Fairfield Inn & Suites

My husband went here while we were up for a wedding. The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean. They were on the small side– we asked for a cot and it just fit next to the bed.
They do have free wifi and complimentary breakfast which is always nice!
The hotel is located a block away from the water– you can take a walk and enjoy the view of the boats!

This is a very clean hotel with a professional and accommodating staff. It is not the quietest of hotels– it’s located at the base of a traffic light at the beginning of a speedway (lots of traffic noise) and also uses THE loudest door mechanisms for the guest rooms– there is no quiet way to open or close these doors… just varying levels of slamming. We stayed here for a wedding for 2-​nights, there were 5 weddings that this hotel was accommodating on this particular weekend. We encountered 2 issues while staying here that the staff handled seamlessly.
First we were traveling with a toddler, the first night of our stay we were kept up late by the slamming of the door next to us. The next morning we learned that this was a suite that was being used for a bridal party to get their hair and make-​up done. We asked to please be moved to a quieter area of the hotel and the front desk got back to us within minutes with a new room, keys and bell hop cart to move. The new room was much quieter that night without doors slamming.
The second issue we had was 12am the second night, we woke to our room reeking of cigarette smoke (this is a non smoking hotel). I called down to the front desk and she immediately sent a security guard to find the perp and stop the smoking, which apparently happened bc the smell went away.
I also mentioned that it was clean, extremely clean-​both rooms. My toddler likes to take the plastic covers off the bolts of toilets, which I don’t mind at home bc I know it’s clean. When he did it here I gasped in horror over what might be on or in those caps and in both rooms, no hairs, dried yellow liquid or dirt on them– they were spotless– thank god! Same goes for the bed linens and towels, all white, crisp and clean.
We also had the free breakfast on a Saturday and there were a ton of people– a ton! I was impressed to see numerous hotel employees hustling, restocking and cleaning the breakfast bar area as fast as people were mobbing it.
Overall this is a great hotel for the $$ and I recommend it for weekly business travel and if you are a heavy sleeper you will be fine on the weekends. I think bc it is the only new hotel in the area it gets mobbed during the weekends for events and bc of that you have to put up with all that comes with it… wedding guests smoking in a non-​smoking hotel, wedding guests drinking too much and slamming doors, wedding guests passing out in hallways– these things can’t be helped and I thought the staff handled everything the best they could and were very accommodating.

Stayed here for two nights for a wedding in Mattapoisett, MA. It was just okay.
Check in was easy and quick. We were in room 423 with a ‘harbor view’. Not the best view (fishing boats aren’t the prettiest things to look at) but yes it technically is of the harbor.
We noticed immediately that our room had a old musty smell. It was overwhelming at times, perhaps it was from the ocean? not sure. Our headboard had a stain on it as well as the curtains (pictured). ick. (minus one star). No mini-​fridge or microwave either.
Also, there was no full length mirror. When you are attending an event a full length mirror is more important than you’d think… (minus one star).
Plenty of parking. They give you a parking pass for your car.
I guess I just can’t believe we had to pay $ 194 a night, and this is with a discounted ‘wedding block’. absolute robbery. I wouldn’t pay over $ 120 a night for this place. (minus one star).

Very Clean. Very New. Beautiful. But very Loud. You can hear the highway cars speed by. The doors don’t have an anti slam hinge so you hear the hotel and bathroom doors slam shut. You can hear the person next door shower.

Great spot at the waters edge and close to everything in downtown New Bedford. While it is a chain, they took the time and money to make sure that this place was done correctly. There is a fire pit outside (yet I have never seen it on). A huge pool and a pretty well stocked gym. The breakfast changes a lot of the options and the fact that they have fresh fruit is a plus.
Free parking on premise and the ability to walk to many of the bars downtown is a huge plus. The rooms are typical size, with good water pressure and overall feeling of everything being pretty clean.
The biggest knock on the property is how close it is to a major roadway and road noise can be heard depending on what jerk is driving down road.
One of the best places to stay in New Bedford, and overall a nicer property than the Hampton Inn in Fairhaven the town next door.

