History

Established in 2006.

Camp Restore began as an effort of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod to provide a place to stay for the thousands of volunteers coming from across the nation who helped muck, gut, and rebuild hundreds of New Orleans homes flooded by Hurricane Katrina.

Since its founding, Camp Restore has housed over 20,000 volunteers from all 50 states and over 20 countries.

Work continues today in the form of ongoing home restoration and construction projects, as well as community projects in partnership with over 80 local New Orleans nonprofits.

Mission-trip groups, youth groups and alternative winter and spring break student groups come to serve alongside local New Orleanians throughout the metro area year-round.
