We stopped i here today and the folks running the store were so nice i had to give them some good stars. Real great selection of items, delicious soaps, a little pricey but what I would expect for french quarter. We were greeted by the woman who does readings and she was very welcoming and it didnt feel like some of the other shops that dont say anyting to you or try to talk to much (not pushy at all) if i lived closer I would probably go there all the time

I live in nola part time but just found hex. I gave them no info about myself and just asked for a general reading. Had a 15 min reading which was scarily accurate. Carie did the reading and was very easy to chat with afterward about what the reading might mean with respect to my life. Bought a couple of voodoo dolls specific to my needs… so we’ll see! My only complaint is that the size of the place makes the readings less private than they could be.

Just got home from spending 6 days & 5 nights in the beautiful French Quarter; during which our two visits to Hex were an alluring highlight!
Everyone there was wonderfully knowledgable and helpful, yet equally nonintrusive. Charlie especially was a great sounding board and directed us around the area.
I only wish we went back again before we flew out, as were are already in need of more items.
Hex will be our very first stop when we head back around Easter! It’s only been a few days, but I wish I could just walk right down the block and be there again!

Had visited the other voodoo shops closer to bourbon street and the feeling wasn’t right for a reading. I happened across this place on Unilocal,and since I’m a fan of the New Orleans voodoo and witchcraft culture, decided just to check it out. It has way less of a touristy feel than the voodoo shops and felt very friends and welcoming. The man at the front desk was very friendly and helpful, so I decided on a 15 min tarot reading (my first one ever)
Anastasia did my reading and she was absolutely wonderful. Everything she said made sense, she made me feel comfortable, and was sure to make sure I understood and took care of any questions I may have had. Even for a 15 min reading it didn’t feel rushed and was very informative. Loved my first experience and would definitely be back to see Anastasia again!

Was referred to come here after a Bloody Mary tour and so glad I did!
The space is small but carries a lot of interesting items even if you don’t believe in the whole notion.
However I’m fairly fascinated with stones and the general idea and when I was staring at the stone section, the gentleman that ran the shop reached past me and chose 2 stones for me. When he told me what they were for, I was floored because he said he sensed in my aura that I needed those particular ones. I nearly teared up because I hadn’t told him and it *was* something that I have been carrying/troubled with in my mind.
My new friend that I had met on the tour also had a cleansing and emotional experience here.
If I’m ever in NOLA again, I would definitely stop by again.

Referred to this store. Can’t remember the name but the person we were referred to was a great listener and adept at understanding our needs. He’s very knowledgeable about witchery.
Their website states that Hex offers a cornucopia of magical wares and ritual tools, many of which are exclusive to our shops. It appears so.
Certainly an interesting store: candles, books, charms, art, dolls, essential oils, there is so much to explore.
They also offer readings.
Definitely a store worth visiting even if you’re merely curious.

Ok, based out of Salem Mass. it’s a split of tourist trap and somewhat authentic. A little too heavy on the incense. If I really didn’t want the specialized deck of tarot cards, like bad… I wouldn’t of bought them there. It felt like they are more worried about theft than the customers. A bit difficult to walk around in, too much stuff crammed into a small area. But if you know what you need you can pick up your herbs, and if you’re new to Pagan/witchcraft, they have a lot of great 101 books to read.

I’m always wary when I go into shops like this is places like NOLA. You never quite know whether you’re going to be treated with respect or disrespect or pandered to until you make the effort of getting yourself in there. I’m on vacation, so don’t waste my time, ya know?
My friend & I found the energy quite good, the staff helpful, but not hanging & the prices not at all out of line. We received some very good advice on specific books & other items, which was more than helpful. I purchased a housewarming gift for a Wiccan friend & she was literally jumping up & down w/excitement that I bought it there because she loves the shop so much. So, stamp of approval from her & her entire coven, apparently.

It’s a pretty tiny place, and hard to move around in. I liked that they had a lot of style options for the candles. The guy at the register answered all of my questions and he wasn’t condescending like some of the other shops I visited in the French quarter which is why I actually bought quite a few things.

Super-fun store whether you believe in this stuff or not. We spent quite a bit of time just looking around and reading all the vials and bottles. I had questions for a gift for a friend and they were able to not only discuss with me what I was looking for but point me in the right direction. It was a bit like being a kid in a candy store, hard not to pick up and touch everything. Being a tight space it was kind of nerve-wracking not hitting or bumping into stuff, but other than that I felt really calm in there. Lovely staff as well, they truly enjoy working there.

I really liked this place. As a solitary I was on a mission to find real magic shops in Nola. When I first passed this shop it was closed, but I was so drawn to it that I came back the next day. It’s not a tourist trap, which I loved. I found some goodies and chatted with the guy about tarot decks and astrology before making my purchase. It is small and jam packed with great products and it has that mystical magic shop smell. I will visit again the next time I’m in town.

My boyfriend and I recently took a trip to New Orleans and booked a couples reading with Sharon Graham at Hex while we were there. This was my first tarot reading experience. Going into the reading I was skeptical, but my boyfriend and I did not give her any prior information about ourselves except for our first names, so I can vouch that Sharon is the real deal! Our reading was amazingly accurate, and was a fabulous experience! The shop itself was also a wonderland for me, and will be for anyone else who is fascinated with magyk. Hex is the best — we already can’t wait to come back and visit Sharon again!

Out of all of the «voodoo» shops in the French Quarter, this one doesn’t really cater to the tourist crowd i.e. you’re not going to find voodoo dolls that are Made in China or other tourist souvenirs. To be fair, I don’t really dabble in voodoo, Wicca, witchcraft, so I can’t truly saw how authentic this stuff is. But I definitely enjoyed perusing the store.

I visited about 6 of these ‘kinds’ of shops in the French Quarter and they have the best collection of books, hands down. They also had a great selection of tarot WITH an electronic display of the decks… you don’t see that often!
They cramped ALOT into their space, so it can be hard to move around. Its clean, friendly and great selection… in fact, I found a few choice items I didn’t see anywhere else.
This may sound weird, but I really loved the paper HEX shopping bag I got with my purchase! I brought it home and use it for trinkets.

I was walking past this place when I stopped because it smelt divine. Outside. So I thought I would have a look-see inside.
At first I thought it was another voodoo shop, upon closer inspection however you find that’s it’s more a witchery shop than voodoo.
I found the most darling lil card in here that I bought.
I didn’t really interact much with the staff except to give them my monies for the card. He didn’t really give off the happy vibe. Plus, he followed me around a bit when I went into the next room without talking so I kinda felt a bit unwelcome — or that he thought I was going to loot the store when he wasn’t looking.
So I paid for the card and left pretty quickly without really having a good look at anything else.
