History

Established in 1985.

Central Texas Allergy and Asthma was started by Frank C. Hampel, Jr., M.D. in 1985 to serve both New Braunfels and San Antonio. Priyanka Gupta, M.D. joined Dr. Hampel and the practice in early 2008. Dr. Gupta treats various allergic diseases including seasonal and year round allergies, asthma, hives, food allergies, insect allergies, sinus disease, anaphylaxis and others. Our staff is comprised of individuals who are helpful, friendly and well trained. Some of our staff members have been with us for 20 years. Our practice focuses on maintaining an environment that is geared towards the most up to date medical care, compassion, and consideration of patient needs. Dr. Gupta strives to develop long term relationships and uniquely designed treatment for each patient.

Business Owner

Dr. Gupta spent her entire childhood and young adulthood in Michigan. Her father, grandfather, and great-​grandfather were all physicians;​therefore being around patients and medical office was a common part of her upbringing. Dr. Gupta received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She attended Michigan State Medical School in East Lansing for four years where she received her M.D. degree. At a medical convention in Dallas during her medical school years, Dr. Gupta met her future husband, Dr. Jatin Patel. They married and moved to Houston for their residencies. Dr. Gupta did her three year Internal Medicine residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Over the next two years, Dr. Gupta attended Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago for her Allergy-​Immunology fellowship. Her husband concurrently was at Northwestern doing a Pediatric Cardiology fellowship. In 2004 Dr. Gupta, along with her family, moved to San Antonio a
