History
Established in 2014.
We originally catered Venezuelan & Trinidaddian foods to the film industry in New Orleans, but after explosive growth and by popular demand, we had no choice than to open a brick and mortar establishment/location where the industry folks could gather and enjoy meals with their friends and family. We are now proud to share our exotic latin and caribbean meals with all the New Orleans public and we welcome everybody! Come Calypso with us!
Meet the Business Owner
Michael S.
Business Owner
Michael was born in Caracas, Venezuela and his parents Tony and Jean are from Trinidad & Tobago. Growing up in this unique combination of rich cultures impressed him from a very young age, especially the exotic foods and musics of these countries & the caribbean. This love of culture & food motivated Michael to start providing caribbean foods to the United States public. After moving to New Orleans in 2013, Mike and his wife Annie discovered that this rich cultural city also had an intense love for exotic foods & so they decided to open Calypso Restaurant after many people asked them to. Initially they catered Venezuelan & Trinidaddian foods to the various film productions that were taking place in New Orleans, but based on the explosive success they had, they had no choice but to open a brick and mortar establishment where all their film friends can come and enjoy the exotic delicacies. Mike is also an actor, italian opera singer, filmmaker and has worked in many movies and tv shows.
