Allegra Design Print Mail

Allegra was an absolute pleasure to do business with. I had them create my wedding invitations and thank you cards. The graphic designer’s work was impeccable and she came up with amazing ideas for our special day. I would highly recommend Bob and staff for any future printing needs. Awesome!

I really wanted these guys to be good. The first job they did was excellent and the woman I dealt with was so friendly and efficient (where did she go?)… but… things went swiftly downhill. My second job wasn’t done when it was promised — «I didn’t manage to get to it» was what I was told when i came to pick it up. The next job was done, but lost, and I had to wait while they did it again.
Today I went in to get some simple documents scanned… «but I don’t know how to do it!» the woman behind the desk tells me looking lost and confused. «Is there someone who does?» I ask… «yes, but they’re busy» she tells me, «can you come back for it in an hour?». I ask her to check if it will actually be ready in an hour (which she does begrudgingly). She comes back — «it looks like you’ll have to come back tomorrow» she says. «What time?» I ask. She looks at the clock «afternoon?» she asks with a your-​guess-​is-​as-​good-​as-​mine look. I leave.
I live in New Haven and run a business that needs lots of printing. I so wanted to give these guys my business but they have proved completely unreliable. It kills me to go to the Kinkos of the world when local businesses need local support… but I can’t run my business effectively when I use Allegra.

Allegra is a great example of how a small business in America should be run. Seriously, some politician seeking election ought to feature this place in his campaign. Joe the Plumber, meet Bob from Allegra.
I had ordered a few hundred placards, name tag holders, and delegate guides for a conference. Allegra was able to fill our orders within a week of us sending them our designs, which was quite impressive.
When I went to pick up our materials, I chatted with Bob, the owner. After a bit, he started rambling about something and I began to lose interest, until I realized what he was saying was actually super cool. President Obama was in town, due to give a speech in Bridgeport, and his presidential limo aka Cadillac One aka The Beast was parked across the street at the New Haven Fire Department! Bob took me outside to see it and even gave me a few high-​quality prints from some photos he had taken of it.
After we were both done being excited over the limo, Bob said that he noticed that I had taken a taxi to Allegra and offered to drive me and the stuff I had ordered back to my apartment to save me a return taxi fare, an offer that I gratefully accepted. How’s that for customer service?

They are friendly, competent, and fast.
Just to give an example of their excellent customer service: I sent them posters to print with the wrong dates. When I realized it, it was too late. They printed sticky labels to put on. It was their suggestion and they did it for free!
They also give Yale student groups 25% off!
