Specialties
StayingPut in New Canaan is a non-profit volunteer-supported organization dedicated to giving our sneiors the practical means and social support to their lives to the fullest, safely and confidently, in the New Canaan community.
History
Established in 2008.
SPNC was established through a grassroots effort of local seniors who recognized the value of the kind of services offered in the «village model» of Beacon Hill Village in Boston for «aging in place.» There was almost two years of planning to establish the appropriate services, get community support, market and fundraise, establish a Board and hire a director. Currently, we have over 300 members (230+ households) who pay annual dues to participate in our 6 – 8 monthly events and programs, access our vetted professionals or get services from over 120 volunteers for small handiman requests, transportation, tech support, errands, home safety, or home health support. We respond to over 2000 requests last year, over half of which are rides. (About 10% of our members are special members who pay $ 100 or less to belong because of their financial limitations.)
