Really cute very tiny wine and booze shop tucked into a very non-descript old strip mall near the NY-MA border, the rather tiny selection and short hours might normally simply pass my notice as far as Unilocaling, but the super-friendly and helpful proprietor propels this up to «if you need some, you might as well stop» status. On the one hand there wasn’t a huge selection, and there was one and only one featured wine; but that wine was a great Rioja, and if you’re only looking for one good bottle of wine and you find one good bottle of wine, isn’t that a successful trip?

I’m really glad I found this little gem of a wine & liquor store in my travels between Albany and Pittsfield, which is a trip I make often. The owner is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, and he clearly takes pride in pleasing his customers with quality products, good prices, and superior service. It’s a small shop, but Duncan’s sells all the brand name standards you’d expect, plus a number of more unique local wines. And who doesn’t love a wine shop that offers regular tastings? So, it’s probably off the beaten path for many Unilocalers, but Duncan’s is well worth a shot if you’re in the area or passing through.
