They make a mean burger with some good onion rings and ok fries. The burger is on the larger side and has some juicy deliciousness but sadly I’ve yet to have an opportunity to try their pizza but I reckon it will happen one day when I least expect it. They also feature some changing specials I’ve also neglected to sample thus far as I’m usually opting for the burger. The trend of duck fat, goose fat and poutine fries has really kicked up the fry competition in NOLA so the fries here might need to kick it up a bit. They have a bit more of a selection than your typical bar grub fare so you might want to check it out.

My friends and I go to Cosimos all the time. I love the bar, never been a huge fan of the food. In the past I’ve tried the chips and salsa, only to spit it out. Who the heck puts sugar in their salsa? I’ve also tried the spring rolls, which were alright until I found out that they buy them frozen. How can you serve frozen food as your own? Shame on you. The pizza is the worst, frozen dough, ragu for sauce, and the meat was all way over cooked. It is very clear that this place is run by idiots who know nothing about food. Even drunk people like things that taste good.

I found my new favorite bar food in the quarter! Yesterday was a miserable rainy day downtown and we knew we wanted mid day drinks & something to munch. We had no idea it was gonna be THISGOOD! You know I had to order the fried green beans. They were perfect! Not super greasy, lightly battered, and they still had that delightful green bean snap! Dip that in some sriracha mayo & I was in heaven. I also chowed down on some cold thai noodle salad. You get a TON of noodles, tossed with some veg & herbs, and a peanut sauce that was to die for. My friend got the terriyaki turkey burger and ate every last bite. I know she wanted to lick the plate when she was done. They have sweet potato fries & regular, both cooked to perfection. The prices were so decent, it took me forever to decide. I like that the bar is separate from the kitchen & that the kitchen takes cards. Also the wait is not very long at all, which isn’t the case at a lot of other bars that have kitchens. I will surely be returning to try everything else on the menu very soon. It was the perfect meal for a rainy day.

Upon moving to the french quarter I started trying new restaurants and bars, exploring areas that were away from the normal tourist haunts, looking for my new favorite local spots. I was fortunate enough to unknowingly move just around the corner from Cosimo’s Bar… and inside I fell in love. Bar Food is one of the greatest finds for me in quite some time. The menu is simple, uncluttered, and superb. Everything is so freshly made, and there are usually specials. The clam chowder is enough to keep me coming back. Next up to try is the pot pie!

I think this is the best BARFOOD in the quarter. The menu is simple but sophisticated; especially considering it is bar food. It is located inside Cosimo’s Bar, the second oldest bar in the quarter. The owners, Shannon and Aileen, are usually there to tell you about the menu and the specials. I had the Thai Noodle Salad and the Chili Cheese Dog with Onions last night. Both were amazing. The Wednesday special, «Mom’s Chicken Pot Pie,» sounds amazing as well. The menu ranges from apps(I want to try the fried green beans with sriracha mayo and the cold shrimp spring rolls), to salads, sandwiches, burgers, hotdogs, and pizza. What’s really neat about the menu is you can get your drunk/hungover chili cheese dog or, on a normal night, you can get a more sophisticated roasted turkey Panini with tomato, basil, and mozzarella on ciabatta(Shannon told me the turkey is home-made, like your thanksgiving turkey).
