History

Established in 2015.

About ten years ago, shortly after Hurricane Katrina devastated the city of New Orleans, Dr. Dianne Walker-​Houston opened up the Smile Gallery to provide amazing dental care to people slowly returning to their homes after the storm. Dr. Houston continued over the next ten years to build her practice, earning a well deserved reputation of an honest, fair and talented dentist.

In the summer of 2015, after searching for two years for the right person, Dr. Houston welcomed Dr. John L Hobgood III, DDS to the practice to help continue the tradition of excellence she had started. When Dr. Hobgood came to the practice, the name was changed to Algiers Dental Associates, because it was no longer just Dr. Houston, but a family of general dentists and specialists.

Business Owner

Dr. John Hobgood is originally from South Louisiana and is happy to return here after practicing in Shreveport, Louisiana, for three years. He graduated cum laude in biological sciences before earning his dental degree from the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry. Dr. Hobgood often takes twice the amount of the required continuing education hours every year and has advanced training in Six Month Smiles® and dental implants.

Providing high-​quality care in a relaxing environment is Dr. Hobgood’s greatest goal, as is treating every patient like a member of the family. He holds memberships with the American Dental Association, Louisiana Dental Association, International College of Oral Implantology, American Academy of implant dentistry and the New Orleans Dental Association. Dr. Hobgood and his wife, Caroline, have a daughter named Elizabeth. In his spare time, Dr. Hobgood enjoys fishing, Louisiana State University, and taking his daughter to the zoo.
