Bruff is amazing. The sodexo workers are so nice and if you get to know them they will even give you extra food! The aura is also really nice and the people watching is excellent! The food has really improved in the past four years, from serving just cantaloupe and apples in the fruit section to blackberries, raspberries, and even pineapple! Also during finals both in the winter and in the spring they have a wonderful event called CRAMJAM where they serve lots of yummy fried food and have games and even a photo booth! They also serve creole creamery ice cream for dessert daily, which is a local new orleans favorite!!! Moreover every week they have chefs from the area compete around lunch time to see who has the best food! Its so fun and is always entertaining. Even though people tend to give bruff a bad rep as it is the school’s dining hall, it is absolutely the best place to eat on campus!!!

It’s awful. Food sucks. Meat is dry. Supposed to be wet. Ew. Don’t go here. You will ragret it. For real. The food is inedible and shouldn’t be allowed to be served.

The sandwiches are always a safe choice. Quantity over quality though– too many options and not enough good food for $ 60 grand a year

Necessity is where they get you. If you are on a budget and are starving Bruff is the biggest bang for your buck on Tulane’s campus. PROS: — The ladies and gentlemen of Sodexo really and truly make this experience worth coming back — They are getting a lot better about offering healthy options, including more fruit, salad, and varieties of non-dairy milk CONS: — The prepared food is forgettable at best, it usually amounts to barely recognizable food groups slopped in assortments on plates that are cold and often corroded with the meal of the person who ate on it last — TONS of waste. I have seen managers tell employees to toss out perfectly good food because of something or another — literally entire hotel pans tossed in the trash — Various takes on southern cuisine that are embarrassing and sad. I feel terrible that some of these kids from other parts of the country are going to be eating this«jambalaya, gumbo, collared greens, etc.» thinking WTF? When in reality those foods taste and look nothing like the real thing — Bruff is COLD. I really love air-conditioning and would consider my affection for it almost unhealthy, however, I wear hoodies and scarves in Bruff in the middle of the summer @tulanenews @tulaneevents @tulaneadmission

For the longest time all the Tulane students would crowd Loyola’s dining hall but Loyola kids wouldn’t return the favor. Now I see why. Sometimes you get here at weird hours when some sections get switched out.(So no bacon & eggs for dinner.) The pizza never really feels like pizza, more like cardboard. At least they’re open till 10 pm. And at least they have chicken patty sandwiches

I was first introduced to Bruff right before finals. I’ve never gone there because I’m not a freshman, and I remember when I was a freshman some where else… wow! this place is great in comparison. They have a huge selection of anything, and most everything that you would want. The students get really creative with making things.(I saw one kid make his own banana waffle). Therefore, not a very safe place to eat if you’re worried about contamination if you don’t ask first. Why do I love coming here? It is the perfect study spot. No internet, unlimited coffee and food. So when you come to study, you won’t have much distracting you. They don’t keep track of how long you’ve been there, so I’ve been there for 7 hours before(yes, two meals for the price of one). It does get a little loud with the music, but this place works for me. I’m set with my flashcards, coffee and snacks for hours.

BLAHHH!!! I am so happy i am not going to live on campus next year and never have to eat here again. But, hey, its a college cafeteria so what do you expect walking in. The food is edible, it is unlimited, and it dosen’t have a lot of scop of flavor or interesting qualities BIG surprise. Bruff is always there though and it has a decent salad bar and make your own sandwich station. This is pretty much what I lived off of. Avoid cross contamination, eat a sandwich.

Bruff Commons is a staple in the Tulane University student’s diet(especially for freshmen), and this isn’t necessarily a good thing. Over the years I’ve seen it grow from crap to not as bad crap to a little better crap to edible. And that’s basically the best I can describe it: it’s food and you can eat it. There’s not really any appeal to it besides the fact that it’s an all you can eat cafeteria with various things to choose from(even though these choices aren’t great). And when you’re not a university student who is required to buy a meal plan for each semester, it’s not even worth your time. I think it’s at least $ 8 at the door for guests, and I can tell you that even if you ate every single ounce of prepared food in there, it wouldn’t be worth $ 8. Now don’t get me wrong, Bruff has its good days. The best times to go is when all the perspective students come to visit Tulane with their parents. I think they try to give the impression that they’re an adequate dining facility, so they have really fancy things(like bananas foster and lasagna!) to show off. Then there are the rare occasions when you just go by happenstance, and you get a surprisingly good batch of macaroni and cheese or it’s make your own cupcake day. Since the prepared food isn’t always up to par, you can stick with the things you make yourself. Basically there’s an sandwich and salad bar. Take your pick. The chicken salad is pretty good, in my opinion, and everyone loves a nice turkey sandwich(can’t really mess that one up). There’s also cereal, bagels, and fruit. I would steer clear of the fruit though; it doesn’t always look so good…
