I think that they have some really good food. Their pork tacos are out of control. I also love their humus trio and beef wellington. I also wanted to let everyone know that they are not closed forever. I just called and spoke with the owner and they are re-​opening at a new locations in about 3 weeks. Which will be the 3^rd week of April.

Absolutely delish. Started with the plantain chips and guac and the goat cheese stuffed, bacon wrapped dates. YES PLEASE! I like that they have the smaller portions (duh tapas restaurant) but I really didn’t want the huge entrée after such great starters. I got the half portion of the melt in your mouth steak and whipped potatoes with the blue cheese sauce on top. (Cue heart attack!) I left feeling very happy. Only downside is that they don’t have a wheelbarrow to roll you out of there.

I had arrived here on Valentine’s day for a dinner with my friends, hoping to get a variety of entrees to choose from. Before showing up, I called three times to make a reservation, with their number being disconnected — I checked the number that was listed here, then checked their website, and it was correct. We decided to try and see if any tables were open, which we were able to find was in our favor.
Once I had sat down, my company and I were informed we were unable to order any alcohol, and our menu was limited to a set of scripted items. I did my best to not complain, although being shoehorned into a $ 37 meal was not my idea of a good time on a limited budget– there easily was other places to go where I didn’t have get only a full meal.
After looking at our menu for a good ten minutes, we were informed that their signature dish, the Beef Wellington, was out of stock… I had my heart set on this dish, and I already had my drink in front of me. Regardless, I changed my order and selected from their limited menu.
Our food arrived, with very meager portions, and at slow rates. I would understand if it there were dishes that took a long time to cook, such as fried dishes, but my appetizer was watermelon with prosciutto, and my salad was just two slices of tomato, a slice of cheese, and dressing. The main course left much to be desired for its size as well, the salmon was about the size of a tennis ball.
I wasn’t too pleased with dessert either, which I hadn’t wanted to begin with, but was forced to get if I wanted service. The apple cake was beyond overcooked, I couldn’t even cut into it with a spoon, and the ice cream was of very poor quality. I neglected to mention also that their flan, the only other choice for dessert, was out of stock only after we had finished our entrée.
Eventually our check came, and I was very displeased to see that they tacked on a twenty percent gratuity. Considering the quality of food and service, I would have let my tip do the talking, but I was once again shoved in a direction with zero say.
I will not return to this restaurant again.

Very bad service.
Called in to make reservation for 10 on Valentine’s Day. Person on the phone failed to say it was a special menu with only $ 37 dinners\ no alcohol was being served that night. When we explained to the manager, she made no effort to fix the oversight on their part. Left after 10 people parked and sat down for my sister’s 16^th birthday.

Great food, excellent prices, friendly service. Ulises (the waiter) is great. The flavor is very good. I highly recommend it.

When I read all of the previous reviews, I can only assume that I hit on an off night — either for the chef or my tastebuds.
First off, our service was excellent — no complaints there. The atmosphere was nice, nothing over the top, but quaint and cute.
This was my first time at a Tapas bar, so while I wasn’t exactly sure of what to expect, I ordered dishes that were fairly familiar to me.
Instead of an entrée, I ordered the Scallops Sofrito as tapas (if that is how you refer to it?) and a Caprese Salad. Both came beautifully plated, but neither had much flavor at all. I love scallops, but these were pretty bland, which especially surprised me when I got home and looked up the ingredients in a Sofrito sauce. Garlic and pepper? I really did not taste any.
As for the Caprese Salad, the tomatoes were not very ripe, which could be understandable in January, but the balsamic reduction could have made up for that, but it didn’t. I have never met a balsamic reduction that I did not like, but this one barely registered as having any balsamic vinegar in it. I was so disappointed in my whole meal.
Obviously, this place must be better than this or it would not have so many glowing reviews. Next time I will be certain to ask more questions as to what is the most popular dish on the menu, but part of me wants to try the same items, hoping it was only a fluke.

