Nystrom and Associates

I followed my provider here and went to the Eden Prairie location. My provider left and I was forced to see a different dr. I can honestly say I have never been treated so poorly in my life. After almost 8 years I finally found a med that worked. I went in for my follow up appt. I was astonished she asked me to submit a drug test, re-​test for a condition I have been receiving treatment for for nearly a decade and told me she wouldn’t prescribe it as per their policy. News to me, I had been going there for 6 mo already! I was out of my medication and with my insurance I would have had to pay out of pocket for these tests. I am not a child, I take my meds as intended, and DO NOT appreciate being treated like a non-​human. DO NOT GO HERE! There are many clinics that treat their patients with dignity and respect, this isn’t one of them.

In short, you can probably do better. I will give a list of pros and cons Ive experienced over the last 6 years with NAL.
Pros:
1.)There are a few Doctors, CNPs, and therapists here that are unbelievably knowledgeable and dedicated. One in particular did more for me in 6months than everyone else put together for the previous 14 years of treatment.
2.)Certain staff members are incredibly helpful and very personable. They will devote as much time as needed to get to the bottom of something.
Cons:
1.) You WILL fall through the beaurocratic cracks repeatedly and wind up without medication and without your Rx.
2.) ZERO after-​hours care ²⁴⁄₇ nurseline. No way to get an emergency message to your provider. They say you should go to the ER. For those of us with unbelievably high ER rates, courtesy of forced obamacare, you are forced to make the decision between a $ 1000 visit where they dont do anything for you, and coming down with Malignant Neuroleptic Serotonin Syndrome.
3.)Also, if you have signs of this serious syndrome repeatedly on certain medications, despite your formal diagnosis, they will tell you that you are wrong and must be hallucinating and schizophrenic. Even if you’ve never had a single psychotic episode or tendency in your life.
4.)Some pathetic excuses for doctors will reject your entire case history and every single thing you’ve ever said and give you the diagnosis and treatment they want you to have. Not what you actually have and need. E.g. ive had crippling major depressive disorder since age 9. It has never changed and has been resistant to nearly all medications. Name it, ive been on it. My SINGLE episode of paranoia or hallucination occured when I was put on Abilify. It showed up almost immediately and disappeared after stopping. Despite this, the doctor was determined that I be schizophrenic. Im not. Not at all. I just struggle with unflagging extreme depression.
5.)Doctors will cancel on you up to 7 times in a row and you wont know until you’re driving there. In the same hand they will offer you ZERO mercy or understanding if you have to cancel because you got called in to work. They expect sympathy and flexibility but will not return the favor.
6.) Today I found out they will no longer accept me as a patient. They should have told me IN ANY FORM VIA PHONE OR LETTER that this was the case over 9 months ago instead of waiting till I have no refills left. They cited absenteeism as their reasoning but I do not know how that could be accurate since I have not been there, or scheduled appts with them, in nearly a year. Over the last several days they and my previous doctor there have given me and my pharmacy very conflicting information/​instructions. They could not give an adequate explanation as to why I was being dropped with no warning because of their poor record-​keeping in my file (which I suspect errors contained therein is the real reason they’re dropping me). They acknowledged their failures in this area and admitted to giving me false and error-​laden information regarding my status there as a patient over the last 9 months. They also admitted that they failed to issue me any warnings and failed to reach out to contact me about any issues they were experiencing. They did not follow company and medical protocol. All this to say, they put me in an emergency situation where I have to find a new provider asap when I could have made an intake appt elsewhere months ago before running out of refills.
To sum it all up:
You MAY get a good doctor. According to my math (please bear with me) I estimate your chances are roughly 33%. But, you WILL experience problems and on occasion you WILL be treated with a surprising amount of hostility (with no attempts at veiling it).
I only gave 2 stars because I was finally able to find a good medication during my time here. If it wasn’t for that, my review would be –1.

Great providers, who care and honestly help their clients. Several locations that cover the Twin Cities metro.

Been going here for years & am pretty satisfied w/​my current provider-​who is presently out on leave.
Long story short-​I needed to see a provider ASAP. Well it’s been 2 days since I called-​apparently they need to consult w/​someone before they can determine if I need to be seen or not.
You don’t have to be a expert in mental illness to know how important timely treatment is-​I think it’s common knowledge. Especially when someone explains to you why it’s so important.
Thanks for providing excellent treatment Nystrom-I’ll be sure to recommend you to no one.

Nystrom’s «quality assurance department» recently called me to «follow up on some complaints I’d made» about their service. So, um, hey guys! Three things:
1) Dude, you’re not Comcast. You’re a med management clinic. If you need a quality assurance department, clearly you are doing something wrong.
2) It’s pretty creepy that you’d stalk my Unilocal review, figure out my full name, and cross-​reference that with your computer database to find my phone number.
3) It’s terribly depressing that I have to explicitly say this, but my mental health diagnoses have nothing to do with my frustration here. This is not, like, some weird borderline personality rage tantrum. You just legitimately suck.

I was court ordered to get a rule 25 chemical evaluation. So I tried to find a place near by so it would be convenient. When this was completed I needed this information faxed to the county. Not only did the «therapist”(what a joke) tell me that even though she didn’t think I had a problem, she HAD to assign me AA, NA, or ANY group therapy since I was ordered there by a judge. Fine whatever, but then they failed to give me copies of the paperwork after repeated requests I finally had to go back to the location. Also to date they never faxed the information to the county again despite my calling 5 or 6 times and requesting they do. Stay away from this place, as if they are completely incompetent.
