This is a delightful little place, filled with nostalgic memorabilia & has a great menu, but it’s hard to know when they’re open. We’ve driven in to eat a few times and always find them closed. I think they keep early hours & close about 2 which is too bad, because many folks visiting the beach like to forego regular routines & maybe eat a little later in the day. At any rate, each of the few times I HAVE been able to eat here I’ve had the amazing Eggs Benedict(substituted ham for smoked salmon!) & it was supreme. There are many great menu items, but the EB is worth the wait, cost & drive.

Wanda’s make a really great cheese sandwich(I add avocado to try to make it a little healthier). The warm mocha drink is really good on a cold day. Pretty much everything we’ve tried here is good.

Small but mighty… Mighty good! Lightly eclectic menu; food you will recognize but many with a tasty twist. Everything is hand made there and the care shows. Portions are large and the prices are a bit higher than, say, a Denny’s, but you get a delightful bang for your buck. The hollandaise sauce for the eggs Benedict with spinach was home made and delicious. Ham, cheese, tri-color pepper and red onion omelette was high and fluffy and cooked perfectly. The décor of old radios, toasters, 50’s tables and tablecloths are artfully arranged and pleasing to the eye. And it is SPOTLESSLY clean! They were playing some interesting music in the background but it was unobtrusive and pleasant. I don’t know exactly why… perhaps it’s the way the eating space is arranged… but it is quiet despite folks chatting amiably.

Holy Jesus. Manzanita is truly a food and coffee mecca. Consistently awesome dining experience at Wanda’s. Even though Wanda’s is in Nehalem, it’s close to mecca.

I am reluctant to leave five stars because I already have to wait so long to get in the door, but it is too good not to tell the truth, and it is totally worth the wait. Their Bloody Mary’s are excellent, they baked goods are outstanding, and every item that I have even had on the menu has been incredible. I love the back patio, and the cozy feel of the place.

Busy busy busy place, but they still manage to be cordial and efficient. The food is really good, simple and hearty. It’s cute and clean, and they even have several vegetarian and gluten free options that made everyone in our party feel satisfied. Be prepared to wait, but know it will be worth it.

Went in based on other Unilocal reviews and it did not disappoint. Had a half veggie sandwich on rye with butternut squash soup and a Bellini. The man had a ham sandwich on sour dough and a Laughing Wanda cocktail. We loved all of it and the service was very quick and friendly. Unfortunately I was too hungry to take a picture!

Our experience did not live up to it’s reputation. First off this is not a family friendly restaurant. Our group needed to sit at two different tables. The pastries were not anything special and the meals were just average. Even our kids were disappointed in the French toast. Fortunately the service was fast.

I usually don’t tell everybody about my favorite spots, but you’re in luck. I love the food here. I think highly of the family that owns and operates this place. I have been eating here for nearly ten years and have not had a bad experience. The price of the food reflects the quality, and the fact that, yes you are at the northern Oregon coast. Biscuits and gravy are my go to. Sometimes they are the side to the other delectable main dish, although that becomes a lot of food for little old me to finish. Somehow I manage. Waiting out front for a table never takes as long as I fear, and I have to remember that I’m on coast time, it’s ok to slow down. After I swim I always know this place will be there to fill my empty stomach with good home cooking

Wow great food. great bloody merry . Don’t eat to much great cookies and deserts . Fun whitty staff. Clean and cute. They have a pretty big menu for such a small place. Such a shame its only open for breakfast and lunch. We will be back next time we fly in.

Breakfast was yummy, but the baked goods were the best part! Some of the best scones I have ever had, and their butterscotch pecan blondie, was delicious, super rich though, way too much for one person, on our way back for treats for our drive to Portland. Unilocal 4 stars was on the money for this place

Confession: I really REALLY didn’t expect much. Especially traveling through Nehalem, it just doesn’t look like there will be quality grub. I expected greasy, fried, diner stuff. I. Was. Wrong. REALLY this place is a find — and I almost regret saying this because perhaps they’ll get even more packed, but this is quality food, quality price, and quality service. AND and and… I could not believe how quickly our food arrived after ordering. Seriously, less than 5 minutes. And they were packed(every seat full, and people waiting outside.) Talk about turning tables quickly. So, do not be bummed if you see a huge waiting list — they really know how to get people in and out, while still offering a really quality dining experience.

Nehalem is a small town and doesn’t have that many dining options but what it does offer, is pretty impressive. Wanda’s Café and Bakery is probably the best spot for breakfast, lunch or brunch(they close at 2pm). It seems many folks not only from Nehalem, but nearby Manzanita and Wheeler also come here for eats and I can’t say I blame them. There’s usually a waiting list, but waiting times were not that long, I go in after about 20 minutes. Décor is definitely charming vintage, with chrome formica tables and grometted chairs. Service is also friendly and fast. I came in for brunch and just ordered a BLT sandwich since I definitely wanted to try their Marionberry Pie a la mode. Both were stellar and prices here are very, very reasonable. I saw lots of baked goodies on the offering near the cash register but since I was so full, I couldn’t bear to think about buying something else. You really can’t go wrong here and the waiting list shows you just how popular this place is. The only thing I can possibly say is a negative is that the parking upfront is really limited but definitely not a deal-breaker.

This is a charming little breakfast and lunch joint in nehelam. We went to breakfast. There was a line outside including a party of 12 yet they managed to seat us in 10 minutes: Ambience Latent hippy with hipster vibe: true Oregon. Country feel. Service Servers were friendly and fast. Received our orders in about ten minutes in spite of the aforementioned party of twelve Food Before I dive in: full expresso bar and bakery. They make a variety of delicious breads The beachcomber Layered home fries, country gravy and scrambled eggs with fruit. Tasty and good value. Huevos rancheros Respective version with home enchilada sauce and refried beans. Plate cleaned Eggs florentine No tastes were offered and plate cleaned Blt Pepper bacon homemade bread. No prisoners taken Yum

So glad we stopped here on our way back home. Delicious breakfast and lunch menu. At the tail end of a holiday weekend, there was a line to get in, but no wonder — the food was worth the wait. The place also had a cute, kitschy décor. Now we know the place to go when coming through Nehalem.

Tiny place that’s probably easy for most to miss. However, those who do are really missing out. Delicious coffee and classic rock hits, with excellent tastes, on the speaker help set the mood. Attentive wait staff meant that out orders were in quick. Then, our food came quickly and hot. I chose the huevos rancheros, which were delicious exactly the way they came prescribed from the kitchen. The salsa was definitely the key aspect of the meal. The portions were big enough that I got bits from everyone else’s plates. –The syrup is wonderfully light and sweet. –The omelette had delicious, fresh grilled veggies. –The homemade biscuit and jam, to die for. The service is friendly and fantastically on top of it. The only drawback is a little bit of expense, but it is 100% worth it!

Although it’s nice to know they clean their tables, when my daughter and I arrived the dirty rag was on the table I was shown to. The waffle was heavy, dry, and had flour lumps running thru it. The quesadilla with beans looked boring. The beans hadn’t been rinsed, so the meal was black and looked dirty. They didn’t fill my daughter’s coffee! At breakfast time the waitress should be making sure everyone has sufficient coffee. Or else put a small pot on each table. My real maple syrup was $ 1 extra. I get that. I don’t like it, but I get it. However, my daughters’ sauce was $ 2.50 extra!!! She opted out of the egg in the quesadilla, so at the very least they should have compted the sauce or offered fresh fruit or something as an option. The bill for 2 for breakfast at a dive(only 1 coffee) was $ 25. Very very expensive for bad food!!!