Sister-​restaurant to Louisville’s popular Mojitos, Habana Blues offers a quieter, less trendy version of the same delectable eats offered up in town. Located on a corner of historic downtown New Albany, the tapas here stand up to those being created in much larger and more celebrated culinary meccas, such as Chicago, Miami and New York. The plantain chips and guacamole are not only delicious but also beautifully presented, and an excellent palate cleanser between courses. As a vegetarian, I found myself swimming in options, and delighted by each. It’s a sign of good things that such creative, high quality food is being served in Southern Indiana. If you’re weary of the same pseudo-​Mexican and Italian-​American grub found throughout the region, try this place instead.

Just revisted this place after a quite pleasant stop by last fall for the mussels/​tomatoe
soup which was delicious. I must say I wasn’t disappointed. The value (8.00) for
the lunch specials cant be beat with generous portions. I had the chicken breast
sandwich which was very flavorful and juicy. The red ben soup was rich and also very flavorful with generous bits of pork throughout. The waitress was attentive and accomodating. Overall, a very pleasant place to spend some time enjoying the food
and atmosphere.

This is a nice place to go for tapas — the food is uniformly good, they make great mojitos, the wait staff is attentive.
Prices are a little high for a weekly attend.

Go with the mushrooms! It never fails when the flavor and taste of the ordered dish surpasses your expectations! Habana Blues is that place! The flavors are incredible, taste of food makes you regret that you don’t live closer! And while enjoying the delicious food, they have live music! How awesome is that? The Habana Blues is a must for anyone visiting or residing in New Albany or
Louisville!

My first visit to this local Cuban style restaurant left me impressed. The menu is large and we tried the small plate portion of the menu in order to try a few different plates and that worked out very well.
We started with the sofrito scallops and this clearly was the star of the evening. I often have scallops when we go out and I would go so far to say that these will hold up against any restaurant in the Louisville area. These shouldn’t be missed and will be a part of my future visits. My wife also loved these.
Habana Blues Tacos were two soft corn meal tacos w/​grilled grouper, tomatoes, onions, shredded lettuce, cilantro, avocado spread, sour cream and jalapenos. This was another big winner and like all of the food this evening everything was very lite so I didn’t leave hungry and at the same time wasn’t stuffed to the gills.
Also had the blue mussels sautéed on a creole tomato with red wine sauce, very good and this was a bit of a different take on mussels. Something different from the other eateries that I’ve been to. It was a good choice.
My only knock on the visit was that the grilled mahi-​mahi came out cool and not hot.
The service was good, the live music was a delight and my wife said the two gentlemen playing Spanish guitar made her feel like she was on a bit of a vacation. The mistake on my part was waiting so long to eat here, this will be one that I will visit often.

What an amazing place. Steak was juicy and incredibly flavorful. The red beans soup was the closest I’ve had to homemade at my grandma’s house. The menu has authentic traditional dishes and a lot of creative fusion inspired dishes like the stuffed dates.
As a Cuban American, I am usually disappointed with Cuban food at restaurants. Nothing beats home cooked. Until I came to this place. I’m going back tomorrow. Que Rico!

My wife found ourselves in downtown New Albany looking for a spot to watch the World Cup finals. Someone recommended Habana Blues and it was a great experience. Not only were we able to watch the finals in Spanish with a lot of the staff and a few die hard locals, but we had some of the best Empanadas I have had since living in South America.

I stopped here on the way back to Cincinnati after reading the reviews on Unilocal.This place is top notch in terms of food, service, and atmosphere. Consider sitting in the courtyard on a nice day. For a great meal, go with the pan con embutidos with sweet potato fries on the side; it will knock your socks off!

Wow. Who would have guessed this little gem existed in New Albany. No. Not wow. More like Holy cow!
After stopping at a nearby winery, my handy dandy little Unilocal app rated this the highest restaurant in the area. Totally agree.
Located in an old building that was once a hotel, Habana Blues is a tapas style Cuban restaurant with hearty sandwiches that you’ll be doing good to finish. The el cubano looked delicious, as did everything else that my party of 6 tasted. If only we had room for the coconut flan…

Oh my gosh, this little hidden gem was a total win with me and the gf. Our favorite meal was the albondigas and sofritos scallops. For someone who has historically avoided scallops, I was quite surprised how tasty they were when my gf ordered them. The house sangria and house marg were added pleasantries. Well… let me add the Pescado a la Plancha. That was absolutely amazing! So much so that I wished I has the entire entrée. Will most definitely be back!

