Our beautiful, historic winery is nestled in a lush, green valley on Highway 53 one mile off Highway 101 on the Northern Oregon Coast. Visitors can sit at picnic tables looking out across the dairy farms to the Coast Range and Onion Peak. With a selection of 20 plus wines, there is something for any palette whether you like white, red, fruit, sweet or dry.

Established in 1974.

Celebrating Great Wine and Great Fun for the Whole Family since 1974!

The winery is located in the old Historic Old Mohler Creamery Building. The creamery had been a part of the Tillamook Creamery Co-​op producing cheese, milk and butter from 1909 to 1959. There are beautiful views of the valley from the patio, a quiet & peaceful setting, the only coastal winery in Northern Oregon.

Business Owner

Ray has a life of adventure and at the same time continues his commitment to making life better for those not so fortunate. Volunteering with the Red Cross in Texas and the Salvation Army in New Orleans in 2005 helping victims of Hurricane Katrina. In Cambodia he started an orphanage and in 2005 a sewing project for ethnic minorities in Mondulkiri Province Cambodia. A throw back to his war experiences with the people in this area. In the Philippines, 15 students are in college, high school or graduated and working because of Ray’s efforts. More info at the Anyway Foundation.

Cute little winery just off the beaten path. We stopped in on a whim and were so glad we did. I’m no wine expert by any means but they had a good selection to sample… For free! The gentleman there pouring was very friendly and knowledgable. Quaint place. We left with a fruit wine– bottles range from $ 20-​$ 25 for that selection but I believe that is his starting range for wine here. Also if you buy a case you get three bottles on the house! And they ship for free (for half and full cases). Quaint place for a quick wine tasting.

What a gem. A nice little winery off the beaten path in a cool old building. We sampled a bunch of wines and ended up taking home a case. Very tasty! At the very least buy a glass and hang out on the patio.

A great little hideaway like wineries of days gone by. Unpretentious and a beautiful setting. Have a complementary wine tasting then buy a glass and head for the patio with your favorite.
Don’t forget to grab at least a few (or a case or two like we did) wines to take home!

This place is fantastic and the people are great! We always stop either on our way out to the beach or on our way back and every time it’s wonderful! The wines are so good! My favorite on a hot summer day is the niagara! And anytime I always love the black berry!

What a great find– a real treasure! Very cozy, cute tasting room and staff is very attentive and knowledgeable. Their wines are really a treat… the Pinot Noir is as good as it gets. I’ve never been into sweet wines, but I did try some of their fruit wines and was pleasantly surprised! The Blackberry and the Peach were great… just wanted to make me fire up the BBQ with some ribs. Family and dog friendly too.

35 years ago we stopped at Nehalem Winery and bought some excellent blackberry wine. Nine months later our first daughter was born. Today we stopped in to pick up a bottle of blackberry wine to take back to our daughter. We shared our story with Ray and others. They happened to be having a reunion of folks that have worked at the winery. The group invited us join them and they all signed a bottle of blackberry wine. Ray gave us the wine for our daughter. We had a very good time and tasted some excellent wine.

We stopped here after a wonderful day at the nearby beaches. I always drive by here but never have stopped. It was an ok winery. not the best. I certainly wasn’t into sweet wines. The only wine I liked reasonably was the Pinot. Everything else .eh…could pass on. I liked the building that it was in and character of the place. The folks were nice. Just not for me is all. My boyfriend ended up buying me the Pinot Noir, which I we were told was 2012. I know wine to a certain degree and bought it based off of the taste and it being that vintage. However, when I opened it the cork said 2013 and it didn’t taste the same. So I was disappointed. I drank it. but it didn’t motivate me to going back at all. I’ll stick to the winery I’m part of in Carlton. Glad I stopped though. was curious for awhile. :)

Enjoyed this hidden gem.
Several wines to choose from. I am more of a red type of girl so we stuck to those. However if you like whites or fruity wines this is your place to be
I was impressed by the merlot and blend. Ending up buying 3 bottles.
If we are in the area again we will be going back.

