History

Established in 2013.

Café Beauregard, named in honor of the Chef’s mother, Marie Beauregard, opened at 2 Main Street, New Britain, in December, 2013. Chef Rob credits his mother, a woman of French descent, for sparking his love of food and cooking when he was very young. Rob was 5 when he knew he wanted to spend his life cooking for others. A graduate of the Culinary institute of America, where his ready mastery of the most complex lessons earned him faculty-wide respect, Chef Rob has cooked in the finest restaurants in America, and he and his cooking have been featured in Bön Appetit magazine.

Rob moved to New Britain with his new wife, Alice, in 2012, and before long he «unretired» and was fully focussed on creating a comfortable, informal, spot where «regular people» (like himself and his family) could readily find «outstanding food”(best quality, freshest, unique) at truly «fair prices». And so, Café Beauregard was born.

Business Owner

Chef Rob, a Connecticut native, is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, received a B.A. from the University of Denver, magna cum laude, phi beta kappa, and a M.A. from the University of Minnesota. A classically trained french chef comfortable in the best kitchens in the world, he has travelled to France several times to study French cuisine, wine, culture, art, and language.
