Camp Bow Wow New Orleans

Its more expensive than say a vets office boarding service but the piece of mind if worth it! The online cams is great for nervous Nellys like myself. The upgrade-​able rooms for the dogs is great because there is cameras in there too to see your baby sleeping.
I recently brought my babies there for Santa pics. Was hilarious.
I find the general temperament of the other dogs similar to mine. Easy going and friendly. The ones that are aggressive typically are separated and not invited back. I have an Australian Shepard and they are familiar with this breeds extra playfulness and that was a nice feeling to have as I drove off.
Having been a volunteer at a no kill shelter for awhile (PAWS) I am hyper sensitive to the conditions and treatment of the animals there and I have no beef. It of course will not be one on one love like your baby would receive at home but its way better than being locked up in a cage all day too.
I recommend this location.

We were planning a trip to New Orleans, and wanted to take our dogs with us as we found a pet friendly hotel. However, we also knew we wanted to sight-​see a bit, so we booked them in daycare for the day. My dogs have been to 2 other camp bow wows, and we’ve always had a good experience.
The area around this particular facility is a bit sketchy. I had planned to walk them there, but then saw that it was 2.5 miles from our hotel so we drove. When I dropped them off, I asked if it was safe to walk and the girl said «Absolutely not. Its not safe. There is a lot of crime at the moment». I should have guessed when the front door was automatically locked behind you, and you had to be buzzed in. Good to know. Not Camp Bow Wow’s fault of course.
My husband and I had a full day of touring planned, and I told the lady at the desk I would pick my dogs up at 7. That was not a problem she said.
On my way to pick my dogs up that night, my husband’s phone rang at approximately 6:52. Camp Bow Wow had called my brother in Canada, saying that I never showed up to pick up my dogs. This of course triggered a massive panic among my family. My parents were called, they of course called my cell (which was dead), so they called my cousin for my husband’s number, etc. When they called my husband’s cell, I said we were on our way to get the dogs.
When we arrived (at 6:55) I was told «We didn’t think you were coming. We’ve been trying to get a hold of you». I said, I told you I would be here at 7. Its not yet 7 and I thought that’s when you closed? The girl did not seem overly impressed with me. I also did not get a report of the day my dog’s had, minus «they did good».
The pricing is extreme. We ended up paying close to 50 dollars for our 2 dogs, for a day of day care. Our normal daycare charged 15 dollars a day, or 12 if you buy a 5 day package. And we are extremely happy with that daycare.
All in all, we didn’t have a great experience. But the worst part was the facility calling my brother and literally setting my entire family into panic mode. My father was convinced we had been killed (he’s a bit dramatic). If someone tells you they will be somewhere by a certain time, don’t start freaking people out 10 to 15 minutes before hand. Just a suggestion.

Love this camp so much. I am a first time dog mama, and therefor fairly hesitant about leaving him in unfamiliar situations. That being said, I am beyond comfortable Leaving him at Bow Wow. After coming in once, most of the staff knew us by name. I have not had even one interaction that was anything short of friendly and professional.
We also decided to enroll our dog in obedience classes with Jack. Each class was a pleasure and highly informative. Our dog LOVED coming and loved Jack, his instructor.
When we pull into their parking lot, my dog can barely contain himself, he is SO excited. I can’t say enough good things about this camp.

This Camp Bow Wow, as much as I wanted it to be a great place for my dog is poorly run. Ex: They call and ask when I’m picking my dog up, when I’ve already picked her up, and they keep poor records.
This weekend (labor day weekend) we were adventuring to Baton Rouge where they have another branch. I called a week ahead of time to schedule the stay, and told them that all vaccines were updated. They told me that they did not have records of the updated vaccines, but that they’d call the NOLA office and get copies… Well, today, on the day of drop off I find out that no phone calls where made to anyone, none of the paperwork was asked for and that she could not stay. Not only is this frustrating, and disappointing, but now all other plans for the weekend have to go out the window. I wanted to like this camp, and have given it multiple chances, but ultimately I leave slightly disappointed and today completely I unsatisfied.

