New Albanian Brewing Company Pizzeria and Public House

Be prepared to wait! After hearing the reviews about the beer cheese and pizza we thought we’d check out the place with some friends. We arrived at 5:30, were seated at 6:15 and weren’t served our food until 7:40. Drink and app orders are taken upon seating and the turn around for drinks is immediate. This was nice, but having something to eat on while we waited for the food would have been even better. We ordered the bread sticks with beer cheese as a starter. It took about 30 mins to get to our table. The breadsticks were fresh and soft, the beer cheese was subpar… it tasted more like nacho cheese than beer cheese. We’ve definitely had better. For dinner my husband ordered the calzone with mushrooms, sausage and peppers and I ordered the open faced veg sandwich with a side salad-​no bacon. I was actually impressed by the salad! Fresh sliced mushrooms and a nice bed of greens, not your standard iceberg salad. My entrée on the other hand was the most bland meal I’ve ever consumed. There was literally no flavor to it whatsoever. I loaded it down with red pepper flakes and it was still meh. My husband’s calzone was basically all cheese with a touch of toppings.
To say the least, we were less than impressed and could find much better pizza/​brewery places in Louisville.

Today I found myself in the mood for pizza and wanted to try some place that would be new to me. So, made my first visit to the New Albanian Brewing Company Pizzeria and walked away very pleased.
We had one of their Signature Pizzas called the Herbivore. The friendly staff was willing to work with me since I’m highly allergic to mushrooms and instead substituted jalapeño peppers. We got the large, which is a 21 inch pie on thin crust so I have leftovers. Great taste to this pizza and the plenty of beer on tap. Growlers are welcome here for fill ups so be sure to bring yours along. They offer beer flights and samples to help you narrow down your selection.

Highly recommend the Hoptimus and the upside down pizza. Service was excellent too! We always come by when passing through, and will continue to do so. Cheese is burnt into the crust, and makes it extra criapy in all the right places.

I have been to NABC many times. Great beer selection. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Prices are decent.

Stopped by The NABC tonight for a birthday party. Being the first time, and Id heard how good the place was, I was excited to order up a beer and get some food in me.
Keep it pretty basic by ordering their Porter. I was pretty darn tasty. Smooth and it keep me wanting to order more. We also ordered some of the beer cheese and pretzels after reading other peoples reviews about how awesome it is. It didn’t let us down at all. It had a spiciness to it that was so good.
For the pizza we ordered it with artichokes, sun dried tomatoes and garlic. The pizza was one of the best I have had. It wasn’t that greasy and all the flavors melted together.
We will be back, and to try some more of their own beers!

As someone who grew up just outside of New York City, I have certainly been called a «pizza snob» many times, since moving away. What I like about this place is that it serves a delicious pizza that is not trying to be New York-​, Chicago– or (thankfully) «Louisville” — style pizza. There is nothing generic about any part of these pies, and they are really good, in all forms (though I am partial to the pan and «refrigerator» style crusts).
The beer selection is world-​class, and very fairly priced. And the ambiance in the Public House side is very cool and comfortable.
This place is very unique, and a true gem in the region.

The beer cheese was good, nothing special about frozen heated up pretzels. My 6 inch pizza came out with mushy crust but the outer crust had great flavor and the sauce was good. The pasta my coworker received looked good and he said it had good taste. We would probably return next time we are working in this area.

Great pizza and great service. Jeff, our server, was polite, quick, and very patient with our kids. Beer cheese is to die for! My only request is that they bring that cask ale in from Germany more often. European ales served flat is the way an ale is supposed to be served. Loved the place. I’ve been coming here since I was a young child. Back then this place was called Sportstime and no beer was being brewed. It has really evolved over the years and is one of the front runners for taking NA to the foodie town it is becoming today. As far as the food goes, the pizza is the best NA has to offer. It is a complete dive of a place and I hope it never changes.

I always had the misconceived idea that this was a snooty, linen table kind of place where the prices were steep, but I was wonderfully wrong.
We visited NABC last night (a Wednesday) at around 9:00PM and we were pleased to find that we could seat ourselves at one of the numerous tables and booths. We were immediately greeted by a very friendly and helpful waitress who let us know about the kind of beers that they had on tap and in bottles and some tips about the menu. They’ve got lots of different styles of pizzas in a huge variety of sizes and their toppings options are endless, so it can be a little overwhelming at first glance. Our waitress told us about all of the different styles and helped us choose the best combo of toppings that go with the crusts. She was really helpful!
To begin our meal my partner and I got the two soft salted pretzels and beer cheese for three bucks (seriously, only $ 3!) and they were great. That beer cheese is to die for, its a little spicy and the flavor is just so good with beer. I saved it to dip my crust in and it was awesome! I’ll be craving that until my next visit for sure. Logan and I decided to get our own pizzas on this trip, due to irreconcilable differences. I ordered the six inch with onions, green peppers, sausage and diced tomatoes and it was absolute ecstasy. Seriously, it was the best pizza I’ve had this year hands down! The crust was nice and thick, the rest of the bread was thin and crispy and the ingredients were backyard garden fresh. I even liked their sauce, and I am notoriously picky about sauces (not too sweet, not too thin). Also, the pizza was a steal, with all the ingredients and a generous serving of sauce and cheese, the pizza only came out to about $ 7.50. My partner got an 11 inch pizza with pepperoni and black olives and he loved it, he even saved half and took the rest for lunch today, and he does not eat leftovers often!
Their beer selection is seemingly endless, they have about ten of their own brews on tap at any given time, lots of guest taps and a huge selection of bottles. I was really impressed with all of the options to choose from. I’m new to the whole legal drinking age thing, so beers can be very hit or miss with me. I’d like to think I’m pretty well educated when it comes to brew and I was able to find a beer that fit my palette perfectly here, and that’s also thanks in part to our waitress. Turns out I really like sour red ales (well, they are pretty close to the flavors of cider, haha).
Overall: This eatery has a welcoming, cozy ambiance that we don’t have to go across the river for, an excellent staff that seems to truly enjoy their work and food that’s both delicious and at a price point that we can visit at least once a week. Its definitely made a spot in our rotation. Bye-​bye Spinelli’s (you won’t be missed).

