when we got to our room with no towels which the front desk apologized for and said their housecleaning lady called in sick that day. Not sure why they don’t have spare towels — and did that mean she was also in charge of washing the towels daily? Another thing that bugged me was the smell of the room. It smells of old furniture and mosquito spray. Being in a swampy area, I guess I’ll prefer that over mosquito bites.
Nevertheless, staying here was really experiencing the French Quarter and for that authenticity, I don’t regret booking this place. Heck, I would even still recommend it.

This was the perfect spot to stay in the French Quarter. It’s not directly on Bourbon Street but it was only two blocks away that I could still sleep and not hear the caos till 4am. We came back about 1−2am so our street was peaceful.
The building itself was beautiful as well as inside. I love the brick walls and high ceilings. I was a little disappointed that we were not on the second floor as they had the small deck to do people watching.
We stayed here three nights and they cleaned our room after the second day. They had only four towel sets when this room was supposed to be for six. Two queen beds and one sofa couch for two. The sofa bed was not comfy as its too soft and kinda of uneven. The queen beds were high but ok. The sheets were clean but not really soft. They did provide 4 pillows to use on each bed. The bathroom was in good condition but the showerhead was not spitting out a lot of water but good enough. We also could not get cold enough water when we showered! Never experienced that!
The first day we were there, they had sewage issues for two days that we were recommended to not drink the water but we could shower. We bought bottled water for the next two days. The AC worked great in both rooms that I was freezing but the boys liked it cold since it was hot and humid outside. They did have a small frig and Kurig coffee machine provided.
The staff was nice and you have to ring the doorbell in order to go in; nothing stolen and no bed bugs! The wifi worked best in the room then the living room area. We were barely here so this place was decently priced for our stay and for what if offered. If we were to come back, I would still stay here again as it was in the best location to everything…

If you want «quaint» in the French Quarter, this is a good place to stay. It took us awhile to come around to this thinking, though. When we booked a «guest house,» we pictured a cute house with rooms around a living room lobby or perhaps up a grand staircase. What we got, instead, was a «motel style» arrangement, with a tiny front office and then rooms arranged along a slanting walkway balcony, up a flight of exterior metal stairs, overlooking the street.
Having reset expectations, we found the Inn to be quite nice. The building is both historic and charming — and well maintained. Location couldn’t be better, in heart of the French Quarter, (but not noisy), and the rooms appear to have been recently remodeled. They were impeccably clean, with plenty of storage, comfy linens, a good bath with great water pressure and nice bath amenities. The TV was new and we appreciated the in-​room coffee service.
This is, however, not a luxury property. It’s a quaint small room facing the street. Staff was friendly, but kept forgetting to replace our coffee and shampoo.
The Inn on St Peter, as well as their 3 partner properties, advertise heavily to the gay community. We were a bit surprised, as a result, to note that the staff did not appear to be gay, nor did some of the other guests. That doesn’t mean anything, of course, other than that it would have been nice if staff were a little more knowledgeable in making recommendations to gay guests.

Great Hotel! Best location and worth every penny. The staff is very friendly and accommodates your every need. Less than a half of mile from
Bourbon street. I stayed in the upstairs room with the balcony very cute and worth the price. Only small downfall the upstairs room got really hot and is hard to cool off especially during my stay this summer. I would definitely recommend it.

Stayed in room 17 for 2 nights this past week. We booked 3 nights– ended up only staying 2 because the room was so hot. Being July you would hope your room would be cold in New Orleans. Our room would never cool down below 80,
We told the staff and they put a note under our door that evening that they were going to work on the ac the following day. We stayed 2 nights and didn’t want to stay another day in the heat.

REVIEW OF ROOM 14: GORGEOUS, character-​filled boutique hotel in the Quarter right on St. Peter and Burgundy near Rampart. I LOVED staying here. Steps away from Bourbon Street, but far enough away that you can get a good night’s sleep.
The rooms are beautiful with hard wood and exposed brick. Our room was slightly humid, and the AC operates just at comfortable. If you like it freezing cold, you won’t get that in Room 14.
Gorgeous balcony and quaint courtyard. Everyone who came to our hotel thought it was so cool.
No refrigerator, no chair, not much space for anything (although it did have plenty of drawers and a small armoire), so pack light.