Would never recommend this place to anyone. I am from ATL and my dog enjoys a daycare here 2 – 3 day a week. My husband had to temporarily relocate to Nola for work so we all went with him, my dog included. I took Duke for his «interview» at Camp Bow Wow and he passed and began going to daycare there a few days a week. He loved it and thats what the employees would tell me every day when I went to pick him up. One day 3 weeks later I get a call from the camp director basically saying come pick your dog up, he is no longer welcome here. When I questioned what happened, her response was that he was starting fights and has caused too many incidents being territorial over sticks and rocks. She said «we have been working with him for about a week, but since he hasn’t improved he can no longer come back here.» Really??? He has been starting dog fights and this is literally the first I have ever heard of it??? Thanks for the heads up that you’ve been «working with him». Well I then ask for them to give him the bath I pre-​paid for and I will pick him up after that. She also promised me a credit for the remaining days on his daycare package. When I went to pick him up, the girl at the desk just cheerfully said «here for Duke?» with NO knowledge that he was not allowed to come back, if he had his bath or not, or that I was owed a credit to my credit card. Where was the camp director that had called me to basically kick out my dog? Cowardly she was nowhere to be seen. I literally took my dog home in tears because I thought what am I doing wrong since he LOVES playing with dogs. His ATL daycare laughed when I told them what happened and said they clearly don’t have control of their dogs or playrooms there. I felt very disrespected as a loyal paying customer of Camp Bow Wow and the situation should have and could have been handled way differently. And the whole thing was just strange considering every time I logged onto the webcams my dog was either hanging outside alone (unsupervised which is another issue) or inside the playroom walking around or laying down. Very shady the way it all went down and I cant stress enough how poorly I view this business now.

My dog loves camp. He was very shy when we adopted him and unfortunately I don’t always have time to bring him to the dog park and get him to interact with other animals. I heard about camp bow wow and knew I had to try it. My dog loves it from day one. It’s like school for dogs. He makes friends and the staff is great! They do bathes, grooming, daycare, boarding etc.

We really enjoy camp Bow Wow and so do our dogs! The staff is very courteous and the dogs have fun. I also like the camera so I can watch my dogs during the day.
I would give five stars except for the fact that you cannot use your daytime dog credits for overnight dog stays at the face value. So, for ex. if you have $ 75 bucks available to apply to your daytime camp bills it’s value is immediately depreciated (say to $ 50) if you apply it to your over night stay bill.

We continue to be very impressed with Camp Bow Wow. My dog Mary has been going here for years. Recently, she became sick halfway through the camp day. The Bow Wow staff immediately noticed, and called us to let us know. They even offered to take her to the vet for us. Bow Wow also didn’t charge us for the day because she didn’t get a full day of playtime. It was just top notch service all around. We have tried other dog camps and nowhere else in the city compares!

Camp bow wow is absolutely incredible! The prices are pretty reasonable and the staff is always super friendly. I have a hyper one year old Australian Shepherd named Westen, who really needs play time. Unlike other kennels, camp bow wow lets your dog play all day in an open area while being supervised. They also have a camp bow wow app, where you can watch your dog while he’s having fun at camp. This makes me feel really confident about leaving him, and knowing he won’t be cooped up all day.

Beau Jacques, my 60 lbs poodle mix, loves his time at Camp. Whether it’s daycare or overnight, I never worry about whether or not he’s being cared for. Each time we enter the building, he is greeted with smiles and enthusiasm. As someone who at times works long hours, it’s great to have Camp for my pup and to know he is socializing & playing.

Let me preface this by saying we didn’t make it past the ‘interview.’ Called to schedule interview and make sure requirements were met. Said to bring in records that day and we could tour the facilities and they could meet my two dogs for the interview… that’s it.
Brought my dogs in with all their up to date paperwork. It wasn’t until we were there and rearranged work schedules to do so that we were informed that we needed a kennel cough shot before we could come in (my dogs had it yearly, not every six months). *thanks for telling me this when I called ahead of time so that we would be prepared*.
Rushed to vet, got shot, returned… was told we could not view the facility like we were told and that we had to just leave our dogs there for several hours. What!!! POOR communication. Now that my dogs went from camp to vet to camp again, they were extra stressed. Now that I had to leave them with seemingly incompetent people without expecting having to, I was stressed as well.
My dogs that are highly socialized sat in the corner the whole time. Pictures are worth a thousand words and their welcome photos were comically sad.
Upon pickup, the woman at the front desk told us that they were almost at their 120 dog capacity, that they had been having a lot of ‘issues’, were short staffed by almost half their normal crew, that large dogs kept getting in where small dogs were kept and chaos ensued. That often large dogs leap over their lobby barrier and since the door is automatic they end up on busy Tchopitoulas.
WAY TO SELL ME?! Is honesty the best policy? Yikes! It reeked of pee and it was thunder storming, so imagine 119 dogs freaking out, to top it off.
People we respect highly recommended Camp Bow Wow, but after this initial experience, I will never utilize their services.

I like this place and so does my dog. I have a very energetic Catahoula and he comes home completely pooped! So far I haven’t seen any issues. The only thing I don’t like is paying for half the service up front, but I guess that’s to ensure you keep your appointment. I hope someone invests in their camera system soon.

I took my puppy here so she could spend the day with other dogs while I went to the French Quarter Fest. 2 days later she starts sneezing I thought it was just her allergies but she was still sneezing and coughing a week later. I ended up having to take her to MSAH to see her vet today. Turns out she has a nasty upper respiratory infection from spending the day here. I now have to give her meds for it. Camp Bow Wow should be ashamed of themselves not having a policy in place that dogs that are sick shouldn’t be allowed to be able to go to the camp I will not be bringing my sweet puppy back here ever again.