Nice restaurant with a lot of character. We stopped while travelling after checking out Unilocal.Hubby and sister in law tried the Community Dark and Tafel Bier beers. They had less alcohol than normal but the taste was still good. I had the in house made root beer which had great flavor but could have used more carbonation. We each ordered separate pizzas and it was nice to be able to each get one of four available crusts– hand tossed, upside down (rectangular and thick), roundhouse (traditional thick) and refrigerator (deep dish). All of our pizzas were delicious and toppings were plentuful and fresh. Interesting and tasty place!

What can I say. This place is incredible. The food is amazing and the beer is to die for. They generally have 10+ house brews that cover rich darks to hoppy IPAs and everything in between. Pizza and breadsticks are amazing as well. They have a deep dish pizza as well as a little thing they call «the refrigerator «. They take a thin crust and lay it into a deep pan. Stuff it full of toppings and three times the cheese. (That may be an exaggeration but it’s a lot of cheese).
Expect a wait on the weekends but it’s totally worth it

The good: pizza was wonderful, breadsticks were great, lots of beer choices.
The bad: very slow to get food at 5pm on a Monday, waitress wasn’t that great, had to goto counter to get check, price was kind of high.
The ugly: probably dirtiest brewing area I have ever seen, the place is desperately in need of updating, wooden plates absorb bacteries and are beat up, urinal in men’s bathroom was full and out of order. No towels in bathroom, the hand dryer was useless, and it smelt horrible.
Conclusion: 5 star food, 1 star restroom, 3 star restaurant.

Two glasses of the New Albanian Brewing Company’s signature brews (Elector and Frankensteiner) and a large hand tossed pizza = awesome! Melode was our waitress, and you’ll want to make sure you sit in her section. She has somehow made everything sound, look, and taste better. No hyperbole.

This place was awesome! Great drink and great food! Comfy seating area, nice atmosphere and friendly staff.
We ordered a deep dish pizza and it was amazing. The pretzels and beer cheese were also excellent!
A further note, I forgot my jacket here and didn’t realize until the next day. I called and sent an email. They were to quick to get back to me and found my jacket, a huge thank you to the staff as I’m very attached to that jacket!

Great pizza and bread sticks. The beer is brewed In house and the names of the beers are really fun! Kinda hoppy, but overall awesome hangout for afterword drinks or a chill date night with your bae.

Two words: BEER CHEESE.
My husband and I have tried a plethora of beer cheeses around Louisville, and NOTHING compares to NABC. Period. If you say otherwise, you are completely silly. Seriously, I have cravings just for this cheese and their breadsticks.
Oh yeah, and their service always rocks (even on crazy busy nights), their beer is fantastic (and extremely well priced), and the refrigerator pizza is the hands-​down best. There’s just no comparison, anywhere in Louisville (although there are more expensive, less-​yummy places!) We’re NABC’ers for life. They make it easy to say so!
Tip: Be prepared for a wait during peak hours and weekends, but hang in there and grab a couple of beers in the meantime!

I have not ate at a pizza place in the area as good as this place. We ordered the upside down pizza and it was out of this world. We had the «Big Ten» toppings which is a must have when you order this style of pizza. We ordered the beer cheese with our breadsticks and it was fantastic. Once you eat here you will not want to go to any other pizza place.
Oh I almost forgot that they brew beer there too!!! They had several different styles plus a very large amount of «out of town“beers.

I’ve been a New Albanian customer for over 20+ years… but our relationship has come to an end – over Kale.
Yes, Kale. Aside from the bread sticks (which the wife and I love), my wife’s favorite menu item has been the salad.
During our last visit, my wife’s salad contained a mix of Kale. I don’t what management/​the chef was thinking when adding raw Kale to the salad — the Kale is very hard to eat (and digest).
When I mentioned to my wife that I’ve been craving some bread sticks and would like to eat at the New Albanian today, she stated she’s not coming back since the Kale salad mix change.
Hoping management will consider reconsider this misKaleculation!
Otherwise, aside from the bread sticks, my other menu staple was the thin crust pizza…
Kill the Kale!!!
