To the porches on the towpath staff esp John and meme — You guys are the best ! A perfect getaway From the warm greetings as soon as we arrived, to the tour of the whole place where elegance, luxury, class and simplicity — the only way I can describe it «unforgettable » -, the delicious breakfast the cleanliness of our room a perfect 10 — free parking space, easy access to the town –walking distance to everything — I just left the place — and I miss it already def. comin back for more — thank you guys !!

My first time at a BnB. I was very skeptical and didnt know what to expect. When we got there we were greeted warmly by John. Made us all comfortable and showed us around. My first impression was, very quaint, well maintained, and beautifully decorated. The rooms were very charming and all had their own personality. The place had plenty of private nooks and gardens. Very quiet and ideal place to relax. Very close to EVERYTHING. John was a very wonderful host. The room we stayed in was away from the main house. The room was so comfy and well kept. Very private and had its own garden! Beautiful to say the least. Wonderful freshly made breakfast by the host. Very entertaining and knew his way around. The towpath is right next to it and you can walk for miles! I would definitely come back and would certainly recommend this to my dear friends… love this place! Thank you for a wonderful time!!!

Treated my wife to a weekend here and made her very happy. Porches is unique and romantic. It gets good reviews for a reason, not sure what more I can add. It is a quality B&B. The staff impressed me, very friendly and accommodating. The grounds and buildings are also impressive, antique décor in every corner, indoors and out, with fancy gardens and furnished porches, lots to look at. The location is great, both private and within a block of New Hope’s attractions, near the bridge to Lambertville, so no need to drive, and it’s own entrance to the canal path was cool, like a secret passageway to the bars. The rooms vary greatly, as described on their web page, and we got one very private on second floor of adjacent building, which I would pick again.

Love love Porches and have stayed several times. The breakfasts are good, but what’s the deal — over the years, it’s the same breakfast every time… first day it’s waffles and bacon, second day an egg/​cheese/​veg casserole. The first couple times this was ok, but now it has become boring. For the prices I’d prefer something more inspired and varied. This won’t keep me away, but I just wanted to mention it.

Loved it! My bestie and I were just enjoying a bit of a girls’ weekend away and found Porches on a very lucky search for a B&B in the area.
We were in room one and loved the entrance straight to the porch, adjacent to the canal path up to the road. Breakfast was delicious — waffles with fruit and perfect bacon the first day, and a wonderful breakfast casserole with lots of cheese the second day.
We admittedly spent a few minutes wondering how they got the GIGANTIC wardrobe into our room, and my friend had some suspicions about it being haunted. The tv hidden behind the picture was also creepy/​cool.
It was agreed that we would both love to stay at Porches again and see more of the rooms.

Loved it here. Super friendly staff. Good breakfast. Décor of the main house was very nice. Perfect location.
Stayed in room #1 which is on the first floor. It has a private entrance which leads directly to the tow path. Room also has lots of books pertinent to the area. The floors creek so you hear the people in the room above you… every time they come up the stairs, every time they go to the bathroom. It didn’t bother us too much because the people above us were late sleepers.
There are televisions in the main house, but they never had them wired up. Ours was hidden in a dusty space behind a picture frame with hinges.
My only suggestion is that the cleaning person do a better job dusting. The books and business card holder were covered in dust.
Mostly everything is within walking distance, including the train and the Triumph Brewery.
We’re definitely coming back, but next time will stay on the 2^nd floor or in one of the Private Quarters.

My husband and I just spent a lovely three days at Porches on the Towpath! It is the essense of peace and quiet. Not to mention extraordinarily quaint and beautifully decorated inside and out. We had such a wonderful stay in room #5. Upon arrival we were greeted and given a tour leading up to our bedroom. Our room was immaculate and smelled like fresh laundry everyday. In the morning we could sense a faint smell of homemade breakfast and fresh coffee, just enough to make you feel at home. We were able to walk the towpath along the canal right from the porch. We didn’t want to leave! Loved every minute of this special place and we will definitely go back soon! Thank you to the staff of Porches!

This was my husband an my first bed and breakfast. We loved the entire trip. The breakfasts were amazing. The owner was so kind and helpful. I would def. go back to Porches on the Towpath again. It is within walking distance of everything. This was such a great experience.

