History
Established in 1932.
In 1932, Russel B. Updegraff began to practice law in the back of his father’s grocery store at 10th and Bridge Streets in New Cumberland. In 1941, Mr. Updegraff bought the building formerly occupied by the New Cumberland Trust Company and moved his law office there. He practiced as a sole practitioner until 1950 when he was joined in the practice by Clinton R. Weidner, who had been practicing law in Carlisle.
In 1957 Updegraff and Weidner became Updegraff, Weidner and Stone, when Charles H. Stone left the Office of the Attorney General and joined the practice. After the death of Russel B. Updegraff in 1963 and the elevation of Clinton R. Weidner to the Common Pleas Bench in 1965, Gerald T. Sajer and Charles H. Stone practiced together until Mr. Sajer became Adjutant General of Pennsylvania in 1987.
David H. Stone joined the practice in 1984, Gerald J. Shekletski in 1990, and Jon F. LaFaver in 1993. The firm is now known as Stone, LaFaver and Shekletski.

Business Owner
David H. Stone was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and has lived most of his life in New Cumberland. He graduated from Cedar Cliff High School in 1975, Princeton University in 1979, and New York Law School (Cum Laude) in 1983. He was admitted to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania in 1983. After a one-year clerkship with James Crumlish, the President Judge of the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania, he joined his father in the general practice of law. Today, his practice focuses on real estate transactions, estate planning and administration, and small business matters. His career has been dedicated to helping people with real, every day problems such as buying or refinancing a house, writing wills and powers of attorney, and helping executors handle estates. He has enjoyed working in a small, family oriented firm. Many of his clients have been friends for years. Mr. Stone is the Past President of the Estate Planning Council of Central Pennsylvania.