Got home buddies through camp bow wow and it was a wonderful experience. The pricing is great and the staff is wonderful. Sharonlynn was a great sitter to our two kittens. They looked very happy and healthy when we got home. She left notes for days she came by and detailed everything that was done for the day. Awesome and we will be using them for future trips out of town!

Our kids went. there every day that we were in nola and they were happy and tired at the end of the day. We were able to watch them on camera and the staff was so nice.

I think the people at Camp Bow Wow are friendly and have good intentions, but the services I received there just weren’t up to par. I took my dog there once a week for about 3 months and during that time period, he go canine papilloma virus (which is a contagious form of warts) and kennel cough. He also came home smelling disgusting every time so I always had to bathe him afterwards or pay them to bathe him. Needless to say I won’t be taking him there anymore!

I felt pretty iffy about our whole experience here. The space is clean and the store is nice, I just don’t feel the employees really know how to handle dogs that well.
We had the free trial pass for one free day — my dogs usually go to Canine Connection or Zeus’ Place. My dogs travel with us often and board along the way on road trips with us, so they are pretty used to new people/​new dogs/​new places. Last time we were in Tennessee, we had trouble finding a boarding place open on Sundays except for Camp Bow Wow, which is a national chain. The lady told us that they needed to «personality test» my pups before they could be boarded and that they didn’t personality test on Sundays, and suggested next time we were in New Orleans we bring them by just so they could board at other locations on our next trip. This seemed like a good idea, so I brought them by to the Tchop location last week.
I was immediately skeptical of the dog-​handling skills of the employee — the woman was trying to take pictures of them as they freaked out (because I was still visible) and she kept offering them treats and just getting them more flipped out. The woman had them really riled up, and it seemed chaotic and disorganized. She said that my boxer nipped her, which (though she has never, ever done this before… also she has quite a wonderful underbite so there are teeth in a lot of her licks) I wouldn’t be surprised could have happened in such a crazy environment, and therefore I took her home with me. They later called me to say that my other dog was snapping while playing. As a dog-​park-​frequenter, I just kind of laughed. Of course a young, energetic lab play fights while wrestling around with other dogs. Oy. Obviously not our kind of place. My dogs totally did not fit into the vibe here, and if you have young, energetic dogs I would suggest Canine Connection over this place — the employees did not seem particularly well trained on how to interact with dogs, read dog-​language, etc. They don’t know a play-​bow from a dog attack :-)

Horrible experience! Don’t take your dog here if you love them. Our 9 year old mild mannered yellow lab came out bleeding from and dog bite and was sopping wet when we went to go pick him up after his short 2 night stay. The staff didn’t even seem to care! Almost as though this happens all of the time!
Our dog’s paws were also completely inflamed. The app to view your dog doesn’t work well at all either.

I LOVE Camp Bow Wow… rather, my pooches LOVE it… aww hell what can I say we all love it! I take my boys here as often as I can afford to when I have to work, and I can afford it pretty often considering how reasonable it is for an entire day of supervised romping around with other dogs in HUGE outdoor and indoor spaces. All of the yards have live webcams you can check out on their website to spy on your kids, see what they’re up to and make sure they’re behaving.
The biggun’ (Carter) always starts dozing off while sitting up on the way home, and THAT my friends is worth every penny of that $ 25. If you’ve every owned a 100lb dog in their terrible twos I’m sure you can relate. Don’t get me wrong, I love spending time with our lovable ball of energy, but during the week when I don’t have time to help him get his energy out this is just so perfect.
The staff is wonderful, and if anything out of the ordinary happens at camp they make sure to fill out a «report card» and fill you in before you leave. For example the other day Carter and another dog were apparently playing rough (as 100lb dogs tend to do) and busted his lip a little (very little). Well they fixed him right up, filled out a report card and were sure to tell me all about it when I got there to pick him up that night. This brings me to my next point, they separate the dogs up into size groups. As much as my little dog (Colston) hates this because he thinks he should be with the big boys, it’s a great way to ensure all your pooches are playing safely with dogs their size.
Though I’ve never had to board our boys overnight, I would be more than comfortable doing so here. They have wonderful rooms with more amenities than most nice hotels I’ve put MYSELF up in. Complete with plush beds, treats, and cameras in every room so you can check up on your pooches just like you can in the play yards.
Overall, I couldn’t be happier with this daycare.

Camp Bow Wow is awesome not only in the fact that the dogs that go have such a great time but also because the staff really enjoys what they do. I love bringing my dog here because I know he will be well cared for and have the time of his life. I also love that they adopt out animals from here! We need more for profit businesses that step up to the plate like they do.
Nitty Gritty: They group the dogs by size and preference so that everyone is a happy camper. They board animals as well as groom and train. They have a small retail section that sells food and toys and other dog centric merchandise.