My bf’s mom stayed here whilst visiting my bf who lives in the area. We checked her in. Wow, serious ghetto experience upon check in. IWhilst waiting in line to check in, various sketchy characters were seen paying with wads of bills. Other people were drinking beer with six packs on the floor in the lobby. The receptionist had some attitude. Upstairs, clean rooms and bathrooms. Not sure what to say. maybe this is what to expect in New Bedford?

First time staying at the Fairfield Inn located right by New Bedford harbor. The hotel is very clean. The employees are friendly & helpful, including finding me a jump pack when my car died and offering towing help if I had any other issues. That alone will make me a repeat customer.
The room we stayed in was very clean and looked out over the frozen harbor. I imagine the area is bustling in the warmer weather. I bet it’s also considerably noisier but, hey, it’s a working fishing city! I’d love to come back then and take advantage of walking all around downtown. There are lots of great spots for breakfast, lunch, dinner & drinks within a mile but the –11 temps & monster snowbanks killed my wandering thoughts!
They serve the standard Fairfield breakfast with waffles, bagels, cereal, hard-​boiled eggs, yogurt, etc. Nice gym and pool area. They have vending machines on each floor & a basic convenience stop in the lobby. We’ll be back!

Newish business class hotel in the wharf area of New Bedford. So close to the ocean, there are fishing boats sitting at the dock that are close enough to easily walk to and seagulls flying overhead.
Upon arrival, I was initially assigned to a room on the second floor across from a noisy ice maker, so I asked to be moved. Then they gave me to a room down the hall. Although there is street noise during the day, there is virtually none after 8PM.
Helpful hint about the rooms here: The even numbered rooms look out onto the city, the odd numbered rooms have the ocean view.
I prepaid for the room online, but they insisted on swiping my credit card for incidental charges. Well, by the time I drove from VA from my aunts house to MA to visit my cousins on the same day, Chase turned off my credit card and I only found this out when I tried to gas up from the long drive then check in. I realize this was totally my fault. Disappointed, I swiped my ATM card, but once I contacted Chase to let them know I was on vacation, the hotel would not change the card I swiped from my ATM card to the Chase card.
They serve a great continental breakfast from 6−10AM. I didn’t want for anything for breakfast. I mean, I could have made myself strawberry topped waffles if I wanted them. I ate a bagel with mixed fruit spread, a half a plate of chopped melons and drank hot tea.
They have DirecTV and the local channels shown were from Rhode Island and found out from my cousins that this is the norm for local stations for the New Bedford area.

I don’t know why this is but given the surrounding area of New Bedford being very lackluster, this hotel was one of the best hotels, if not the best, I’ve ever stayed at. The lobby was CRAAAAZYYYYY the rooms and sheets were quality and the bathroom was spotless. I loved my stay here!

Stayed here this past weekend for a wedding. My experience was fine, however my friend (who was the 1 getting married) did not have a good experience and I felt compelled to write about it.
I think the wedding rate we got was $ 159 a night, which was reasonable. The hotel is only 4 yrs old, so aesthetically, everything is decently nice and new. Good location, with a nice restaurant right across the street.
Housekeeping was very friendly and did a nice job with the rooms.
The free breakfast was a great spread, but get down before 8, or wait in a long line of scavengers!
Now for the bad: After the wedding, my friends (bride and groom) were going back to their suite when they heard via family members that the groom’s aunt got a key to their room from the front desk, and was going to play a joke on them by «trashing the room.“When the groom heard this, he immediately contacted the front desk to have them de activate the room keys and issue new ones. They did this, but then they were unable to get into the room with their new keys. It was 230 am, after a long day, and the newly married couple just wanted to get in their room. They were locked out of the room for more than an hour, the master key for the hotel couldn’t even unlock it. The hotel had to have a locksmith come and drill a hole in the wall, so they could unlock the door. On top of this, they suggested they stay in another room that night. At 230 am, after a long day, the last thing they wanted to do was move ALL of their stuff to another room, so they just stayed there, even though the door wouldn’t lock. The GM of the hotel made things right by giving them their stay for free, but under no circumstances should front desk staff be giving ANYONE a key to someone else’s room. Their defense was, they knew the room # and name of guest, so it was OK. That is no excuse and being someone who stays in hotels a lot for work, it scares me that a hotel would issue a key to anyone as long as they gave a room # and name of guest. BEWARE

Excellent over all! Clean, modern, new, and one of the best budget hotels I have stayed in for a while. Loved the friendly staff upon check-​in and check out, the room was clean and the bed comfortable, nice pillows and TVs are HD. Only spent the night on the way to a meeting. I’ll be back when I can stay longer and take in the sites!