Another fantastic stay at Porches on the Towpath! We have been coming for many years now and John is always a fantastic host. He is full of suggestions about the area but not obtrusive or in your space unless you want him to be. His new assistant, Bob, is a wonderful addition to the staff. You can park your car and walk everywhere which is a real advantage. Also bring your bikes if you have them and bike along the towpath. Beautiful! This was a girls trip but can’t wait to return in November with my husband!

We stayed at Porches on the Towpath for an overnight stay with my brother-​in-​law and sister-​in-​law as a gift for their 30^th wedding anniversary and we had won an overnight stay at a fundraiser we had attended earlier in the year. We stayed in the gatehouse in rooms 11 and 12 and Wow, what beautiful rooms! The stay was awesome, but definitely too short! We are local to New Hope and go their a lot, but staying overnight at Porches just made it that much better! Our host John was terrific and couldn’t be more accommodating. The breakfast on the porch was delicious and his humor made our morning! If you are looking to stay in the area of New Hope or Lambertville, this is where you want to stay! The way it is tucked back away along the canal is so private and the grounds and buildings are amazing, especially the porch! We will definitely be planning more getaways there! Awesome!

We just enjoyed a thoroughly relaxing 3 days at Porches on the Towpath in New Hope, PA. We drove up from D.C. to take a long bike ride along the Delaware towpath and enjoy beautiful Princeton, NJ together.
John was a most gracious host. He was full of the perfect recommendations for restaurants and entertainment in the area. The home was built in 1815 and the antique beauty of the house was remarkable from the wide aged floorboards to the tiled kitchen. It sits back from the bustle of main street so is as peaceful as it is accessible and backs up to the canal towpath. Little Jack Russell «Mimi» was a mini hostess and such a sweety!
Breakfast is outside on the lovely porches surrounded by verdant gardens. We might suggest a vegetarian option for breakfast.
There is so much to do in this area, from revolutionary history (Washington Crossing the Delaware) to art museums (Brandywine River Art Museum and Andrew Wyeth paintings), shopping, outdoor activity and theater at the Buck’s County Playhouse.
We highly recommend this lovely B&B!

I had been to New Hope several times when I lived in PA but never spent the night there until a recent trip. When deciding on a B&B, I wanted to be in the heart of it all and didn’t want to walk far to all the action.
The Porches is just that. It is right in the heart of downtown New Hope but it sits in an alley and right on the Delaware Canal towpath.
I stayed in room 3 which was small but quite comfotable. Most rooms have direct access to the porches that wrap around the house and that is often your point of entry during your stay. In the warmer months, the porches also serve as your breakfast spot with several tables setup for your dining pleasure. They even provide coffee on both floors.
John, the Innkeeper, was great. He would always suggest restaurants or points of interest to visit. Chrissie was great also as she checked me in and informed me of everything going on that night.
My only complaint here is the breakfast. When I visit a B&B, I am used to a more gourmet breakfast. But here the breakfasts are very simple, either a waffle or just scrambled eggs, bacon and toast.
But everything else here was perfect. I really enjoyed sitting on the porch at night listening to the frogs in the canal. I will definitely stay here again.

I have been staying here for close to 9 years. I absolutely positively love it. I have stayed in many B&Bs but this is by far my favorite. Beautiful décor, friendly staff and excellent breakfast make this the perfect getaway. Not a mediocre room in the place. I would never consider staying elsewhere in New Hope. Love it!

The only words I have is WOW! I loved every second of being in this place from the décor, it’s farmhouse/​country/​vintage inspired design, from John the business man himself and I believe the lady that works there her names Karla? They were all fantastic! and so was Mimi the dog! She was a little defensive of her owner though growling once anyone got too near to John but, absolutely harmless. The only reason I didn’t give this place a 5 was because the garden could use a little TLC. If you are a yuppy person I wouldn’t stay here, if you love character and charm and appreciate design and architecture from an eclectic standpoint this place will just sweep you off your feet. We had an egg strata the next morning and it was made very well and served very hot. The coffee was freaking fantastic, the sugar was fluffy and of good quality. When we first went into the house John greeted us, helped me with my bags upstairs and am showed us around the place making us feel very comfortable and happy with our decision.
I will be going back

