Bobb Howard’s General Store is an old-fashioned candy and toy store featuring over 1000 retro items from yesteryear… It is attached to Bobb Howard’s Service Station, a landmark in the neighborhood, that was opened October 12, 1946.
The General Store was created to bring people back to a simpler time — when toys didn’t require batteries — to the era of «Spaldeens», wax lips, Duncan yo-yos, Bonomo turkish taffy, wooden tops and Astro Pop lollipops… Voted BEST of Long Island: Mom & Pop Store, Candy Store, Toy Store, and Collectibles & Nostalgia Store — 5 Years in a Row… Voted Best of the North Shore… Named One of the 101 Places to Bring Your Family on Long Island… Parents’ Choice Award — Family Friendly Favorite… Nassau Happening Magazine — BEST Candy Store… Bring your kids, your grandkids, your moms and dads — and giggle with nostalgic memories…
History
Established in 1994.
Twenty one years ago, noticing the frenetic pace of today’s computerized world, Eileen decided it was time to go back to a simpler time — to have people remember what it felt like to be a «kid in a candy store» again — a place where kids of all ages could come and browse and giggle with nostalgic memories… Word spread about the store and now they ship «packages of memories» all over the world, and kids and «kids at heart» come through the door for a piece of «their past» — for themselves, for family and friends, for generations past, and to share with future generations…

Business Owner
Eileen and Ronnie are a couple of baby boomers who grew up on Long Island playing hopscotch and hide-and-seek, stickball and stoop ball, flipping baseball cards and jacks, and playing hit the penny and spin the bottle… They love what they do, they love coming to work everyday, and they love being able to put a smile on someone’s face, even if it’s with a nickel piece of bubblegum…
