Clue Carré

Excellent time at Clue Carre! We did the Mardi Gras room for my son’s 11^th birthday in 2015. Staff was great and made sure it was fun for us.
I like that they post the photo of you on FB after completing or failing a mission. A nice souvenir since you can’t take photos (so as not to spoil the surprise). Very creative! Want to come back and do the other rooms.

Had so much fun. Jasmine was our game master. She was awesome. We got out the room with 1 second less. So exciting. The last 5 minutes were so intense.

This place located in good area of town with ability to get some foot truffic.
They claim to be first in the town.
But be aware first is not always best.

I wouldn’t recommend this room to anyone with experience.
Not only there is no design there is also really bed game flow.
It looks more like treasure hunt then escape game.
What strike me the most that they wery proud of the fact that «We give clues not when client usk for it but when we decide to do so». I will translate it to English. We have really limited stuff and we have one game muster multitasking and watching 3 or 4 games at thr time and he doesn’t have time to give clues when you need them. So he chose the time to call for his/​her convenience.
I should say that we did have 4 or 5 game masters at the time of our visit. So there us game masters was available but again even despite the fact that they had game master assigned to us and despite the fact that game master have heard us struggling and asking for help. Help was not there.
This clue system model only sustainable if you have perfect game flow with very good in game clue system. Where you have clues for every step.
In this quest again it was more like treasure hunt and some keys was hidden in such places that you wouldn’t imagine why someone would put it there. And most importantly there was no clues indecating that that key could be there.

This is theyr newest quest.
This quest has elements of design. And game flow somewhat improved.
Some issues stayed the same. Some keys and codes in unbelievable places abd there is no indications or clues leading to it’s location. And you at mercy of game master when to get clue about it’s location.
So game flow looks like this.
You search the room. Find some clues. Open some locks. When you run out of the ideas you sit down and wait. 3…5…7…10 min. Then game master desides it’s time to advance. He gives you an idea that why wouldn’t you look in there… and you ask yourself and your neighbor: Why or how it would be hidden there and where was a clue to find it there.
This game had little bit better flow then Woodo

I will admit: we are escape game snobs at this point. Escape games are out of family’s out of town go-​to.
Overall, the atmosphere of our game, the room itself, the pace, and the puzzles and such we had to work out were good. No problems there. We did have two problems… one being the EXTREMELY drunk participant in the room with us spitting into a dip cup the entire game, the second being the confusing and contradictory directions given to us at the beginning. Didn’t ruin the game, but didn’t help.
Overall, with the locally themed rooms, overall game-​play, location, and pace — this establishment has a lot going for it. With a little effort to step up the professionalism, this place would get more stars. I realize that this genre of entertainment is young — but our problems are somewhat easily remedied with good management. Good luck!

This place was so fun that we actually returned the next day so we could escape another room! We made it out both times, and both set ups were really cool. The Haunted Swamp is a really unique one for New Orleans! I have gone to a few other room escape places along the east coast and this one might rank number one.

Staff workers are incredibly rude and unhelpful. They were not open to working with us concerning time or party options. They were also abrasive in tone and demeanor when we showed up to our game at the specified time. We were not given clues at the appropriate times, the rooms were dirty and unkept, puzzles in the games themselves were bizarre and lacked any reason, and the puzzles were disjointed, lacking sequence, and were not conducive to logic OR abstract type thinking. The games (having done multiple ones) were poorly thought out, planned, and orchestrated. Having done escape games in other cities, this one is by far the least impressive. Neither the games themselves nor the staff made us feel welcome; this greatly affected the atmosphere of the game itself. For example, lack of eye contact, unhelpfulness, and entirely rude attitudes. The largest disappointment in Clue Carre is the blatant lack of quality and professionalism. A business should exude respectfulness to its customers while its staff should be professional and willing to assist in any way. Perhaps the owner of Clue Carre employed young, inexperienced, unprofessional staff due to oversight and lack of awareness, or perhaps Clue Carre doesn’t care about the impression that it gives to its customers. Either way, this business will certainly close once competition comes to town.

Such an awesome concept and fun game for people of all ages. Staff is extremely friendly, and the game are definitely most challenging. Look forward to the other games.