My wife and I stayed there this last Friday and Saturday. We stayed in room 12 which was very large with a king bed and a separate bathtub and shower. First of all what a great location. Right off main street and 1 block from the bridge into Lambertsville.
Carol the manager greeted us and showed us to our room. She was very helpful in recommending restaurants and giving us directions. The breakfast that were served were very good. We had waffles and bacon one morning. They served an egg soufflé dish the next morning which we did not have.
It was a very romantic and wondeful experience we had at Porches. Will definetly stayed there next time.
We would recommend this to everyone. What a great B&B.

We stayed at Porches last night in the private suite (Room 5). John and Krissy were so accommodating and indispensable to my boyfriend who was making plans to propose to me. They set up the room for us with champagne, chocolate, and flowers chosen by my boyfriend — it was the perfect romantic and intimate place to get engaged! We ended our stay with a lovely breakfast on the porch — homemade waffles and bacon & everyone at Porches congratulated us on our new engagement! I highly recommend staying here — you will be well taken care of!!!

My girlfriend and I recently took a much needed break to New Hope, PA this week, and stayed at this B & B. We both agree that it was a wonderful experience! The location is perfect (right in the middle of town, though very quiet and tranquil) and the room was terrific… we stayed in # 12 (big bed and a wonderful bath tub). The inn-​keeper, John, and his staff were welcoming and gracious. Their knowledge of the area, as well as recommendations of what to see, do and eat, were most welcomed.
The only downside to our visit were the breakfasts themselves. They were just… ok. The dining is at one communal table, so if you’re morning people (which we aren’t) you may not enjoy having to make small talk with other guests. That said, we always had the option to have our breakfast served in our room (which we took advantage of the last day we were there).
We will definitely be back, and highly recommend this inn to anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle.

I want to live here forever! The host and staff are friendly and helpful without being imposing. The rooms are all very tastefully decorated and comfortable. The ambiance is laid back and friendly. The gardens are lush and pleasantly overgrown. New Hope can get a little crowded and loud; Porches is right in the middle of everything, but it succeeds in being quiet and tranquil. The breakfasts are huge and delicious, and are served on the porch. The coffee was so good I overdosed!
Make sure you ask the owner to show you his jack russell’s ball trick.
We loved our room, #3. It was small but cozy, not at all cramped. We loved the antiques as well as the art on the walls. The room was private, but had french doors leading to the balcony. The balcony was comfortably furnished and surrounded by trees, making it a lovely place to hang out in the afternoon.
Our mattress was a bit more firm than I prefer but I slept like a baby. Make sure you bring your own toiletries; I packed light, assuming that they would have little shampoo bottles. They only provide soap.
The atmosphere is very warm, welcoming, and relaxed. After a long, crowded afternoon of shopping, it was heaven to walk down Fisher’s Alley to our peaceful little nest.
I love this place. New Hope is a long way from home and I went assuming that it was a one-​time visit. Now I really look forward to returning and staying longer. What a wonderful experience!

My husband and I stayed 3 nights in June to attend a wedding and celebrate our anniversary. We loved New Hope and our stay at Porches on the Towpath made it wonderful. I do not have a great array of B&B stays to compare it to. The pillows weren’t my favorite, there were some issues with cleanliness and part of the mixed fruit served with breakfast was canned.
Great points were the theme of décor, the use of the porch (our room opened to the upper deck), warmth and helpfulness of the owner, the location, access to the Towpath and the free parking. The breakfasts were filling, served hot and tasty. Coffee and tea are readily available. I would stay here again.

Terrific experience at a fun and beautiful B & B, This is only the 3^rd B & B I’ve been to and it is my favorite. The gardens are gorgeous and remind me of the amazing garden artwork in Mercer Mayer books (Mrs. Beggs and The Wizard in particular). The proprietor, John, was very attentive and made a delicious breakfast the next day.
I had a very cool room with a nautical theme which had a crow’s nest in it. I could have stayed here for a week as the bed and room were very comfortable. I hope to go back and take my wife sometime.
