Big 99 Cent Store

its an ok store doesnt have so many things and the service is BAD

This is more or less your typical 99 cent store, with the majority of things being way more pricey than 99 cents. Some of the items were priced comparable to CVS.
These stores are great for party décor or gift wrapping things, but I would take a pass on the food items. I enjoy the hunt for the misspelled stuff and the items which have names that borderline just wrong.
This store is in a very strange location behind the Papa Johns on New Hyde Park Rd.
During the visit there was a customer giving the manager all kinds of grief over making a return. He kept telling her that it’s all sales final, and she was saying his sign was not big enough. That’s the best reasoning I have ever heard… today. Ugh!
The store is ok, probably would not return.

Hand some summer bucket and pails only 1.49! I bought this not for the intention of playing in the sand or dirt but to take a dirt cake! When i got home and while i was washing them i noticed one of the handles was broken. So i went back and with my receipt they didnt give me a problem i was relieved! Sometimes i feel they might because the merchandise is cheap!
Also i found some gummy frogs. Never saw those before. They did not carry any gummy worms. But did have gummy bears and smurfs.

I just love, love, love this .99 Cent Store!!! They have a little bit of EVERYTHING! INCLUDING:
*arts and crafts, party supplies (with really cool, inexpensive party favors! So… if you are hosting a baby/​bridal shower, consider this as a stop for sure!)
*health and beauty items, soap, shampoo, conditioner, hair styling products, lotions, some name brand facial cleansers that are reasonably priced! make-​up, etc…
*household goods, such as sheets, blankets, pillows, throw rugs, all bathroom items, shower curtains, plungers, cleaning gloves, a plethora of cleaning products for every inch of your house, NOTE: if ya got creepy crawly critters in your house, they have the cure… even for those pesky bed bugs and the lightning fast reproducing roaches! Mirrors, cheap art, picture frames… Basically, if you need it for your home and you don’t want to pay an arm and a leg, visit this store! They will most likely have it!
*some clothing… mostly socks, underwear, and bras, scarves, mittens, gloves, baseball hats, some t-​shirts, button down shirts, and when you walk into the store there is a rack that has some name-​brand shirts, blouses, sweaters that rage from: nothing wrong with the item or slightly defective… to why isn’t this in the garbage instead of trying to be sold?
*a huge selection of inexpensive household tools, light bulbs for every imaginable type of light fixture, small, medium and large light bulbs…
*an ever expanding food section (with items that are sometimes out dated… check the date! Most items, however are still
far as the «use by» date… does the «use by» date **really** matter that much anyway???)
*costume jewelry… a lot of rhinestone earrings that really do not look too bad, and again, are reasonably priced for what you are getting. If you are going for a special occasion and need something «nice» at the last moment and you don’t mind costume jewelry, better stop here!
*bamboo plants, loose and potted, in an assortment of sizes, shapes (the winding bamboo and straight bamboo…), and prices… reasonably priced to kinda up there in price for the larger plants!
***And, now my favorite part!!*** I am a teacher, so with that being stated, there is EVERYTHING in the way of office/​classroom items!!! They have even recently started stocking posters for the classroom…“WELCOME” banners, bulletin board size calendars, beginning sounds charts, the alphabet, and other «themed» posters, (ya just need to check it out for yourself! Oh Yeah! As of my last visit, yesterday, 6÷24÷15, the price on the charts was $ 1.49! Definite bargain, especially if you have shopped for similar items at other «teacher stores»!!), packages of 1,000 + stickers for .99 cents!!! (Such a deal!!), many, many, many different types of stickers, poster boards for project time, stationary (some quite nice!), business card paper, envelopes, books for reading pleasure, coloring books, (crayons and markers… too many kinds to mention!), books to help your child in school… grade level indicated, (many are Common Core aligned,) and I could go on and on…
*****NOTE***** While I have tried my best to name many items that this store has, I am certain that I have not even made a dent in what they carry. The name, «BIG 99 CENT STORE» should be changed to Gigantic! It really has made my life much easier! And, there is a small, but sufficient, parking lot for the store, with a short walking distance to the entrance! Next door to this gem of a store are two women’s clothing stores: «Avenue» and «Dress Barn»…(I believe that these are the two stores… anyway,)
GO IN AND CHECK IT OUT FOR YOURSELF! YOU WON’T BE DISAPPOINTED!!! HAPPY SHOPPING!!! :)

I don’t understand the negative reviews here. I went and got some decent things. Store is crammed with everything you can imagine.

Don’t expect too much bargains and quality stuff at $.99 or Up Store.
But little things to accessorize your home or special events i would come here. A good selection special events (party, bachelorette hats, welcoming)
What i have spent nearly $ 28 itesm in 22 items
–Books for kids to color or to read (good for donations also)
–Hanging decorations (beads, special celebrations, alphabetical glittery to hang, accessories)
–house cleaning supplies (brushes, scrapers, plastic matts)
Most of the items are $.99 unless they are labeled (no more than $ 1.49). There were 2 staffs organizing while one cashier (which took forever). Credit card minimum $ 10 otherwise bring cash.
Parking lot outside (make sure you are not parked on the side because is limited to 30 min.

The name says it all– almost.
This is kind of what you think a .99 cent store should look like if you close your eyes and imagine one.
Stuff us crammed in every conceivable corner and from floor to ceiling in this place — which makes looking around half the fun. Most of the stuff is pure junk, but you can get some little knick knacks if you search hard enough– I really needed a cheapie flower pot for my tomato plant and scored one for $ 2.25.
Which brings me to my next point– not everything is a dollar in this particular dollar store, but to be fair, they do mark those items pretty well so it would be a hard argument at the front desk to make.
The lady at the register is a tough as nails little Indian woman and there was a lot of haggling going on with some of the patrons– I just paid and moved on.
Interesting place to kill a half hour.
