Stopped by Jody’s was closed at 1pm on Wednesday. No sign of life, no info other than closed.

They burnt the fish and gave me stale bread the last two times i ordered. The soft shells are tiny. I got stuffed clams and when i got home i saw a big bug crawling in the package. yuk. Keyport Fishery is so much better and always on point.

Very dissatisfied!!! Went to Jodys 2 DAYS ago for some fresh soft shell crab. 1^st thing I was told when I walked in the door that ebt (food stamp) machine and credit machine were down. No worries I have cash. Oh great he said. Proceeds to wrap up 2 soft shell crab for $ 8 a piece I was so excited for fresh nice delicious crabs. Instead I get home and I opened the package up to get 2 rotten smelly smelly pieces of crab it was uncookable and disgusting! Never again will I go back!!! You proud yourself as a fresh seafood market… GET FRESH SEAFOOD THEN

Horrible. From the Jersey shore and passed this place all the time. Mentioned to the man who’s an owner that this was the first time I’ve ever been. Got 1.5 pounds of steamers (only 7 opened) for 8.99 a pound so that’s give or take $ 15, a cup of horribly salty lobster bisque (and I love me some salt), $ 5 and a lobster dinner $ 15. And got charged 47.45. Considering it was mothers day I didn’t care about the miscalculation until I threw 90% of dinner out. Will never ever be back. Beware.

Picked up 2 dozen little neck clams, dozen oysters on the half shell, and 1−½ pounds of jumbo shrimp. Had a great dinner for ¼th the price of eating out. I’ve got a house in Ocean Grove for the month, I’ll be back a few times.

I wish I could give zero stars! I am new to the area but given this business’ longevity and decent reviews… oh and the fact that were at the ocean… I figured we’d give it a shot. Unfortunately, it was for my birthday dinner (and I guess we ordered-​bf picked it up-​just before closing time) and we literally ended up throwing out everything. Let me also add that my bf is a vet so he eats mostly anything being that survival sometimes depends on that. Anyway, I got the lobster bisque & né clam chowder. One smelled like Ajax so I could not eat it. He tried it and it tasted the way it smelled.
We had lobster dinner (my favorite) they must’ve melted the butter in the styrofoam container that it came in bc it was also INEDIBLE-​tasted like plastic.
The lobster was, somehow, awful… not sure how you can really mess them up.
My bf had a seafood platter that was fried and came with French fries. The fries were so greasy that they were translucent. Clearly, the oil hadn’t been changed in quite a while. The whole meal, literally, went in the garbage and it was a special occasion to spend that kind of money… all to get thrown out. So very disappointing! Additionally, a friend went early that next week and said her lobster had tentacles on it?! Not sure how fresh anything is… better luck, next try!

This place is fantastic. We had the snow crab dinner & lobster dinner — $ 14.99 a plate. Fantastic cole slaw & the corn was sweet and crispy. Delicious steamed clams. The hush puppies, garlicmashed potatoes and crab cake were great, too. Everything was fresh and delicious. The place doesn’t really even smell fishy. Guy beyond the counter was funny and attentive. I live outside of NYC and have done a lot of fine dining so I have no idea what other reviewers are talking about. Great place — in business for 30 years. A tad pricey, though, for counter eating… no table service… But we will come back! Still 5 stars

So, I passed this place, wondering if it was good. I stopped somewhere close, looked at the reviews, and still couldn’t tell. It seems to be a place that polarizes people.
To the left/​south of the store, there is a place to order meals, along with some counter space where you can eat.
I ordered a Cajun Catfish Sandwich with cocktail sauce and a cup of white clam chowder.
It took a little while to put it all together but the person behind the counter was friendly and helpful.
The chowder was interesting. I’m still not sure I liked the recipe or not. It got me thinking about my time back on Cape Cod and maybe, that was an unfair comparison. It was full of clam meat without a lot of potatoes. The combination of spices was interesting.
The Cajun Catfish sandwich was good (and huge for $ 6.99), but also the combination of spices was not expected. I would certainly return, especially since they have a huge number of menu items to try.

Flounder sandwich crispy flavorful and not greasy. Same for the soft shell crab sandwich. Lucky i don’t live close cause I’d be here everyday. Steamers from the fish market were fresh and not sandy. This place works.

Great place to stop in and grab food if you’re looking for something fresh and local. Seared ahi tuna and lobster dinner are what id recommend to anyone looking for a good bite to eat! They also have some good lunch specials to choose from that change daily. Always a favorite!

I will preface this by saying that I ordered our food at 7:45pm and this place closes at 8pm. The fried flounder tasted like shoe leather, I spit out the fried clams as they were bad and knew it as soon as I bit into them, and the fried calamari was a soggy mess, all this for $ 77! The lobster bisque was the only portion of the food that was edible. Do yourself a favor and go a few miles past this place to Klein’s in Belmar where everything is fresh and edible.

Be careful with the prices here. We were just here and they charged someone else $ 30.00 for 2 dozen crabs and they charged us $ 40.00 for 2 dozen.
When my mom called them out on it at the register they were pretty dumbfounded and responded, «Ohhhh we charge $ 30.00 for cooked crabs, live crabs cost more.»
Since when do live crabs cost more???
Anyhow, we paid it. just be on the lookout for «special prices».
On a side note… the crabs are really good. Just annoying having to haggle and feel ripped off.

All I can say is that-​you never know how good you have it until until you crave that fresh, pick what you want, and have them cook it for you food. Finger licking to the bone. I miss them. But I shall return and that’s a promise. I miss the fried blue fish, scallops, shrimps and such. Hey did you know they have specials now too. Yes i still follow them from Charlotte. I have never had a bad moment only good ones. I will be back. Drooling just thinking of the fresh food and cooked to order.

Was visiting the area and stopped in here. The flounder sandwich was really good– Had it on white bread (no rolls left) and im glad it turned out that way. Eat it with some tarter sauce and hot sauce, yum. Turns out like 3 more people came in for the flounder and apparently I got the last of it! Some stayed and ordered something else, while another just left. Did not like the manhattan clam chowder, it had a funny taste to it imo. The menu is pretty big, they have lots of fish. Def worth stopping in for the flounder.

This place is truly deceiving from it’s décor, but I gave it a try and it was great. All varieties of fast food fish for lunch or dinner — from fried Blue Fish lunch with fries to Lobster or Alaskan Crab dinners with corn and cow slaw — it’s all good. They also have a full service fish deli including Crab Cakes, Tuna Salad and more. The downsides are that the place doesn’t have much room to eat inside and it closes early.

This is my stop for a great fish sandwich on my way to the beach. My fav days!

Great Take Out Seafood!!! Dont be fooled by its looks. This place will fry you up any kind of seafood and it is delicious!!! The chowders and soups are great too!!!