In early December, I spent some time on the Oregon coast. I arrived in Nehalem about 4pm. Saw several antique stores I wanted to visit, but continued through town to visit Nehalem Bay Winery. Got there, and saw their signage that they were open until 6pm daily. YES! I could return to the antique stores, and then visit the winery on my way to Seaside.
Got back to the winery about 5:05. There were lights on in parts of the building, but the tasting room was dimmed, and locked up tight. Why advertise you are open until 6pm if you aren’t open that late? I intended to write to the winery after my trip, but never got around to it.
I ran into Nehalem Bay at a recent food festival. I mentioned what had happened in early December. He just shrugged his shoulders and said, «That sometimes happens.» Really? That’s your response? With so many wineries in Oregon, including many who appreciate my business, I will happily avoid NBW forever, and urge others to do the same if you give a damn about customer service.

This is review is for their booth at the Portland Saturday Market. The young lady manning it was very nice and gave me and my gf samples of just about all of the wines there, they were all delicious. We had flights out just a few hours after this and we were already fully packed, thus we could not buy a bottle from her. We made this clear to her b/​c we didn’t want it to seem like we were freeloading. We wanted to buy and pay for glasses but she said they couldn’t do that, but she happily gave us samples anyway. Very nice of her.

Casual winery setting with a variety of wines to taste. They do specialize in sweet fruit wines, which I do like in small doses and as a dessert wine. These specialty fruit wines also make good gifts.
The winery has a casual outdoor sitting area (much of is covered) for you to sit and enjoy your lunch (that you bring) and their wine. There is a store across the highway that we got burgers, sandwiches and fries.
Oh and family friendly too! We had our toddler with us and it was not a problem at all. Some others had their children with them too.

When you first get there you do not know what to expect. At first the hosts seem a little quiet but they do warm up to you. I am sure they are used to people coming in and gulping up samples and running away. So I can see their frustration. Tried the cranberry wine and it was pretty good. Also had the peach as well. Ended up getting a bottle of the cranberry. It was 4th of July weekend and they had someone on the patio making crab/​potato cakes and pulled pork bbq sandwiches. We were very hungry and ordered some food. Really hit the spot! Just before we left the hosts as well as a cook gave us some good sites to check out. Just give them a smile and they will smile back!

It’s a great winery which has character. If you want a unique experience, check them out. The staff was friendly and talkative. They let us try a lot of different wines and gave a discount for wine bottles.

Not the best wine tasting experience. The guy manning the fort there is pretty gruff. Don’t expect much information about the wine or winery. The charge for the wine is pretty hefty for the quality.
Wish I would have read these other reviews before venturing in there.

My friends and I stopped here on a whim during a roadtrip, and I’m so glad we did! I’m actually very surprised to see all the negative reviews because we didn’t experience any rudeness at all from the owner — he was very friendly and talkative. The «traditional» wines were just ok, but the fruity wines here are truly remarkable. Three of us tasted about 5 wines each and my friend was the only one to purchase a bottle, but he waived the tasting fee for all of us, explaining that he usually only charges when a large tour comes through. The tasting procedure isn’t the most professional I’ve seen (no rinsing of glasses, for example) so this is probably not for die-​hard purists and experts, but it is a great stop for the average casual wine drinker. I thought the place was charming and I will likely order the plum or blackberry wine through their website at some point!

A different wine tasting experience. We came on a rainy Friday and there was no one else in there. We asked to do some wine tasting, which was followed by a grumpy sounding «what kind of wine do you want?»… So we awkwardly tried the ones we pointed to, with no description whatsoever.
The wines were good, so I bought one, mostly because I felt uncomfortable and wasn’t sure how much the tasting would be. but knew it would be free with purchase. Then we left. The whole interaction took about 10 – 15 minutes tops. Can’t say I will return but definitely a funny story to look back on.

There don’t seem to be many wine tasting places in this area, so when we spotted Nehalem Bay, the car simply turned by itself.
This discovery turned out to be more fortuitous for me, a mostly non-​wine drinker, since many of their wines are fruity. Not overly syrupy sweet, because I hate that, but quite flavorful and delightful as a dessert wine. And I really don’t give a hoot what it was served in, but it actually was a regular wine glass unlike JW’s experience.
Laura was our pourer. She was delightful and easy to talk to, and certainly made our visit a positive one.
Mr. B started with varietals, and pronounced the Chardonnay his favorite. It is not aged in oak, which was a plus for him.
The fruit wines we tried included Blackberrry, Peach, Plum, Niagara (a Concord grape wine), and Christmas (a red wine spiced with orange peel and cloves that would be quite nice served warm).
Mostly to please me, we ended up purchasing two Plum, one Niagara, one Christmas, and three Chardonnay (the last bottle being free after purchasing so many). And the tasting fee of $ 5 was waived with our purchase.
