History
Established in 1977.
Although born and raised in Delaware, Don Holcomb started the company in 1976 performing framing and siding in Colorado. He moved back to Delaware to start his family in 1982. A year later he incorporated in Delaware and began building 100 homes/yr for the big builders, performing all the rough framing, decks, trim and cabinetry for their projects. During the same time frame, he completely designed and built 5 – 6 custom homes until 1990 when he decided to specifically focus on kitchens.
In 1990, Don opened up Holcomb Kitchens averaging 40 custom kitchens per year. Over the next 20+ years Holcomb developed an exceptional reputation in the Wilmington area.
In 2012, Holcomb Cabinetry moved back into Claymont with a new emphasis, focusing specifically on design and supply of a wide variety of cabinets, vanities and like products at wholesale prices to home owners and contractors alike. Presently, Holcomb Cabinetry can design projects of any size with prices that can beat the box stores.
Meet the Manager
Don and Daryl H.
Manager
Daryl has been on the job sites since he was 6 yrs old. Following his father around, he quickly became comfortable in the construction site environment. Not until high school did Daryl officially started working for the company. During that time he was put in charge of simple tasks such as maintaining a clean showroom, running supplies to job sites and often serving as a conduit between the on-site foreman and Don, the owner. He also worked as a general laborer assisting the workers and craftsman when the situation arose. In 2001, Daryl went to college earning a Division 1 athletic scholarship for his achievements in baseball. At the University of Rhode Island, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. While his degree was in accounting, Daryl intentionally took economic classes with the intention of understanding localized markets. He has spent the last 5 yrs helping Don devise a business model that would better position Holcomb Cabinetry to serve the local community.