My wife and I enjoyed lunch at Habana Blues. They have a lunch special for $ 8, ½ sandwich plus 2 sides of your choice. I had the Cubano sandwich, roasted pork, ham and swiss cheese, sides french fries, caldo gallego, a stew of navy beans, ham, pork, flank steak, peppers and garlic. My wife had the pan con embutidos sandwich, chorizo, serrano ham, bacon, manchego cheese, sides sweet potato fries, Habana Blues salad. The cubano sandwich was delicious, but I had a bite of the pan con embutidos sandwich, which is so good this is a near religious experience. My caldo gallego stew was very good, thick, smoky and hardy. Both the French and sweet potato fries were hot, flavorful, and not greasy. The Habana Blues salad was good, except the cucumbers were either old or not kept at the proper temperature, as they were off color and the flavor was not right.
The menus are very good, many items to choose and fairly priced. Our service person helped us promptly, was courteous, and checked back with us. The restaurant and mens room were clean. We will be back for lunch, dinner or both in the not too distant future.

I normally dislike tapas, but I really like Habana Blues!
See, I typically leave a tapas place feeling like I paid a ton of money for some appetizers and didn’t get filled up. Habana Blues definitely filled me up and the prices were fairly reasonable.
The location is fantastic, perched on the corner of Market, just across the street from where the city holds its Farmers’ Market on weekends. The rooms are intimate, though still lively and, some may consider loud.
Our server was very helpful and offered his recommendations for both food and drink. He was attentive without being overbearing.
The food was a mixed bag. It started off at wonderful and worked down to passable. Our cheese plate appetizer was flavorful, but grounded. The beef tenderloin was AMAZING! Seriously. By this point, I was completely on board for a 5-​star review. Then the fish came and it was dry and bland. I had high hopes for the fish since this is a Cuban restaurant and Cuba is an island. «They know fish,» I thought. Oh well. Desert was the chocolate cake and it too left me wanting.
I want to go back and try some other dishes and try to match the majesty of that beef. Man, that was good.

Sexy Beast and I had a late lunch here recently. The place was pretty empty and we had an entire room all to ourselves. I rather liked the atmosphere of the place but, then, I am a fan of old buildings. We were greeted and seated immediately upon arrival by a friendly young lady. Our waiter showed up within a couple of minutes and was informative regarding the menu and attentive during the meal.
I found the chicken empanadas to be delicious. The Caldo Gallego was tasty and robust. My salad, however, just laid there on the plate. It was abundant but a little wilted and unimpressive.
Sexy Beast enjoyed his Ropa Vieja de Pollo and ate every bite.
Overall, we liked Habana Blues and will likely give it another try.

We ventured across the river to broaden our horizons and not get stuck in the NuLu rut. I’d heard great things about this spot, and I must say that the fare definitely didn’t disappoint.
The ambiance is lacking, though the venue could be really cool. I believe it must have been a hotel at some point. While they could’ve used that to their advantage, they’ve really mucked up the charm. However, we went on a Saturday night and they had a roaming acoustic guitarist and singer serenading the diners. He was a nice touch — not too overbearing.
I started with the Mojito Martini at the suggestion of the waitress, but I left yearning for an actual mojito. Next time, that’s what I’ll order.
For our tapas, we chose Champinones al Ajillo, Gambas al Ajillo, Guacamole con Chicharri and Veggie Empanadas. All were delicious and I would recommend and order each of them again. The portions were large for tapas and the two of us couldn’t finish the four items we’d ordered.
But the highlight of the trip was my Café Cubano. I would drive back to New Albany just for that perfect little shot of espresso with just the right amount of sweetness. No dessert needed.