First time staying in New Bedford. Nice clean room. Comfy bed & outstanding view of the harbor. The complimentary breakfast had something for everyone. Staff was very friendly. I will certainly stay at this hotel again should I find myself in the area.

Lovely addition to downtown New Bedford, I stayed for 2 nights when in town for the New Bedford Half Marathon on St. Patrick’s Day.
Front desk staff were friendly and it was an easy walk to everything in town.
Rooms were clean and everything still looked like new despite being a couple years old at this point.
Nice selection at breakfast — bagels, breads, pastries, 1 – 2 hot dishes, fruit, cereal, yogurt, etc. Never had a problem getting a spot to sit even on race morning.
My only complaint would be whatever they use to clean the carpets/​elevators — it left a funny chemical smell that permeated the air throughout the building.
Prices were right at about $ 120−140/night.

I stayed at the Inn with my wife and kids on New Years Eve. The staff was very friendly and very informative about New Bedford and the First Night events. They really went the extra mile to make guests fell welcomed. The hotel is fairly new, very clean and safe. Marriotts are great hotels, Fairfield Inn room are a little samller than a Courtyard or Renaissance but the hotel is a great value. Nice clean pool, conference center as well. A great place for a business function or familiy stay. Great restaurants withing walking distance.

I stayed here this past weekend with my family and was SO happy with our experience. The hotel had an amazing deal going on for the half marathon and I am so glad we chose to stay here.
The rooms were beautiful, the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, and the hotel was within walking distance to numerous restaurants and the race start. Our king suite had a mini fridge and microwave, a huge bathroom, a king size bed, a queen size pullout couch, free internet and two large flat screen TVs. I couldn’t have been happier with the setup. We also received a complimentary breakfast in the morning complete with lots of pre-​race fuel!

Stayed there this past weekend with a large group and was quite impressed. The Fairfield Inn is Marriott’s lower-​priced chain (just below the Courtyard brand) and this was, without a doubt, the nicest Fairfield Inn I have ever stayed in. And this coming from someone who travels a lot.
Hotel has a «boutique-​y» feel to it with bright greens, oranges and browns. Rooms were decent sized with nice flat screen TV’s and excellent cable channel lineup, even included Mark Cuban’s HDNet cable network., ESPNU and 3 different HBO channels. The indoor pool and hot tub were small, but clean, quiet and relaxing nonetheless.
The free brekafast was a hit with the little ones as there was much to choose from including a waffle maker and a small refrigerator holding yogurt and those small sealed plastic containers of fruit. They even had a microwaveable single serving quiche, which I had never seen anywhere.
The breakfast area also doubles as a lounge during the day and night and there’s a nice large couch and flat screen TV to chill and watch the football/​baseball games at night.
It’s located right across the street from the pier/​wharf and is within walking distance of many restaurants on Union Street.6
A bit more pricey than most Fairfield Inn’s, but well worth it!

I just stayed at the brand new Fairfield Inn & Suites New Bedford located in downtown New Bedford overlooking the harbor. I was in town for a friend’s wedding and surprised to see how much the city has changed since I used to live there.
The Fairfield was gorgeous, super modern with a blue, green, and orange color scheme and the staff was young and friendly. Everything you could need was there including a free gym, pool, and the usual hotel amenities. Ladies will be happy to know there are hair dryers and curling irons in the room and businessmen will appreciate the irons and coffee makers. I wish there was a mini fridge to store leftovers for local dining however. There is a microwave in the Continental breakfast area in the lobby you can use whenever you need to. They even had a waffle maker at breakfast! The rooms are spacious and comfortable and even had a decent channel lineup on the flat screen televisions in each room.
There’s lots to do in the SoutCoast area and the Fairfield is super easy to get to/​from the highway and worth staying at.
