Bella Nut Butters

Sydney was so lovely and welcomed Kelsey W. and I into her store with open arms. Bella Nut Butters is such a cool concept and she really spoiled us.
I’m a nut butter novice and an out of towner to boot, so Sydney insisted that we sit down, have some complimentary organic coffee, and sample each nut butter she makes. There were 8 in total and were served alongside slices of apple and Banana. Let me see if I can name them all: Peanut vanilla, peanut chocolate chip, Cashew love, cashew joy, sunflower, snickerdoodle, almond joy, and maple pecan. Woo! These nut butters were outstanding. All are organic, made with salt-​free nuts, and use perilla seed oil (packed with omega-​3s).
My favorites were maple pecan and the sunflower/​cinnamon/​honey creation. The price is a bit steep, about $ 10 for a 4oz jar, but these are as small batch and handmade as it gets. Sydney makes each jar fresh while you wait and is so knowledgable about the ingredients and flavor profiles. It will be great to see the shop develop into an amazing working space, coffee house, meeting spot etc.

I’ve been meaning to try Bella Nut Butters ever since I saw them online. I’ve followed their progress from just selling in small stores to now having a storefront, and finally got a chance to check it out this past weekend with a friend who was visiting from out of town. She had only ever had peanut butter, so I feel that it was a great little introduction to even more deliciousness!
The storefront is new, and a work in progress, but I can tell it’s going to be gorgeous when it’s finished, the idea is to make it an organic coffeehouse + outlet to buy the nut butters. There are also organic gluten-​free baked goods and lunch items available. The store is right on Robert E. Lee.
Sydney was gracious and attentive and set up a great little spread of 8 different nut butters with apple slices and banana coins to spread them on. Before that, we were offered complimentary coffee and 2 little snacks she’s working on getting onto Whole Foods shelves: a truffle, I believe it was peanut butter sunflower, and her take on a turtle: cashews, coconut, honey. both were so good. The nut butter varieties were rich, some were creamy smooth (like the peanut butter and cashew butter) and some had texture (like the sunflower maca-​cinnamon honey and almond-​joy). We didn’t mean to finish all of them, but oops, we did. No regrets. I ended up buying 2 little 4oz jars of Maple Pecan and Cashew-​Joy, and they were made and packaged for me right then. They are expensive little jars, but they’ll last a good while, and the ingredients are sourced with care, most are organic and raw, and local when she can!
Can’t wait to see how the shop turns out, next time I’m in New Orleans I’ll be bringing more guests with me to try out Sydney’s new creations!
