Camp Easter Seals UCP is an overnight camp for people with disabilities as well as a retreat center for all. Our camps serve children and adults with intellectual and physical disabilities. Located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains our campers come to be amongst nature, swim, canoe, horseback ride, fish, make crafts, and more! Campers come from all over Virginia, North Carolina, DC, and West Virginia to attend camp.
Rental groups consist of church retreats, reunions, weddings, and more. Enjoy a nice evening by the fire, utilize one of our meeting rooms, listen to our babbling creek all while staying in a dorm, cabin, or tent. Camp activities such as team building, hiking, canoeing, and more are available along with meal service.
History

The Story of Camp Easter Seals UCP
Easter Seals UCP (United Cerebral Palsy) Virginia has long been committed to including camping as an integral part of its services to persons with disabilities. In its second year of operation, 1945, Easter Seals offered an 8-week summer camp/speech therapy clinic at «The Pines» in Berkley Springs, West Virginia. In 1950, this program was moved to the Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville, Virginia, and was co-sponsored by the University of Virginia. In 1953, the program moved to the University of Virginia Campus.
In 1955, the first Camp Easter Seals in Virginia was operated for two weeks at Nimrod Hall in Bath County. These rented facilities were used again in 1956, but this site posed architectural and natural barrier problems for participants with physical disabilities. Thus, a search was begun for a suitable site for a permanent Camp Easter Seals.

Alexander B.
Manager
Alex has 15 summers of experience working at Easter Seals camps where he has served as a camp counselor, head counselor, sports specialist, lifeguard, programs’ director, assistant camp director, and camp director. Since completing his Masters in Recreation and Recreation Therapy in May of 2007 he has been working full time for Camp Easter Seals UCP.
