Anthony’s Ocean View

In the past I have attended events at this restaurant with enormous success. It is beautifully decorated and the grounds are spectacular. This time I had need of their catering services.
Brian assisted me with ordering, on very short notice, with food for a family who had just experienced a death. People were gathering from out of state and the family had limited time to cook for 15+ people. Brian catered to me, as well as the food which was excellent. Unfortunately, I had to move up the pick up time on even shorter notice and Brian made the experience seamless. Kudos to all the staff and especially
to Brian.

From the planning to the end of the reception I can only say great things about this venue. Besides the beautiful setting on the water and a ceremony on the beach, the food, the staff and the entire event was a wonderful night of celebration and fun that we will never forget. A 6 star rating goes to Alberto, the event coordinator at Anthony’s, who made the planning so easy and perfect.

Obsessed! We attended a wedding here and the view is amazing!!! You feel like you’re at a little cearribiean get away. Honestly best wedding I’ve been to in years, great food great staff. But it’s the view and the decors that you really can’t beat!

It is hard to believe you are in Connecticut when you come to Anthony’s Ocean View. This venue is located right on the water front offering a gorgeous view of the boats and the horizon. The venue is beautiful and has a relaxing outdoor patio space for exterior events. The palm trees are the reason why I say its hard to believe you are in Connecticut, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a palm tree north of South Carolina, but hey, you can definitely find some here. The event I attended today was out on the patio with a nice steel drum band. Had it been a bit sunnier I could’ve closed my eyes and definitely pretended I was in the Bahamas. The food served was really good. We had a wide variety of choices between the appetizers, seafood, burgers and hot dogs and ice cream for dessert. I heard the contracts for this place begin at a 100 person minimum even if you have less than that amount of attendees. It was a shame to see so much food basically thrown away when there was only about 40 of us. However, the place had ample parking and would definitely be a great special event venue.

The venue was great, the food was great and the beach atmosphere wonderful. However, the wait staff was not the best. Plates were cleared before one was even finished, wine glasses, still half full, were whisked away, chairs were removed, tables dismantled, and even walls broken down before guests, still on the dance floor, could even remove their personal belongings!! from the backs of chairs. Strangely enough I had a very expensive camera DISAPPEAR from the back of my chair… To add insult to injury the lack off assistance in helping me find the camera was inexcusable… I firmly believe a member of the waitstaff Helped Themself to my camera and my irreplaceable pictures… The manager Mr Furnari addressed my complaint by telling me he would be happy to send me a copy of the contract the bride and groom sign saying Anthony’s is NOT responsible for personal items lost/​stolen at their facility! Customer Service Lousy… Don’t leave Any Personal Belongings Unattended… Unfortunately I would not recommend this venue due to all of the above and Better Business Bureau has been notified. So violated !

I was a wedding guest and was disappointed in the wait staff. One literally pushed me out of his way as I was taking a picture of the bride and groom dancing. It was the first dance and the dj invited everyone up to circle around them. He never tapped me on the shoulder or said excuse me. If that wasn’t enough, they passed entrees in front of us instead of behind and to the side as any one else would do. They treated us like nuances instead of patrons and possible customers. The bar tenders were great, though and the food fabulous. But if I were the manager/​owner, I’d definitely take a look at my waitstaff and seek some sort of training. Also, I learned that they do not have taste testings for potential couples looking for a nice venue for their wedding! As a professional bridal consultant, I advise against anyone using a venue who does this. Like I said the food was great, but still not an over all good practice.

I’ve assisted with planning end of the year celebrations at my place of employment, and we have had it at Anthony’s for two years in a row because the price, location, service, and food have been superb. For both years, we booked the «clam bake» outside in the garden (Lily Room) which is immaculately manicured with a gazebo, and access to the beach where the view itself was amazing. Unfortunately we were unable to have the party outside during the first year because of threats of thunderstorms. However, I’ve been quite impressed that the staff wait to confirm the weather about an hour before the event before they set up (inside or outside). During both parties, the food was excellent with an array of appetizers, fresh seafood, grilled burgers and hotdogs and lots of Italian pastries and fruits for dessert. Having our end of the year celebrations at Anthony has impressed all of our staff because everything was impeccable from start to finish.