This is such a nice place and I plan on staying here again during my future visits. Upon check-​in, LaKeese (I’m sorry if I misspelled your name) was EXTREMELY helpful in providing restaurants I should try as well as directions in getting to them. The rooms were very clean, immaculate, and inviting. I absolutely loved the hard-​wood floors and of course, the convenience of Bourbon St., the French Quarter, and the French Market. We were able to walk EVERYWHERE we wanted to go. Although my stay here was great, there are some things that could use improvement.
There were some VERY LOUD guests sitting outside of my room window conversing while I was trying to sleep. (This was after 1am and then after 4am. The front desk clerk was notified and these guests were asked to quiet down twice but they did not.) At the time I checked out, I advised the front desk clerk of this, Ms. Carol, and my bill was reduced CONSIDERABLY. I was very pleased but also feel that if guests are disturbing others — ESPECIALLY after being advised that they are and continue to do so, they need to LEAVE.
While this is a wonderful place to stay, please be advised that the suites do not have microwaves but there is a mini refrigerator available. There are also no vending machines so make sure that you get snacks while you’re out BEFORE you return to your room. The property also provides WiFi and I had no problems getting a signal.

Bad first impression from the younger girl, she was rude and unpleasant, the light skinned woman was a joy and extremely friendly which I assume is to make up for the others attitude. Rooms were clean and pretty though no fridge or microwave. Highlights were staying in the French quarter, and close to all the fun shops

While they don’t have a refrigerator or microwave they have a very nice, comfy room. Very clean and very nice staff. We were in room 7 (where musician Johnny Thunder died) which is also a ground floor. There is some noise but earplugs were provided! The location was perfect. 2 blocks away from Bourbon and within walking distance to a lot of yummy restaurants. It’s really been very nice. We will definitely book again.
Oh and there is no parking but there are tons of lots nearby. We went to one for 50 bucks for 2 days only a few blocks a way.

Pros:
Room was cute, very clean, and the bed was really comfortable. Hotel staff was helpful and friendly. Aveda toiletries! I would give this aspect of our stay 5 stars. Also, location was fairly convenient.
Cons:
We forgot our toothbrush, and they didn’t have one, so we had to walk the 3 blocks to Rouse’s, which wasn’t awful, but it was inconvenient. Also, no vending machine, so when you want a soda in the middle of the night, you have to take another walk.
The fact that there isn’t an elevator isn’t bad when you’re going to and from your room, but if you tend to overpack like I do, it can be a little interesting getting settled in and checking out, especially given that the steps are a hair steep.
If you look in your nightstand, there are ear plugs. You’ll likely need them. There was a drunk girl on the balcony screaming both nights we were there… My poor sleeping husband thought it was me one night and almost rushed out to save her!
All in all, it wasn’t a bad experience, and we were certainly happy with the room. I don’t think this would be a good place to stay with kids, and you should probably stock up on snacks if you think there’s a remote chance you’d need them. I’m not sure we would stay there again, but we enjoyed our time there!

I have stayed at the Inn on St. Peter twice now, and will DEFINITELY go back again and again! The 2 bedroom carriage house is perfect for our group of 6 ladies that frequent NOLA, with a king bed in one room and two queen beds in the other. I’ve also stayed in a standard king room, #13 which was kinda small, but was very pleasant. You’ll want to know, there are no elevators and the stairs are a bit steep for those that stay on the 2^nd floor. I have nothing but GREAT things to say about the staff. Carol, Dwayne, and Dawn are just a few of the names I can remember, but they are all super friendly and helpful. Everyone treated us as if we were family. If there was something we needed, all we had to do was ask. Simply wonderful. The hotel is a few blocks away from Bourbon, which is nice. The beds are very cozy and rooms kept very clean. They have a great wrap around balcony, which we spent a lot of time on when we just wanted to chill. The area is nice and quiet. There is also a small grocery store just a block away and a small quaint and quiet little bar accross the street, that is open until the wee hours of the morning and serves great food until about 11pm. Can’t wait to go back! I DEFINITELY know what it means to miss New Orleans!!!