We did the swamp room, super hard! We had a lot of fun doing it but it’s the hardest room. I wouldn’t recommend this room if it’s your first time or if you don’t have 8 people. Shawn was super helpful and nice. We made reservations and showed up a day early and also an hour early (what happens when you let the men make the reservations) but they were able to accommodate us. We would definitely do this again.

I need to start this review by stating that this was a surprise event planned for my bachelorette. I had no idea what I was getting into, or what I would be trying to get out of, I should say. I can’t say anything without giving too much away. Know that every one of us walked out being more than pleasantly surprised.
We had the Voodoo Room and our game keeper was the greatest. We left certain that this guy thought we were nuts, and also that he has the most fun job.
The idea is to put your brains together and find clues to escape.
It was a slow start for us, and with one more minute we would have been free. However, we didn’t and we all died there. We will spook you in the Voodoo room. So come on in.

It was a really great time! Somehow we escaped– but honestly I don’t know how! We did the haunted swamp and it really makes you think! I’m ready to truths next room!

The «Haunted Swamp Room» was my fifth completed escape room (from four different locations in three different states), and while there were aspects to be improved upon, I think that the combination of theming and puzzle for this one was truly top-​notch!
When looking up escape room options in New Orleans, Clue Carre stood out amongst Unilocal and Trip Advisor reviewers, and it is no wonder why! With five different room experience options, there is a good variety of theming to fit all taste.
The issue with most escape room experiences is the tendency to be frightening (e.g. Serial killer theme, zombie theme, embalming room theme… bleh!), but Clue Carre has some family friendly options.
In an effort to avoid giving anything away, I will summarize and present critiques in the vaguest possible fashion!
THEMING
I thought the Swamp Cabin theming was wonderful– good set decoration and use of sound! I’d like to have seen it taken just a step further:
*Lose the carpet and utilize resin and fake duckweed (you can find that stuff at hobby lobby or Michaels) to further the «swampy» atmosphere.
* Maybe paint the ceiling to look more like a tree canopy.
*Possible use of lighting affects could take it a step more eeire without making it frightening.
Lightning bugs were a nice touch!
PUZZLES
I applaud the creativity of the puzzles, and it was nice to not be overdistracted by unnecessary and/​or irrelevant props/​information. My one complaint is the same I have of many escape room experiences: over-​use of the «lock box»
There are a hundred ways to hide/​secure an object, and yet the lock box makes it’s prolific, bordering on cliché, appearance again and again in escape rooms.
QUALITY
I’ve left two escape rooms upset for having spent the money, but that was not the case with Clue Carre’s «Haunted Swamp Cabin» room– in a group of 7, I don’t think anybody felt that they didn’t get bang for their buck! The room was challenging (but not frustratingly so), interesting and a heckuva lotta fun!
SERVICE
While this may seem like a strange category for an escape room venue, the people who facilitate the games play a vital role in the overall experience. In our case, the gentleman who introduced the room and game was polite, concise (always a good thing when you’re ready to get started!) and seemed genuinely excited about the room! And we, in turn, were therefore more excited.
I think that the planning, design and effort that goes into these rooms are often overlooked, but in an effort to change that: BRAVO CC ROOM DESIGNERS!
I’ll definitely be back for another CC experience next New Years!

Pretty much awesome! I purchased tickets for grandparents parents and siblings as a Christmas present. Everyone enjoyed the challenge.
Depending on ages and personalities it could get a little intense however as the clock ticks down it will intense regardless.
In the beginning I thought it was cool. However by the end I was thoroughly impressed.
Also my mother ended up sick the night before and day of. The owner was very accommodating allowing me to reschedule her at a later date when I could take her another time.
We did do according to completion rate the third hardest room. We made it to the final clue however did not have time to sort through the final clue to make it out the door. We will be back to finish a room.
In all my family and I were very pleased.

Maybe it’s because my friends and I went to an escape room in Budapest that was an absolute blast, but this was kind of a waste of money. I read that we might have other people in our group but in the end we were combined with another group and the escape room was so small that my friends and I couldn’t even participate. It probably depends on who you are combined with but the other party with us grabbed the clues and we never even got a chance to read the papers or try to figure everything out. We tried to participate but we’re mostly standing watching other people as there was not enough room for all of us to look at the clues. We were really let down as in the end it was not too difficult to figure out but as we weren’t a part of figuring it out we couldn’t advance in the game. Apart from it being a drag having to solve the puzzles with strangers who really were aggressive and didn’t even let us help the actual puzzles were not very creative, it was all just finding numbers to open locks. If you are able to go with just your party and not be combined it would be more fun, but there are much better escape rooms out there.