I couldn’t have asked for a better wedding experience.
My husband and I just got married there two weeks ago, and from the day we took a look at the place to our wedding day, the staff was extraordinary.
The day of the wedding, we were ushered into the bridal suite and immediately offered anything we could possibly need or want. My husband wanted a brand of beer that they didn’t have on hand, but before he could even say he’d take a different kind, they’d found the beer at a different room’s bar and handed it to him.
We had the ceremony outside on the patio in front of a beautiful small pond and waterfall. Beautiful and intimate. We absolutely loved the space.
When we wanted to take pictures on the beach after the ceremony, the banquet manager and an assistant carried my train, my flowers, and my shoes at various times for various reasons. They constantly made sure my husband and I had enough to eat and drink. I feel like they could read our minds and anticipate what we needed before we even knew ourselves.
They also worked beautifully with the florist, DJ, photographers, and videographer. Everything was seamless – you can tell they take their jobs extremely seriously.
My husband and I didn’t eat much because we were a ball of nerves that day, but from the leftovers we ate the morning after and from feedback from our guests, the food was amazing. I had stuffed sole and roasted vegetables for breakfast the next morning, and it was absolutely delicious.
Our reception room was lovely and had an entire wall of windows that looked out onto the harbor.
I can’t say enough good things about Anthony’s. I even have my sister and her fiancé convinced that they will have their wedding there now! I am hoping we’ll attend some weddings or other events there in the future, because I would love to go back any time!

Staff is on the ball, the food buffet style is actually not that bad. The parking lot should be bigger — when there are two events going on there is nowhere to park.

I attended a small wedding here (also my senior prom years ago but thats another story) recently and loved a few things about this venue
The good :
— Beach location was very nice even though there were not enough seats for everyone to watch, some of us stood on the deck.
— Outdoor cocktail hour was beautiful, the outdoors were well maintained and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
— Drinks were good, and bartender was friendly
— The view out of the upstairs room was beautiful with the large windows
— Dessert buffet was awesome as well as these mini chocolate shot cups with lots of liquors to choose from, SO GOOD!
The bad :
— The food was very meh, nothing really to it and it wasn’t particularly warm (buffet)
— The cocktail hour food was horrible, stuffed breads and cheeses and crackers none of it really did anything for me

Went to a wedding here back in June in the upstairs hall and it was quite nice. Also rang in the New Year there last night at their public party downstairs. I prefer downstairs actually. Last night there were 600 people, but it didn’t feel overcrowded. About $ 200 a couple. Open bar for 6 hours. Cocktail hour and a sit down dinner. Many bars were open so lines were minimal. The filet mignon, damn that steak was most likely the best steak of my life thus far.

Went to a wedding recently and it’s very impressive. You feel like you’re in a 1000% more exotic location than you actually are.
The staff was very nice, the location beautiful. The wedding was on the beach and the backdrop was the water with a bunch of boats floating serenely.
The wedding package my friends got was incredible. Huge assortment of delicious appetizers outside as the cocktail hour, and then the most enormous buffet for dinner I’ve seen, and a HUGE HUGE dessert buffet after. I wish I could have gotten stomach enlargement surgery before, had I known.
Often with weddings, the food that is produced in large quantities isn’t so good, but this food was pretty darned good.

So we just went to a wedding here.
As we battled for a parking spot and looked out towards the beach, we thought… hmmm, not bad. Beautiful views from the sort of Silver Creek Valley Country Club looking building– boasting a large deck and welcoming, but not super informed, front desk staff. The biggest problems off the bat were that several wedding were happening at once, creating a bit of confusion and a crowded parking lot.
We found our way to «our wedding” — on the awesome deck and beautiful gazebo overlooking the private beach. Serving tables were set with flowers and champagne, rows of seats neatly lined in front of the gazebo… and guest huddles under the perimeter of umbrellas– because it started to rain.
A few lines into the ceremony and the sky opened up. The staff was amazing as they quickly hurried the entire bridal party and guests into the almost-​but-​not-​quite set up reception room. We squished together on the dance floor and finished the vows. Next issue: Tissue thin walls! Latin music blasted over the I-do’s. It was impossible to hear anything but the DJ next door. Kind of a bummer.
The food rocked. The staff was flexible. The bride had fun– despite the chaos. And rally, that is all that matters.

THIS WAS EXCEPTIONAL, IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD !!! The help that my husband and I received in booking and planning our wedding could have never been duplicated or better appriciated. The staff at Anthony’s took care of every need we could ever have imagined and provided everything and more for us and our guests on our wedding day. The food was AMAZING and we got complimens from each and every guest about how amazing it was. They have a GORGEOUS garden where we mingled with guests and had our cocktail hour and also took some pictures. They also have private access to a beach, where we were able to take some wonderful pictures at sunset. We were there a bit early for our reception, but within ¹⁰⁄₁₅ min everything was set up for us.
There was a time when I was just tired from running around from table to table and the head waiter came to me and asked if I needed anything, I told him all I wanted was a glass of water… and within 30 seconds he was handing me the glass. That’s the kind of service Anthony’s offers and then-​some.
I can’t wait to go back there for another function, actually looking for an excuse ;-)
