You can’t go down to the banks of the Mississippi and not go on a paddlesteamer in my opinion! The tour on the Creole Queen takes 2 and half hours and has running commentary throughout. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. You can buy hot food and drinks onboard and purchase tickets for this in advance if you wish. We stopped off at a park which was an old battlefield. We weren’t told about this, but it was a welcome break and chance to walk around and have a brief history talk from a park ranger. This company also does evening jazz cruises which could be quite fun too! Worth checking it out!

Visited New Orleans with the family and decided to try one of these boat tours. The onboard historian was amazing. He did a wonderful job explaining the history of New Orleans that was interactive and entertaining and with PASSION! With funny accents to unique impressions the creole queen tour on the Mississippi is worth it, making history come alive. Very family friendly! Even has food and drink!

I’ve been to New Orleans a few and decided to take in some history. This paddle boat tour of the Mississippi River and the site of the Battle of New Orleans was amazing!!! We took the afternoon trip and absolutely loved it! The tour guide was fantastic. Well worth the price of the trip! It left me wanting to learn more about the history of New Orleans.

Great history lesson while cruising the Mississippi. Our guide Charles Tidmore was fantastic. The fact that he is a direct descendent of a New Orleans founding family makes the information he shares even more interesting. Learned lots of fun facts about New Orleans culture and customs along with details of Battle of New Orleans. Wish we would have had more time at Battlefield. Great way to spend an afternoon!

October 2015 We had a lady historian to guide us down the Mississippi River — whom pointed out several different historical landmarks and factual tidbits. There was an open bar, and a lunch buffet — if you desired. We were dropped off at the Battle of Chalmette. I finished before my group, so I went back inside to have some lunch. I sat in the dining area, to observe the waitress, bartender, and another man socializing at a table. I perused the menu, took pictures of the menu, and made my decision while they continued to converse. I looked around the room to see if you just serve yourself, or if there was a sign showing where you paid for your meal. I did not see anything, therefore I continued to wait for the waitress to come and assist me. After waiting about 5 minutes, I spoke up and the bartender stated something to the effect that he thought I purchased the buffet in advance. To which, I replied that I hadn’t and he took my order at the bar. After completing our transaction, he promptly sat back down at the table and the waitress went to the serving trays to take my ticket from me and to tell me to get a Styrofoam plate and serve myself. She then went around the serving trays, and sat back down at the table. Seriously!?! I paid $ 7 for a plate of food that I served to myself, and there was no courteous manner from her either. She had such flat affect, that you wanted to rub some personality onto her.

My husband and I took the 7pm evening cruise. We did not have dinner but had drinks on the top deck. It was wonderful! A man played banjo on the top deck and they had a three piece jazz band on the first floor inside. The views of New Orleans and the Mississippi River were great! It’s a beautiful sunset and we would do it again!

Wow. Took this to battle of chalmette. What could’ve been stellar… was mediocre. Employees seem disgruntled. They also are misinformed. What we thought we were going to was also not what we expected. While I enjoyed the ride, I really didn’t appreciate lack of seating. Freezing outside. The entire thing was booked privately cept for a small room in back. Tables are nice but pointless. Upon arrival the bartender wasn’t very friendly. He was all about pushing us away to the back. We just didn’t know where we were supposed to go. Felt like he was mad. Various explanations of when to come back. Different times. One hour. 2 cannons shot. 8 muskets and then back to creole queen. Way back was better. Less people comin back translates to more on second trip. This is a wonderful opportunity that wasn’t planned well with cranky employees.

I called 3 weeks before our trip to make reservations and then called to change them 2 weeks before the trip. The lady in the ticket booth refused to use my Living Social deal that was on my phone because it wasn’t printed. She said I wouldn’t be allowed to use it for my kids because it was a deal for adults. I called twice about the reservations and neither employee said that was not possible. What a ripoff!