My girlfriends and I were charged with finding the stake and driving it into the heart of the vampire… Yup we did not succeed! But we had an amazing time trying. The experience was well organized and extremely fun. Be on time because your time starts on time, which I think is awesome. Definitely a great team builder, staff development, or friend outing!

I would recommend this to locals as well as any group of tourists for a pretty unique time in the city. It doesn’t take too long (an hour) and is a blast with the right people. We escaped the Mardi Gras room but there are 5 rooms I believe. I’ll be going back sometime.

This is the first time I’ve ever gone through a challenge course and it was really fun. I’m glad my family went because I missed out on Escape Room Live in Alexandria.
There are two rooms there and we tried the Voodoo Room. The Clue Carre team doesn’t like folks to divulge any secrets, so I can’t really go into depth about what we encountered. There were numerous clues and locks to solve/​break within our 60 mins. I liked that the CC team provides you with hints when you’re unsure what to do with the clues you’ve uncovered. The rooms are wired for sound and video, that’s how the CC team knows you need help. My family and I escaped with a half second to spare and we couldn’t have been happier. I even bought a commemorative shirt!
Totally fun and the CC team are great people. Definitely worth it!

J’avais tellement d’attente sur cette room sur le thème du Voodoo que j’ai été très deçue.
En effet la première salle déjà né reprenait pas ce thème, juste une salle lambda mais le plus gros problème c’est qu’il y avait uniquement des cadenas à clés et à code à chiffre à résoudre, donc question variété c’était beaucoup trop faible.
Moi qui suis pourtant à fond quand je fais un Escape Game j’ai même un moment baissé les bras de déception.
A la sortie je n’avais même pas envie de tester la salle sur Mardi gras.
Je pense que les gens de Clue Carré devraient aller voir ce qui se fait ailleurs pour renouveler leurs énigmes et redonner de l’intérêt à leur salle.

Came here with a group of friends and had a great time! We were in the VOO DOO room and it was fun putting together all the clues! We escaped with nearly 5 minutes remaining, to which the staff said was way better than average! The other group going at the same time as us in the Mardi Gras room didn’t make it out in time! The staff informed us that they are adding 3 additional rooms in the near future! I’ll be back to try those out!
To a tourist thinking of doing this Go for it! You don’t need to know anything special about the city or anything like that! You will have a good time!

I was a lucky Unilocaler that got to experience Clue Carre with other elites a little while back. I enjoyed the experience so much that I suggested it as a team building activity to a group at work.
My colleagues and I work in different departments and different physical spaces, and I didn’t find out until after they made a reservation at Clue Carre that we were indeed gonna be doing it. As soon as I found out, I let my colleague who made the reservation know that I’ve already done the Voodoo room and technically can’t do it again. She had just made the reservation the previous day and she called as soon as she got my email to see if we could switch to the Mardi Gras Den. She was told that both rooms were now booked for our time slot. She emailed Megan, the owner, to see if Megan would ask the other group if they would mind switching. Megan, who seemed awesome when I met her, wrote back to my colleague saying that the other group made their reservation much earlier than us and that she can’t ask them to switch. However, my colleague told me that when she was making the reservation just one day ago, both rooms were available. I don’t know the truth because I’m not the one who made the reservation and there is no screenshot to prove either way, but I don’t know why my colleague would lie.
Anyway, we show up and I was hoping to ask the other group myself, because it’s different coming from the owner and coming from another customer. However, the other group had not yet arrived when we got there. I told the employee who greeted us about our situation and expressed that I would like to talk to the other group. I did not get a chance to speak to the other group. Instead, he sent another employee to talk to them. The other employee came back saying that the other group did not wish to switch. I didn’t know if he explained that the only reason we wanted to switch was that one of the participants had already done the Voodoo Room. It’s easy for the other group to have thought that the Mardi Gras Den was simply more appealing.
We tried REALLY hard to be in a situation where I don’t know where the clues are, and I felt that the ownership and staff did not care to help us.
And so into the Voodoo Room I went, reluctantly because I felt uneasy about being in the room and not being able to help. I tried to think of a way to be productive and it seemed to me that I could maybe help the group stay organized with clues they already uncovered. I was physically in the space and it was impossible to not engage.
Have you ever been in a situation where you knew what your friends should do but you couldn’t tell them? It’s really, really hard. And I admit that I said general things like, «guys, have you looked everywhere in the room?» and «make sure you do a clean sweep,» but nothing concrete. But the employee chastised me for giving clues to my group and he told us that he didn’t give more clues that could’ve helped the group escape the room, because I was helping them.
First of all, I tried many, many times to not be in the situation that I was in and I felt that Clue Carre did not care to help. Second, I did not give any concrete clues even when it was killing me because my group was stuck and I knew the answer. I said very broad things like, look around!
So, to have spent our money at the business and to be treated like I had done something very bad when I am the one who alerted the group about the place and brought the business there in the first place left a really bad taste in my mouth.
I wish I could be excited about the other rooms they’re opening, but I feel mistreated and do not wish to return.

