First experience at Jakes — I am very happy. Was able to talk to Jake before I dropped my car off, which was nice. He got me in and out in about 3 – 4 hours changing all my brakes out which were grinding. Price was right about what I’d expect, maybe a little less. For me though it’s more about getting something done right by someone who knows what they’re doing and this seems to be a place where that happens. I will be utilizing Jakes from here on.

I called this place because my check engine light had turned on. I explained the situation and told the guy I wanted to bring my car in, but I couldn’t leave my car that day if it needed work because my son had a doctor appointment that afternoon. The guy encouraged me to bring the car in just to get checked out, and if it needed work, I could make an appointment for another day. I did and it turned out to be a leak in the gas cap. The guy reset my computer, put grease on my cap, and sent me on my way. Without charging me. I appreciated the service and honesty. When I do actually need service on my car, I will bring it back.

Let’s see, Jack is talented, honest and really good at what he does. He changed the oil in my Mercedes, fixed lights that theoretically only the dealer could fix, and installed air filters. Doeshis research, knows what he is doing. Did I mention HONEST. Definitely using him again! I am a fan! Job well done.

A fair mechanic? Yep. This is one. Jack is fair and does a great job. Found him by word of mouth from a friend. That’s a high compliment! Will continue to bring our vehicles to this mechanic. Flexible hours for scheduling and always done right.

Have to say I can no longer say that mechanics = bleed me dry. We were new to the area and my husband’s childhood mechanic was retiring. We stopped into Jack’s because of father-​in-​law (also new to the area) recommendation. There is no place else we would go than Jacks! At the time we were having issues with my civic adjusting to the weather from TX heat to IL winter (that’s my diagnosis because after that winter, there was never another problem). Jacks couldn’t find anything wrong with it after all diagnostics were run, but he could drive it and see that it wasn’t driving correctly (not wanting to go over 30 mph). Jack didn’t even charge us, he just referred us to another shop specializing with transmissions, we just had to pay to tow it. We ended up not needing any other work done because by the time the transmission mechanic got to the car, it was acting normal again. After all of that, we could have been out some serious money, but Jacks Automotive doesn’t = bleed me dry. We’ll be back as needed and won’t think twice about trusting Jacks!

I took my dodge into the state to get the emissions tested and I failed it miserably. I stopped at one of those «We Fix Emissions» places right out side the testing center and got a bad deal. This place recomended a tune up, so i got it, 300 bucks later my check engine light came on again.
I stopped out at Jacks Automotive on my way home from work and asked him to take a look. He asked me to leave the car until wednesday and he would let me know what was wrong. Wednesday morning he called me and said that the only thing wrong with my car was a «Cam Sensor» and he would have it replaced by the end of the day.
Jack was nice enough to wave the diagnosis fee and only charged me 50 bucks for the labor. Long and the short of it, he gave me a good deal and got my dodge on the road again. My car passed emissions yesterday with no problems. I will be bringing my car to Jacks Auto from now on.

I have had many a car in my day, and have had to use numerous mechanics to repair them. Last fall, I needed to have my truck looked at to see if it was even worth paying to fix for what I had paid for it. Luckily, I found Jack’s Automotive and I will never use any else ever again. I have referred co-​workers and family here and they are all just as happy. Coming here, I was able to have my truck looked at for a small fee and find out just what I needed to hear. Plus, I didn’t walk out thinking that I needed more done on it then what was thought.

My AC fan would not run on the lower settings. Spoke with the owner, got an appointment, a diagnosis, and prompt service with a fair price. :)

Unfortunately we had to take another family car to the mechanic again. Fortunately we have a very GOOD mechanic to go to. So we dropped off our car at Jacks Automotive and the next day we had the Oil Pressure Switch replaced. The damage, including labor and a discount came to $ 50 dollars even. Thank you again Jack! I really appreciate having a very GOOD mechanic to go to when we have car troubles. And I know you will too my dear reader the next time you experience any vehicle problems. Remember just go to Jacks Automotive in New Lenox!
