Taco Steve makes a mean burrito. I got pork verde and my husband got chorizo. They were both really good. I feel like no one in Kentuckiana serves good shredded pork so I am on my way to becoming a Taco Steve regular. I love the fresh jalapeño slices. Steve is a really nice guy. Can’t wait to go back!

Best taco ever! Fresh ingredients. Generous portions. Taco Steve does not disappoint. We tried both the pork and chicken tacos. The meats were perfectly spiced and prepared. The toppings were delicate and flavorful– fresh jalapeño and cilantro and crumbly queso fresco. There wasn’t a detail overlooked.

Taco Steve has the best tacos, tostadas and quesadillas. Also, he wears a cool paper hat.

This is one of those places you’d never, ever find w/o Unilocal!HOLEINTHEWALL — you walk through a bookstore to get to the counter where you order from a board of daily menu items. The place is clean, well kept, uses fresh ingredients & was delicious! My corn tortilla soft tacos were great. I liked that he used fresh sliced jalapeños. I ordered two $ 4 tacos and the servings were extremely ample. I loved the feel of the place, so homey. I did notice they appear to be accepting credit cards.

I don’t understand why this place doesn’t have a line out the door. The food is so flavorful and reasonably priced. As others have said, Taco Steve is a taco restaurant located inside of Destination Booksellers. They used to be a food cart so this is a significant upgrade. The menu is small but the items on it are clearly well thought out. I tried the chipotle chicken burrito and every bite was bursting with flavor. It was packed with high quality ingredients like shredded chicken, bean mash, jalapeños, cotija cheese, etc. The burrito was huge, it weighed at least a pound. I am definitely trying the tacos the next time I visit. I also bought a cream soda from Butchertown Soda. It was tasty and it’s awesome to see small businesses supporting each other instead of Pepsi Co or Coca Cola. My only tiny complaint is that the hours are a little strange so the first time I tried to stop by, on a Monday at dinnertime, they were closed. Stop in and try them, you won’t regret it.

I got the pork burrito, it was just ok ! I think next I will try the tacos! My friend ordered the chicken burrito and said it was a little dry !! The cashier showed up with a small baby hooked to the front of her, I thought was a little weird! Oh we also had the gaucomole and chips, here again it was just ok, I probably make better gauc at home. This being said, I do support local businesses, so I will try his tacos next time

Not bad at all. I was miserable(in a good way) walking out of there because of the portions you get for the price. Chipotle chicken tacos are awesome! Pork Verde burrito, awesome! Jones soda, delicious. Very unique atmosphere being in a book store. I’m sure Steve would like his own spot in the future but that’s nice and cozy for now.

Let’s be honest if you want Mexican, people will tell you to try authentic places but I will tell you now this guy makes authentic boring. Steve does it right whether it is tacos, nachos, guacamole, or burritos. Please check this guy out and I know you won’t regret it. Can’t wait for my next trip to New Albany.

This is just too cool. A taco place. Inside of a bookstore. Lemme tell you about it. Its like I walked into someone’s house and I’m like, «Hey, you’re making dinner, cool, I got here just in time.» and then in ten minutes I am presented with a hearty, well seasoned quesadilla packed FULL of amazing spicy shredded chicken, three cheeses, black bean mash all wrapped up and served with a delicious homemade pico to dip the slices of gooey goodness in. And that guac, wow, its smooth, fresh, and chocked full of finely chopped veggies. It was so good it made up for the bagged tortilla chips(they don’t currently have a fryer). And hey, why not crack open the fridge and toss me one of those $ 1 Jones Sodas? I loved it, I wanted to go simple this time, a quesadilla where I knew the ingredients well, but next time I’m definitely getting one of the burritos(Huge, btw) stuffed with Yukon potatoes, chorizo, cabbage, jalepenos, cotija and I’m pretty sure a million other things that I can’t remember. Just know, its in a book store, Destination Booksellers, and parking is in the back. Walk in through the bookstore, walk to the back and when you start finding cutting boards full of chopped tomatoes and fresh washed lettuce in bowls on counters, you’re there. I just can’t get over how cool it is. Its like someone’s house who just got done making dinner. And Jones Soda, come on, I’m sold. A couple more things to note, the menu changes often as Taco Steve likes to try new things AND they’re experimenting on finding a dessert that will keep fresh all day. The prices ranges from $ 4 for apps and $ 7 – 12 for entrees. Check out their Facebook for hours that are changed due to weather and new menu items! BYOB is perfectly fine with this guy, by the way. Very cool place, I highly recommend it. Get take out, or chill at a two top and grab a book(to buy, of course).