Pro. Location, staff, well furnished rooms. Good security. Pretty court yard. Big bathroom
Con. Noise from the court yard comes thru (room on 1^st floor right on court yard) so early risers wake up night owls and vice versa. Also turn the TV on fairly loud if you want to have sex, not even loud sex, without anyone hearing you. Also, the WiFi was awful. Weak signal, actually cut out half the time. I basically had to sit in one corner of the room to get a consistent signal. I really hope they fix that. It was very frustrating and really kind of important to have as none of the cafes etc on the French quarter seem to have WiFi.
Also. If I had been traveling as a single woman I would have felt safe in this neighborhood while sober to lightly buzzed.

Really liked this hotel. Location was great. Not in the hectic area, but close enough where it wasn’t a long walk.
We had a good sized room with two double beds. The bathroom also had two sinks, which was awesome.
The people that work there are so friendly and helpful. Johnny was working when we checked in and he called us when our room was available. The day we left, another lady called a cab for us.
The room was a little cold because you go in through an alleyway and there is no direct sunlight into the room.
The only thing I didn’t like were the tiny little pillows they give you. You get 4 to a bed, but they are so small.

This was my first post-​Katrina trip to New Orleans. In my 20s, I had drunk my fair share of hurricanes, which means that many of the memories made on Bourbon Street and the French Quarter were pretty much a BLUR!!! (Uhmm…I didn’t know that the Mississippi River was just beyond Jackson Square… J/K…but really, never saw it at all in past visits… really).
As far as French Quarter hotels go, this one was decent for the price. They were doing some construction while we were there. We were in a room downstairs facing the street. There were no pretty courtyards like some of the other French Quarter Hotels that I had secured in the past. The first night when my 4 friends and I checked in, the receptionist wasn’t exactly the friendliest (but had probably been dealing with all sorts of drunken people or had a bad day).
The room was a suite with 2 double beds, a full sized sleeper sofa, a dining area and a mini refrigerator. The hotel is on the edges of the French Quarter, but only 2 blocks away from Bourbon Street and the Cat’s Meow (if you like to watch or participate in a little drunken karaōke).
All in all, this hotel was A-​OK. Not sure about parking b/​c we took a cab from the airport and a shuttle service back to the airport for our return flight.

I have visited New Orleans many times and have stayed usually in the hotel chains. I joined some friends for Halloween this year and was glad I took the impulsive trip. I traveled to attend all the Halloween festivities. Let’s start with location — I enjoyed that it was in the french quarter and 2 blocks from Bourbon St. I loved the look of the hotel — it embodied the historic Spanish design and had the gas lamps and balcony. There are a few courtyards to hang out that makes it feel private. The staff were friendly and helpful if you requested or needed help with pointing out local spots. My friends booked the 2-​Bedroom Suite. One room had 2 queen beds and one queen bed. Each room had a flat screen television. The suite area offered a dining room table with a living room coffee table and flat screen television. The living room sofa was also a fold-​out bed. Also in each room is a Keurig machine that the coffee drinkers loved. The bathroom was a decent size. The beds were comfortable and I enjoyed the ability to control the temperature a ceiling fan and air conditioner in the living room and in each bedroom.
Ok — back to the location. It is close to the Louis Armstrong Park — they have lots of community activities happening there for FREE — so it’s worth a walk to check out. You can get to the Treme neighborhood with a 15 Minute walk and if for nothing alone — visit Willie Mae’s Scotch House — On Many «Best Fried Chicken» lists and featured on the Food Network a lot. It’s worth the walk and waiting in line. Check out my review of them too. Close to St. Louis Cathedral and Jackson Square. Across the street is a cool «gay bar» — 700 Club. A few stops were made there before and after activities — the bartenders are cool and they seem to attract locals — so it was a nice chill spot — especially on Halloween Night. The best part of this location — is you can walk anywhere in about 10 – 15 minutes. You are close to the craziness — but won’t get annoyed because you are far enough away.
If there is a negative — we were located in a 2^nd floor suite — the ice machine is downstairs. Guess what — when you go out and come back in — remember — Get Ice — just a small adjustment.
If you want a great french quarter hotel — I would stay in this hotel again.

