Business Owner

Amy has 15 years retail experience and is a resident of St Roch in New Orleans. After falling in love with a boy who evacuated to Chicago after the storm, she arrived in NOLA in 2009 and is part of the partnership that owns The Lost Love Lounge in the Marigny. Bön Castor fulfills her dream of having a storefront to show the amazing things local artisans produce and create economic opportunities in the Bywater.

Lots of 5 star reviews for this place. Most be from people who went when the owner felt like showing up.
I read on Facebook that a friend of mine had some of her work there and that it would be open at 12 noon. We went a little after 12 and a woman coming out of the shop told us it wasn’t open until one. The Facebook time had been a mistake. So we left and came back little after one. The door was unlocked and there was a woman there. After a few minutes of looking around, she told us the store was actually closed and she was there for a photo shoot. As we prepared to leave AGAIN, another woman came in and repeated that the store was not open. That’s enough for me to simply never go back. Very laid back and ultra existential but what a disservice to the artists whose work she’s representing.

Beautiful store filled with amazing unique one of a kind items. Beautiful dresses from Esther Rose. A definite must of you live there or are just passing through. Amy is a dream. So kind and polite and helpful.

On a scale of 1 to 10 of things I love, with 10 being James Van Der Beek playing with a basket of kittens and 1 being parakeets (sorry birds)) Bön Castor is a solid 8. I wish I had more money so I could buy everything in the store! Jewelry! Natural bath and beauty products! Amazing prints! The SULA pit bull calendar! I want it all!
The fact that this place is a 2 minute walk from my house makes it all the more dangerous. Goodbye paycheck! I never wanted you anyways!

This is the cutest boutique in NoLa! Full of one of a kind, locally made, handcrafted gifts. The jewelry collection has something for everyone between the ages 5 – 85. And the customer service can’t be beat!

Amy Knoll’s shop is essentially town square for Bywater’s artist community, and her pool of talent runs deep. The works, gifts, art, clothing, and goods on display change from day to day, so I find myself visiting two or three times a week just so I never miss anything.
I can’t think of another place in town where I’ve bought furniture, paintings, birthday gifts, and clothing.
Bonus, the place is usually full of beautiful people!

From the moment I met the shop owner, Amy, I knew this would be a cool place. And it’s grown and flourished in the few short months it’s been open. Looking for handmade, unusual, eccentric even clothes, accessories, art and gifts? This is the place!
There are more than 80 talented crafters supplying this tiny shop but it’s not the usual schlocky saints & fleur de lis and nola crap. Luscious hand lotion, cool knitted caps, upcycled clothing and handmade furniture, that’s only the tip! Prices range from $ 5 to over $ 500 and stock changes weekly.
You just have to go in there — open from 11 am to 7pm or sometimes later. This place is truly New Orleans in its quirky talented goodies and its friendly proprietress.

This little gift shop sells jewelry, clothing, decorative items, and accessories which are all local and handmade. It’s a pleasant, friendly space, and everything is reasonably priced. The inventory changes frequently– when I went, there were some really cool Fleur-​de-​lis (I know we’ve all been Fleur-de-lis’d to death, but these are hand-​made and very unique,) hand-​sewn baby bibs, crochet blankets, hats, and hat pins, and some really neat jewelry with a local influence. One of the necklaces featured a medallion that looked very similar to an immortelle, which is a very intricate New Orleans funerary wreath which was popular in the 19th century. If you’re looking for that unique gift, check them out. Combine your visit with a great meal at Maurepas.
