Yale-New Haven Hospital Saint Raphael Campus

So appreciative of the professionalism and kindness of the staff at this hospital! They healed my body and touched my soul. A special shout out to the amazing nurses on E 312, Jaime, Marie, Jen and Susan!

Have been here for 3 days now by my mothers bedside in the MICU. I work in the medical field and have been in this environment in many hospitals. I have never seen the extraordinary consistency amongst a staff in my life. The excellence, professionalism, and kindness have been an inspiration. My whole family is grateful .
She was just transferred to another floor since she has stabilized. Thank you MICU.

This is the best campus for many reasons even though they are now a part of Yale Hospital they still remain the same as before, very attentive, caring team of people

This hospital has all the trappings of a «good» hospital. The religious pictures on the walls make you «feel like» you are somewhere that God’s work is being done, BUT:
1. Is it Godly to not brush patient’s teeth? And the toothbrushes are free of charge to the patient?
2. Is it Godly to not give patients pain medications for from 9:11 until 18:16 when the patient has a broken hip?
3. Is it Godly not to give them water during the shift and have the pitchers for water still wrapped up in the new plastic that they came in? And out of reach of the patient?
4. Is it Godly for the staff not introduce their new nurse to the patient and say: «That patient is sleeping at 7 am and I do not want to disturb them?» Hospitals are institutions and the day begins at 7 am. It is not the Hyatt where we hang «Do not disturb» signs
5. Is it Godly for another patient to disturb her sick neighbor who happens to be an older woman ALL night and have nothing done about it until the next day? This is why we have charge nurses so that the patient and patient’s family can appeal to someone «during» each shift and not have to spend 12 hours missing sleep or in agony because no one during the night shift cares to FIX THE PROBLEM of the disruptive neighbor?
6. Is it Godly to have a nurse’s aide roll their eyes at the nurse because the nurse expects all the patients teeth to be brushed and water to be handed out to everyone, except for patients who are NPO?
7. Is it Godly to have such a poor meal service for patients that they would rather not eat, than eat the food offered?
8. Is it Godly to have a patient loose her dentures and no one can account for them?
9. Is it Godly for the day shift nurse to come in and assume a patient who reports a pain level of ⁸⁄₁₀ in the morning when pain med could have been given hours ago?
10. Is it Godly to have a nurse give a report to the oncoming nurse at the station rather than at the patient’s bedside where the patient can be an integral part of their report and the new nurse’s assumption of them. This is like taking a child to daycare and not bringing them in the building and expecting the daycare to assume care of a child that is sitting in the car without having seen them?
11. Lastly is it Godly to fire a nurse for the nurse’s adamantly expressing the above expectations from her co-​workers?
Think about it! If your mother or child is the patient would you want their teeth to be brushed?
Would you want them to have pain medication if they had just broken their hip?
Would you want them to have lotion on their dry skin?
Would you want your loved one to have FRESH water nearby?
Would you want them to be informed of the plan for the day, or to not be «disturbed»?
Would you want them to be kept awake at night because someone brought their ghetto ways into the hospital and no one was there to protect and respect the patient’s normal sleep hours?
Would you want a nurse’s aide who rolled their eyes at your mother or child’s nurse because the nurse wanted the «aid» to «aid the patient»?
Would your want a meal service that was less than appetizing for your loved one?
Would you like to go out and replace dentures that your wife is too sick to have a new fitting for?
Would you like you loved one to have a pain level of ⁸⁄₁₀ and go thru hours of not receiving pain medication?
Would you like to entrust the care of your loved one to a nurse who did not care to go and meet them at the start of the shift when they were assuming the care of your loved one?

This was the setting for a very sad moment for our family but the ICU was very kind in our moment of sorrow.

Have always loved the convenience of St Raphael’s Hospital and it’s continuing support for my neighborhood. I hope that this doesn’t change now with the acquisition by Yale.

Incredible front line care. Dedicated and smart healthcare providers. Blessed to have this place nearby.

So I ended up in the ER here a few weeks ago, due to complications from surgery elsewhere. It was a great, great, great experience. I was in serious pain when I was brought in and they admitted me right away, to a private room – not a partition, an actual room with a TV and lots of space. The nurses were prompt, friendly and definitely knew what they were doing. The doctor made sure I knew everything that was going on with my testing, medications, etc. He didn’t even yell at me too much when I pulled out my laptop to get some work done on their guest WIFI… at least, until my dilaudid kicked in! Follow up care has been great as well.
All in all, I would definitely come here over Yale and other area ERs. Knowing what I know about the care within longer term patients… I wouldn’t hesitate to come here, either.

Extremely long (5 hour) wait in a nearly empty ER and not a doctor in sight — it appeared to there was one PA and one nurse working. Also the most expensive ER bill we’ve ever received for the least serious issue. It appears they upcharged and overcharged in every way possible. After about 10 phone calls I am still unable to speak with anyone who has knowledge about billing … each person tells me to call someone else. I will never return and strongly recommend looking elsewhere for ER services.

The nurses and doctors were very nice. It was a good hospital experience.

Great hospital where people are friendly and actually care. Best cardiac care around. Something about a small hospital makes it great. I feel like the patients get more individual and personal attention and the nursing staff is VERY impressive as well!
