Beach Combers Vacation Rentals

Where to begin… I was looking for a home to rent for a girls weekend away to do the winery tour thing. I found a super cute house on VRBO that was managed by beach combers. I had no problem reaching someone to book the property and take my payment info down initially. I guess the lack of organization started early on… first I noticed that the check-​in and out dates on my contract were wrong but I called and was assured that my dates were fine and that everything was ready for check in, etc… Also, I was told n the phone and in writing that usually they collect a $ 500 security deposit but since it was the off season that they would just hold my credit card info and charge only if necessary, as in after the property was inspected following our departure. However about 2 weeks before our check in I noticed that my credt card was charged $ 500 (in addition to the full rental amount that was already paid). So I called and got no answer so I sent an email which was responded to right away assuring me that they would look into right away. We checked into the home as planned and the house was beautiful, almost everything was perfect… our only complication was that the cleaning lady showed up at 10:30 am even though I was told that we could have until noon central time to check out. Whatever. The icing on the cake was when I checked my accounts on my way home and noticed that I was charged ANOTHER $ 500 just a few days before checking into the property. So I emailed «Venessa» right away and received a reply right away stating that she would look into and get back to me the next day (Monday). Well that was 3 days ago and I have left countless voice-​mails and sent multiple emails to no avail. I will dispute the unauthorized charges with my credit card company and never book through them again. BEWARE.

Very sad situation. This weekend we were floored to learn that Beach Combers Vacation Rentals is not able to pay us rents due from this summer
If anyone else is in a similar situation, please message me. I have heard from a few owners and story is the same. We are discussing next steps.

This is an update to my earlier review. After being contacted by Beach Combers I have a better understanding as to what happen to my reservation. It appears the owners of the vacation rental had rented the house without letting Beach Combers known. After I spoke with Beach Combers and expressed my feelings they contacted the owners directly and fixed the situation. They were very proactive and helpful in fixing a situation that was out of their hands. I will be leaving today for the vacation rental. I am very pleased and would recommend Beach Comber Vacation Rentals for anyone looking for a place in New Buffalo or Union Pier, MI.
