Specialties

We are a boutique winery combining meticulous winemaking practices with a genuine love of the land and support for the North Carolina Wine Community. Our medal winning Bordeaux wines include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and our Signiture Blend, Maestro. We also have 2 styles of Chardonnay, one that is aged in stainless steel, the other being our Reserve Chardonnay which is aged in oak. We specialize in dry wines aged in the barrel for 18 to 24 months.

History

Established in 2003.

The vineyard and winery contain a total of 29 acres that was once farmland. The newly renovated tasting room & shop is located in the Italian Renaissaince farmhouse that is over 100 years old. The first vines of the upper vineyard were planted 8 years ago, and the first vintage was 2005. The large outdoor deck was added to the winery along with another vineyard 5 years ago. Horses now grace the front pasture and the barrels rest in the upper winery building.

After years working for Coporate America, Jim & Mary left that world and purchased this existing vineyard and winery. They now spend their hours as Vitners and enjoy every minute of the «work.» They intend to grow this winery and make it an enjoyable destination for all their guests.

A beautiful setting and an amazingly personable couple. Since we live in LA, so close to the Santa Barbara wineries, we were a little skeptical about trying an NC winery… boy were we pleasantly surprised!
Jim and and Mary were awesome and the wine as amazing. In addition, the deck accommodated our party of 10 easily and the music and ambiance was incredible.
Their Bordeaux style wines were delicious and the tasting was both delicious and informative. Jim gave an impressive and educational tour and we are sold! I highly recommend for all! Hell, even the art for sale was cool… such a nice afternoon!

I was on vacation in Asheville, NC and decided to take a trip to Nebo to try this winery! Boy was this a great choice! Mary and Lea were great! Pretty informative! Jim was working hard but had time to say a little something to us! The grounds are beautiful! Oh the wine is great! And furthermore they had bbq, did someone say pulled pork? !! Lol yessssss try this winery and vineyards at once!

Adorable spot — would love to sit back and enjoy the view and soak up the weather. We stopped in just before closing, so we missed the music they normally have on weekends. Let me say none of wines were a favorite for me, but the execution of the wines was well done — to each his own palate. The pours were inconsistant, some heavy handed (not complaining!), some not enough to get a good taste. ALL of the bottles should have been opened to breathe A LOT more before we arrived by the end of the day. We didn’t purchase anything, as I felt their $ 20 reserve didn’t have enough of a wow factor for me to age at home (again personal preference). The lady working the tasting room was very nice

We stopped by on a Friday afternoon of a holiday weekend. Jim (owner & winemaker) did our tasting. The un-​oaked Chardonnay was decent, the Chardonnay Reserve was much better. My favorites, the Duet (Cab/​Merlot blend) and the Maestro (Cab/​Merlot/​Cab Franc/​one I can’t remember). Both had good complexity and flavor. We will definitely return. This winery attends Salute Wine Festival in Winston Salem.

When we first drove into the South Creek Vineyard, it looked unpretentious and un-​Napa-​like. However, upon entering the tasting room, we saw the bank of medals on the bottles behind the counter. The owner was friendly and helpful. We picked out the merlot and cabernet sauvignon, opting *not* to try out their signature wine, the Maestro. (Big mistake — We should have tried it.) We had both wines for dinner later that day. Exquisite, high quality taste. We are definitely returning!

This was the first stop on our vineyard tour from Charlotte to Asheville. We didn’t do our research and didn’t realize that the Biltmore would require us to buy passes just to enter.
We stopped here on the way and the wine maker gave us our pours and filled us in on the wine scene. He recommended Modesto to us for lunch and we were really happy with that.
Of the vineyards we went to, this was the only one where anyone bought a bottle. I guess that says enough.

I have visited many wineries and tasting rooms and this one is well worth a visit! This operation produces several really good wines (we purchased a bottle of the Cabernet Reserve), and I was thrilled with no mention of scuppernongs! The tastings are very reasonably priced, and there is some food for sale as well. An excellent stop during a romatic getaway!

I’ve visited several wineries in and around NC and I have to say that this is one of the best smaller family-​owned ones I’ve been to.
They specialize in dry wines so if that’s not your thing look elsewhere but if it is your thing look no further.
I’m a big chardonnay fan and found their selections to be superb!
The owners are the winemakers and the ones who serve you as well.
Giving that, their knowledge is outstanding making the experience even that much more.
We visited in late October but I hope to make it back in the Spring or Summer to pack a picnic and enjoy their outdoor patio.
Put South Creek on your list for your next visit to the mountains.

What a small, cute little vineyard!
We were traveling on 40 when we saw a sign for the vineyard and decided to get off. Such a great idea! For $ 6 we got to sample 6 wines and keep the glass! We also bought the Chardonnay Reserve. The wines are drier than I usually like, but SO good!
The grapes are RIGHT there! It’s so cool to see the grapes and then drink your wine!
There is a great porch to relax on while you’re drinking your wine. Next time we’ll be packing a picnic!

Great visit!!! Mary was a great host and the wines were excellent. The scenery was also nice and relaxing. We will definitely be going back on our next trip to the mountains.
