I found this practice when I was expecting my first baby. I was excited to work with them because I liked that I would have access to both doctors and midwives and I liked their «family friendly» and natural birthing approach. I have to say I was very disappointed with my experience at the New Haven location. I ended up being told at my 8 week US appointment that I was going to be losing the baby because it hadn’t developed past 6 weeks. I was upset because I wasn’t given any warning at my 7 week appointment that this was a possibility so I was blindsided when the midwife walked into the exam room and said very bluntly that I was miscarrying (even though I had no bleeding or symptoms to make me think that). The two midwives that I worked with were very cold and unsupportive. They did not give any information and they weren’t able to answer questions that I had. I left feeling terrible because I wasn’t given any information so I felt at fault and like I did something wrong when the truth was that there was nothing I did or didn’t do and miscarriages are more common than you think. I followed up with a different doctor at another clinic in New Haven and she was much more supportive and informative. For my first pregnancy experience it was not what I expected — not just because of the loss but because of the cold and unsupportive people I had to work with who lacked kindness, tact, and information. Now I am pregnant again and I am searching for a different clinic because I don’t want to go back to such an awful group.

VERY DISAPPOINTED. I moved here from the area from Chicago and chose this practice because the physicians all seemed to have good reviews. However, at my first appointment I was told that I would NEVER see a physician and that I would only be seeing a midwife (unless a medical issue arose that the midwife would not be able to handle). This was not what I was told when I schedule — I was told my 1^st appointment would be with the midwife and then I would rotate through the physicians (to be familiar with anyone who would deliver the baby). There was also no rotation schedule — I would be seeing the same midwife the entire time and I would be unlikely that she would be delivering the baby (they share on call times with County Group every other day, and there are 3 other midwives in this practice). When I got to the appointment, the midwife (Melissa) had not even looked at my chart until she got in the room with me (despite the fact that it had been there for 2 weeks) and gave very vague and unclear answers to my questions. After this appointment, I promptly decided to switch practices. On top of everything else, they refused to release my chart in its entirety — they would only release my information from the one visit with them (which they said would take 1 – 2 weeks). Thank goodness my OB/​GYN from the Chicago area was amazing — they faxed the info right away to the new practice.
