Auto Impound Lot

Real address: Underneath I-​10 highway on conti St. Take canal St to i-​10 and then turn onto the feeder toward conti, you can turn under the bridge in either direction.
Even though these two major f* ups exist, I’m still rating four stars. Apparently it’s city hall’s fault that the address isn’t updated, so go give them one star! (they never answer their phone so good luck complaining)
There is a lot of space in the lot, so my car was parked far from other cars, making exiting a breeze. I also saw no scratches or dents on my towed rental car (mi biggest fear), so that’s good. There were many attendants available to help, no lines, no attitude, and overall friendly people for a tow place, so I didn’t leave enraged like I have after other towing experiences.
¹⁰⁄₁₀ would get towed again (just kidding).

This is the worst most unprofessional place I have ever witnessed. The city uses them to extort money out of parking victims. No sings or marking on street is not because of a 10 year old storm, but a money maker. Do not trust them. Been on news for corruption.

If I could give this half a star, I would. I’m a French Quarter resident with a visible parking permit in my rear car window and TWICE now I have been towed from legitimate spots. They will make up reasons for towing your car – they say I was too close to a stop sign, but I was outside of the triangle painted on the street, and now it’s costing me $ 193 and pay from work I’m missing. The actual people who work for the lot aren’t jerks – the guy on the phone was nice and understanding and very apologetic. But from experience, the first time through, the entire operation is shady. Also the real number isn’t listed online anywhere. Here it is: 504−658−8284. At this point I will not park anywhere near a stop sign ever again. I’m debating parking uptown near my job and taking the streetcar home unless I need groceries from now on.

I had 20 family members visit this weekend from California, Texas and New Jersery. One family member’s rental car was towed because the impound people said the car was not parked close enough to the curb. But the car was parked in a legal parking area.
Sounds like New Orleans is picking on our tourist. Cost $ 200. Rip Off.

This place deserves a half a star. They just let the phone ring and don’t even worry about answering it. The lobby where you wait looks like a shack a bum would sleep. Snack machine has expired food in it. Guess that’s the experience of having your car towed.

The reason I give this place two stars instead of one is because, despite the fact that you’re in the devil’s corridor for a legal hijacking of your personal property, waiting in a tiny room with very unhappy people and a sign that says you can’t use your phone in there yet an employee is giggling and chatting on her cell… the lady behind the window is quite pleasant while charging you upwards of $ 150 ransom for the kidnapping of your vehicle.
It’s not her fault. And she was nice and got us out of there as quickly as possible.
Though if I develop a tumor from asbestos poisoning because of the poor conditions of the waiting area, they’re losing a star. Props for the candy machine.

I’m not giving the Impound Lot two stars because I am angry about being towed, although that contributed to my overall discontentment with the situation. I’m giving it two stars because the office is in a sketchy location under the interstate without any safe, nearby parking and the attendants at the actual lot are very rude.
None of the numbers I found listed online went through. Some didn’t exist, others just rang and rang. There IS a phone there, as I saw the clerk answer it more than once, but I couldn’t manage to find the real number for it.
The building is small and truly depressing. A moldy, dust-​covered window unit rattles and drips dirty water into a trash can. A bored guard sits at a desk playing on their cell phone. The clerk is understandably short tempered and not willing to work with you outside of what is absolutely required to get your car out. My situation was frustrating because my registration was expired, so I had to go to the DMV (which I needed a car to do) before I could get my car. Anyway, it was my problem and I dealt with it but I will make SURE I do not have to return.
One plus: the long hours make it easy to handle all of the headachey business in a day.

I’m writing this review so there is detailed information available to those who get their cars towed. Mine was towed the other day from the Marigny, and there is no information online about the hours, or a phone number that someone will actually pick up. Hopefully this will make it easier for you to get your car.
Hours: 7 AM to 1 AM, everyday
Location: 400 N Claiborne; there is an office on a lot under the I-​10. It’s run down, what you’d expect at an impound lot. Go early to avoid lines. Park across the street.
Price: $ 153 to pay for the actual tow; $ 17 a day if you don’t pick it up immediately; $ 40 ticket (mine was for parking too close to a stop sign)
The people are fine, just don’t put up a fight. Get your car and move along. They will let you get your registration from your car. If your car is not there, it was probably moved to another lot in Almonaster. You can use a credit card.
It’s a pain, yes, but it happens, especially when the Super Bowl is during Mardi Gras. Good luck.
