I delivered my beautiful baby on 08⁄18 at this hospital. The nurse who helped me deliver was Nancy. She was fantastic and I can’t say enough good things to show my gratitude. She was kind, caring, patient, etc. As a first time mom with no other female relatives there to help me she really took on the role of a mom for me(my husband was there and he was great but again as first time parents we did not know what to expect). My baby’s umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck so doctors from NICU arrived before she made her appearance to check on her. Again, Nancy was superb and I hope I am blessed with someone like her during future pregnancies. I am definitely going back to RWJ. The nurses that we had postpartum were also fantastic(especially Erika and Carissa). I would highly recommend this hospital to anyone having a baby.

I was here not as a patient, but as a parent as my daughter was in need of some rather complex surgery. From the front desk to the nursing staff to the physicians, I have to say that I was thoroughly impressed at how well they worked and how much empathy they showed to patients and their families. I’m no novice. I’ve been in healthcare for 25 years both on the hospital and the insurer side, and I know what’s supposed to happen and how people are supposed to act. Someone should video these people and show it to other hospitals – even other units in the wider RWJ system – because they are terrific. After the surgery the surgeon(Dr. Balica) sat with us, put us at ease, and took his time explaining everything. Excellent«bedside manner» as they say, and he even gave us a glimpse into the process he took so we – and our daughter – would know what to expect. But, the nursing staff(particularly Melissa who my daughter describes as «Nurse of the Year») was superb. The pre-op procedure was thorough, with constant cross-checking and good tools to track how close they were to a «GO» for surgery. When complications arose after the operation, the nurses were professional, but very good at not ramping up the emotional level. Even the discharge process was clear and thorough, and most don’t realize that the discharge process can make the difference between successfully transferring home or finding yourself back in the ED a few days – or hours – later. Nothing was left to chance and we left there feeling confident. If I could give them more than five stars, I would.