Lots of great things about this hotel– location, balcony, spacious suite rooms, price and character. It’s quiet and the beds are comfy too.
The not so greats – we haven’t been impressed by the housekeeping staff. Had to go down and get more TP after they had made up the room and it was obvious they didn’t clean the bathroom either, just emptied the trash and changed the towels. Somewhere in there our bath mat disappeared too. My roommate found a cockroach in her room today, but we disposed of it without too much drama. Yes, we are in the south and we’ve spotted several in the neighborhood so I can’t say I’m that surprised. And we left the window onto the porch open a good deal of the time, which could be how it got inside.
If you like character and charm you’ll love this place. If you want luxury, this probably isn’t the place for you.

I almost never give 5 stars, but this «hotel» was pretty great. I recently came back from an all-​girls trip. I found this place on Unilocal and decided to book considering the location and price.
The room we stayed in (#30 I believe) was a weird (in a good way) combination of a hotel and an apartment. You enter through a door which opens out onto the sidewalk but behind this door are stairs (that lead to other rooms) and another door to your left (our room!).
Anyone would think: «First floor, facing the street, pretty close to a bar, no way!» We were nervous at first, but it was very quiet and aside from that bar (which was oddly quiet with no hanging out outside) the location is far enough from the madness yet close enough for you to walk to Bourbon street and the Café du Monde :).
When we entered our suite we were pleasantly surprised. Our suite had a living room, dining area, mini fridge, clean and decent sized bathroom and a separate room with 2 queen beds and exposed brick walls. Plenty of room for 4 girlfriends! Our stay was 3 nights and a room attendant cleaned the apartment every day. The lady at the reception desk was friendly and super helpful. she suggested places to see and eat. We visited half of them. Thumbs up all around!

Enjoyed my stay here. I was in NOLA for 6 days so it felt like my home away from home. It was like staying in an apartment rather than a hotel. When we first got there, was a bit confused as where to enter but then one of the service ladies helped us out. LOVED our room– we had the deluxe so we had a king bed with a little living room and small dining area. Lots of space. Gave my mom and I enough space for when we needed alone time! 2 TV’s for our afternoon breaks. Loved the décor, you could tell all furnishings were top quality. Bed and pillows were comfy. Bathroom was a little tight but it was all good. The bath tub was slippery so I had to ask for a mat especially for my mother who’s in her 60’s. Also, they didn’t seem to have enough trash cans so we asked for another one. Had 2 air conditioners so was never hot. Always happy with a Keurig which they did not skimp on! Also, always got a good night sleep. This was only 2 blocks from Bourbon and slept good! This was at the edge of the French Quarter across from Louis Armstrong Park and close to St. Louis Cemetery and Treme. You can get anywhere in the French Quarter in a matter of 10 – 15 minutes.
Overall, room service was good. Staff was always helpful when we needed something. The building is a historic landmark. OMG, the balcony was amazing! Loved the gas lamps surrounding the building and along the walkway. Loved loved the architecture and was glad to stay here in true New Orleanian style!

The Inn on St. Peter isn’t a traditional hotel in the slightest, but it is the perfect place for a New Orleans getaway. It’s located 2 blocks West of Bourbon St., so you don’t hear any of the craziness. The room we stayed in was basically like a 1 bedroom apartment, complete with a full living room, giant bathroom, and spacious bedroom with 2 comfortable beds.
The layout of the Inn was a bit odd, with the ice machine underneath the stairs in the courtyard, but the staff was friendly and able to help with any issues you might have. Make sure you don’t forget your keys, because everything requires it, including accessing the courtyard. I would strongly recommend this place for your stay, but keep in mind that all the rooms are different.
