I called for an emergency rodent problem in the middle of the night. The exterminator showed up and did an excellent job treating my apartment. He was very knowledgeable and polite and I highly recommend his service. Also he did not charge me for an emergency service fee. Thanks Doug.

I recently moved to New Hyde Park about 2 months ago into our newly renovated home and noticed these CREEPY creatures in the basement. They are a hybrid between a cricket and a spider. After some research, these things were called camel or cave crickets. YUCK, just google it and you’ll get the chills! Anyway, I contacted Doug’s Bug Exterminating Services and he quickly picked up his phone. Turns out he was on vacation with his family (internationally). He was very eager to help and arranged a time to come to our house to inspect the problem and spray the day he returns from his trip. He did not make me sign up for any contracts unlike some of the larger more popular exterminating companies (I.e: Orkin). Orkin charged $ 300 for the first inspection/​spray and $ 48 per month for entire year and you MUST sign up for a 1 year contract). Doug doesn’t have you commit to any contracts. It’s a call– him– as-​needed basis. Since winter is coming and all the bugs will not be around, he gave me a price break/​discount. Doug was very accommodating to my schedule. My appointment was yesterday, Friday 11÷27÷15 and he even texted me to inform me that he has arrived early at the house. Unfortunately, I wasn’t even home yet and he waited patiently for me. He was super friendly, professional and informative. He spent less than ½ hour at our home spraying all the problematic areas in the basement and main floor as well as spraying the outside perimeter of the home. Overall, the experience was very pleasant and would highly recommend his services to all my family and friends. No more sightings of these nasty camel crickets anymore! Yay!

i hired Doug’s Bugs this in August as a precautionary measure against mice. Unfortunately, I lost the receipt and number of the company I hired last year. When I called the service and described the size of my apartment, I was quoted a starting price of about $ 200. I agreed to the estimate and booked an appointment. Doug blew me off the first time, not showing up or even calling me to cancel. When I called the service, they told me that he had a personal problem and they apologized for the emergency that prevented him from coming. I again rescheduled only to be blown off one more time. At this point I decided to not call back to reschedule and left for a business trip for the next few weeks. Upon my return, I received a call from the exterminator booking service asking me if I still wanted the service. I communicated my skepticism that anyone would show and that I was upset that I had to wait twice with nothing to show for this. They apologized, told me they didn’t understand what the issue was, and promised to have someone at my place the next day. Doug came the next day, about 2 hours after I was told he would show up, and took a 30 second look through my apartment. He then proceeded to drop his traps and poison for a total period of about 10 minutes. When he told me that he was done, I was shocked. The company that came last year spent about 90 minutes going through every room with fine detail, looking in the closets, behind the appliances, and so on. That company then came back a second time for another round, and I had no problems for almost a year. They were great.
Not Doug, he took 10 minutes max, and then asked me if I also wanted him to protect my place against cockroaches for an additional $ 100. I agreed and literally 2 minutes later he told me he was done. I questioned him on how he could possibly complete $ 100 worth or work in 2 minutes and he replied with some answer about quality and not quantity. He then decided to drop the bomb and give me an invoice for $ 450 plus tax for a total of 12 minutes worth of work. I got upset and questioned how I could be given an estimate of $ 200 and up, have him show up for a total of 12 minutes and then giving me a bill for that amount. All he did was go around my place and drop poison and traps with little effort. I could have gone to home depot and bout the same things for $ 50. Regarding the original quote, Doug told me that it was only an estimate, that the quality of work was the best there was and that he guaranteed his work so that if a pest problem took place, he’d come back for free. I didn’t buy it and argued to the point of him agreeing to remove the $ 100 additional fee for his 2 minutes worth of work, but it still left me with a bill of $ 381.05 cents. 2 months later, that being this past week, we noticed mice droppings in the apartment. When I called Doug to ask him to come back and address, he told me that I stiffed him for $ 100, that his warranty was only good for 30 days, and then hung up on me. I called him back to ask if he hung up purposely, but he said we got disconnected. Bottom line, this company is a scam. When he came into my apartment, I should have known better, he was in a hurry to leave, didn’t review the estimate with me, left in less than 15 minutes, was unpleasant the entire time, and didn’t honor his warranty. Stay away from Doug’s Bugs, they are the worst!