Came here with my fam bam for my birthday and had the VOO DOO room! First judgment on this place, I was visually underwhelmed. However, quickly how I realized how fun this was!
The age recommended is 8+. My son is 9 and I was thinking about bringing him, but good thing I didn’t. I really don’t think this would be really fun for anyone until they’re atleast in high school.
If you’re looking for good, challenging fun other than drinking in New Orleans, Clue Carre is definitely recommended! There are several rooms you can choose from and they’re all different, so you can revisit to an all new experience every time!

Our group had a great time escaping the Voodoo room with 1:07 left on the clock! This was our first ‘escape room’ and needless to say we are looking forward to coming back to try their other room.
If you’re new to this; you’re locked in a room with clues hidden everywhere that help you unlock addition chests/​boxes that contain more clues. The objective is to eventually get to the last clue, which, when solved, will allow you to ‘escape’ to room you’re locked in. You have an hour to complete the course.
We were a group of 10, which I think caused more confusion than if we had a slightly smaller group. I would suggest ~6. The cost is rather steep considering how long you’re there, $ 31 per person.
Overall we had a great time and are looking forward to another visit!

Cardiologist appointment soon? Well it’s probably not needed after this! My heart was beating outside of my chest with the anticipation of WILL WE EVER GET OUT and the thought will cross your mind to use the panic key… not saying that I almost did… but ok maybe just a little. The music gets louder and speeds up while the time is glaring at you and then phew you make it out (if you’re luck)!!! Our group escaped the Mardi Gras room with seconds to spare!
Great place to come with a group, not so sure it would be too successful with only two of you… I would suggest any group for team building, office holiday party, girls/​guys night out, or just a group of your friends!
Needless to say been there done that bought the t-​shirt #escaped! Will be back to conquer the voodoo room!

I would give an A for customer service. Having been to other escape my rooms, Clue Carre is mediocre. My group and I booked the voodoo room for about 7 people, and to be honest, I think that was too many people to be in the voodoo room. There were several times when we felt like we were just on top of each other with hardly any space to move. The room wasn’t challenging. The voodoo room was truly a scavenger hunt to find keys and codes to get out. Where as, other rooms I’ve experienced required a lot of thought and team cooperation. Overall, it was okay.

So fun and thrilling trying to solve all the clues for the next clue. Suspenseful!!!
Escaped with 4 minutes and 20 seconds left!

Really fun activity for a group of friends or team building exercise for a group of co-​workers. You get locked in a (small) room for an hour with your friends so choose your team wisely and wear deodorant if solving puzzles makes you sweat. If your team gets stuck they will send you clues to help you along. We did the voodoo room and I am hoping to go back and try the other room. We ended up not being smart cookies and solved the case a minute after the time was up. So close, yet so far away! Even though we didn’t solve it in time, it was still fun and we all got some good laughs out of it. If you are looking for something different to do, I recommend Clue Carre.

This was super fun! It was just my partner and me in the Voodoo Room and we escaped with 17 seconds left!
They have a panic key if you can’t handle being locked in a room but it didn’t ever feel overwhelming or claustrophobic. It wasn’t dark or eerie.
The clues were challenging and if you start to struggle you can get help from the host. I think it’d be ideal with a larger group so you can have more brains but it’s do-​able with two people.
We’re definitely going to try the Mardi Gras room next time.
